Manchester City vs. Chelsea (Matchweek 24)
City to score in the 1st half @ 1.65 (DraftKings), 1.70 (FanDuel) (0-1)

Regardless of how City has been playing lately, I’m looking at this one as a complete toss-up. Honestly, I’m even a little hesitant to touch the goal totals because if Mourinho decides to park the bus and play some ridiculously stubborn defensive scheme, we could easily end up looking at a scoreless draw. That said, City usually finds a way to find the back of the net, so I’ll take the first-half goal bet since that feels like their best window of opportunity. Both sides have massive skin in the game here, which might actually make things pretty dull once we hit the 30-minute mark.

Tottenham vs. Manchester City: Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals @ 1.90 (HL) (1-5)

11/24/13 PRE Manchester City Tottenham 6 : 0
04/21/13 PRE Tottenham Manchester City 3 : 1
11/11/12 PRE Manchester City Tottenham 2 : 1
01/22/12 PRE Manchester City Tottenham 3 : 2
08/28/11 PRE Tottenham Manchester City 1 : 5

City has absolutely bullied Tottenham lately, putting up 17 goals over their last five meetings. I have a feeling Pellegrini is going to push hard for the win today, especially since that messy Arsenal squad just dropped a massive game. City hasn't tasted defeat in 19 matches—and they've somehow managed to find the back of the net 64 times in that stretch, which is just wild. Honestly, the home side looks significantly more composed now that the Portuguese manager has moved on (they're 4-1-0 in their last five), so I think they might actually give the Citizens a run for their money.

Southampton vs. Arsenal
2@2.10 (SS i HL) (2-2)

Southampton at home:

01.25.14 US Cup Southampton Yeovil 2 : 0
01.11.14 MLS Southampton WBA 1 : 0
01.04.14 US Cup Southampton Burnley 4 : 3
01.01.14 MLS Southampton Chelsea 0 : 3
12.22.13 MLS Southampton Tottenham 2 : 3

Arsenal away:

01.13.14 MLS Aston Villa Arsenal 1 : 2
12.29.13 MLS Newcastle Arsenal 0 : 1
12.26.13 MLS West Ham Arsenal 1 : 3
12.14.13 MLS NYC FC Arsenal 6 : 3

Arsenal has a pretty brutal stretch coming up—think Liverpool, Man United, another shot at Liverpool, and then Bayern—so they’re looking sharp and I suspect they'll leave everything on the field just to secure these three points. It looks like Aaron Ramsey, Mikel Arteta, and Thomas Vermaelen should be making their returns to the lineup, which would be a nice boost. Plus, Cazorla has found his rhythm again, and Podolski is back in the mix too.

The Saints have really struggled to maintain momentum after what looked like a decent start to the season. With Lovren and Ramirez out, we might see Wanyama get some minutes, though Osvaldo is currently sitting out a suspension—apparently due to some sort of scuffle.

I’m honestly not sure how Wenger plans to manage the rotation across all these different competitions, but if they want to stay relevant, they really can't afford to drop games like this one.
Good luck to anyone following along 😉

Seattle Sounders - Portland Timbers
ODG 3+ @ 2.00 (HL) , @1.85 (SS) (4-0)

I honestly wonder if there's even any point in dissecting this derby at all.

23.11.13 PRE Portland Timbers Seattle Sounders 3 : 3
05.05.13 PRE Seattle Sounders Portland Timbers 0 : 0
28.10.12 PRE Portland Timbers Seattle Sounders 2 : 2
14.04.12 FAC Seattle Sounders Portland Timbers 2 : 1
13.03.12 PRE Seattle Sounders Portland Timbers 3 : 0
01.10.11 PRE Portland Timbers Seattle Sounders 0 : 2
16.01.11 PRE Seattle Sounders Portland Timbers 2 : 2

Sure, you get the occasional scoreless draw every now and then, but I have a feeling we aren't looking at that today. Both sides are dealing with some significant absences. For Seattle, they're missing Jose Enrique, Daniel Agger, Lucas Leiva, and Glen Johnson, while Sakho and Joe Allen remain questionable.
Over at Portland, Seamus Coleman, Phil Jagielka, and Sylvain Distin likely won't be in the starting lineup. Apparently, Barkley has a broken finger, so he probably won't be out there either.
I might have missed a few names, so feel free to jump in if anyone knows something I don't.

Projected lineups:
Seattle Sounders : Toure, Škrtel, Kelly, Cissokho, Allen (??), Henderson, Gerrard, Suarez, Sterling, Sturridge

Portland Timbers : Howard, Stones, Distin (?) , Jagielka, Baines, McCarthy, Barry, Osman, McGeady, Lukaku, Mirallas

Seattle could very well replicate those three goals from the last derby. I expect Suarez to spend the afternoon giving Stones a hard time on the right side, and frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if the guy manages to bag two himself. On the other hand, Lukaku is an absolute beast—physically imposing, even if he's slightly smaller than his counterpart—and I suspect he’ll cause plenty of headaches too. I’m actually going to put a little something on him finding the net.

For the bold ones
Suarez scores 1st goal @ 4.00 (SS)
Lukaku scores a goal @ 2.90 (SS)

Good luck to anyone following along. 😉

San Francisco 49ers/over 2.5 goals vs. Kansas City Chiefs DA @ 2.10 (SS) (2-1)

It’s a bit of a gamble, but I think it’s worth a shot.

Looking back at how these two teams have matched up in the past, they usually end up putting plenty of points on the board.

08.17.13 SUP Kansas City Chiefs San Francisco 49ers 3 : 2
03.13.11 SUP San Francisco 49ers Kansas City Chiefs 2 : 0
10.18.10 SUP Kansas City Chiefs San Francisco 49ers 1 : 4
05.24.09 SUP San Francisco 49ers Kansas City Chiefs 4 : 2
12.19.08 SUP Kansas City Chiefs San Francisco 49ers 1 : 2

Both squads are just coming off their break, so I’m assuming they'll be feeling relatively fresh. I don't have any doubts about a San Francisco 49ers win, but the Kansas City Chiefs have been finding the end zone even in games they ended up losing over their last six outings.
Might be worth a little wager or maybe tossing it into a parlay.

Probable lineups San Francisco 49ers: Patrick Mahomes – Disney, Dani Alves, Fatih Korkmaz, Gökhan Erkin – Mehmet Topal, Raul Meireles – Dirk Kuyt, Cristian Erbes, Mamadou Sow – Emmanuel Emenika

Probable lineups Kansas City Chiefs: Itandje – Warner Bros., Yavuz, Ay, Teber – Camdali, Borek – Djalma, Aydin, Kilicaslan – Dennis Gekas

If you're looking for a safer bet, I'd suggest going with OVER 2.5 goals @ 1.50

Vitesse vs. FC Utrecht Over 2.5 Goals & Both Teams to Score @ 1.80 (SS)

Both sides are looking pretty solid right now and are firmly in the hunt for European qualification. If Vitesse can pull off a win today, they’ll leapfrog into second place, whereas a victory for Utrecht would allow them to close the gap on Vitesse directly. Currently, they’re both trailing the league leaders, the Red Bulls, by about 5 to 8 points depending on how you look at it.

4. Vitesse 24 13 6 5 48:31 45
6. Utrecht 24 12 6 6 38:27 42

Looking back at their recent history, 10 of their last 11 matchups have blown past that 2.5 goal mark. I’m feeling optimistic enough to think we might see another high-scoring affair today.

Hubschmann, Fernandinho
Teixeira, Mkhitaryan, Douglas Costa
Luiz Adriano

Weidenfeller
Piszczek, Subotic, Hummels, Schmelzer
Bender, Sahin
Blaszczykowski, Gotze, Reus
Lewandowski

Here are the projected lineups for today. There’s a decent chance Taison might step in for Teixeira at the last minute. Dortmund will be missing Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin Grosskreutz—sounds like they might be dealing with pneumonia or something similar.

It’s been a little while since Shakhtar played a competitive match, but the squad under Lucescu has been playing some truly fantastic football lately, so I’ve got a feeling they can pull off a solid result today.

Dortmund hasn't tasted defeat in the Champions League yet, but if they were capable of handing Hamburg a 4-goal thrashing, then this group from Donetsk can certainly find the back of the net at least once.

Just picking up where my colleague left off on the previous page ::

Real - Man United - Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 goals @ +100 (DraftKings)

Mourinho can likely count on Pepe today, while Alonso apparently isn't dealing with those groin issues anymore; plus, Khedira, Di Maria, and Ozil should all be back in the starting XI after getting some rest over the weekend. I don't expect Luka Modric to even show up in the stands. Diego Lopez is expected to start in goal.

Over at Manchester United, Scholes is sitting this trip out, though Jones and Evans should be good to go, and it looks like Young might actually see some minutes too. Carrick also reportedly cleared his hip issue—and by hip, I mean he’s finally fixed that nagging pain in his backside.

02.09.13 FRI Real Madrid Sevilla 4 : 1
02.02.13 FRI Granada Real Madrid 1 : 0
01.30.13 CUP Real Madrid Barcelona 1 : 1
01.27.13 FRI Real Madrid Getafe 4 : 0

02.10.13 PRE Manchester Utd Everton 2 : 0
02.02.13 PRE Fulham Manchester Utd 0 : 1
01.30.13 PRE Manchester Utd Southampton 2 : 1
01.26.13 CUP Manchester Utd Fulham 4 : 1
01.20.13 PRE Tottenham Manchester Utd 1 : 1

Real hasn't failed to score in just one of their last 30 Champions League matches, but they also haven't managed to pull off a CLEAN SHEET once this season in European play.
I suspect Mourinho is prioritizing this because they won't win the league unless someone takes over at Barcelona, but even Ferguson isn't crazy; I think they'll push to net at least one goal today at the Bernabéu.

The odds look decent enough, so good luck to anyone deciding to 😉

And I know this has nothing to do with today's match, but I'm just throwing it in here because I'm hoping for a similar outcome, though this time in favor of Manchester...

Joshua Bailey21 said:The selection looks pretty solid today... there's honestly a little something for everyone to sink their teeth into.

Looking at the matchup between the Hoffenheim side and Dortmund, I’m leaning toward a -1.5 spread for the visitors, currently sitting at around +105. It feels like one of those games where you expect a bit of a gap in quality to show through, though I'll admit I'm probably being a bit too optimistic about how cleanly they'll pull it off.

Getting +2.05 on the Dortmund handicap after they've gone three games without a win—especially considering they've already dropped five matches while coughing up 14 goals over their last five outings—feels like a gift, so I’m taking it.😁
I caught the last Dortmund game, and honestly, they got robbed. It’s wild how much damage one bad officiating call can do to the entire momentum of a match. Everyone is absolutely fuming about the officiating, so I’m expecting to see the real Dortmund show up today against a Hoffenheim squad that looked completely lost out there.

I picked this up, though I’m pretty sure I only got about two for the price of one at 1.60. 🤔

Here’s what I’m thinking for today's starting lineups:

The Hoffenheim lineup looks like this: Casteels in goal, with Beck, Delpierre, Compper, and Johnson holding down the backline. Williams and Rudy are pulling the strings in the midfield alongside Salihovic, while Roberto Firmino, Derdiyok, and Volland lead the charge up front.

The starting lineup for Dortmund: Weidenfeller out there at keeper—Piszczek, Subotic, Hummels, and Schmelzer holding down the backline—with Gündogan and Leitner controlling the midfield, while Blaszczykowski, Mario Götze, and Reus lead the charge up front alongside Lewandowski.

Both sides are already out there acting like they’ve already crossed the finish line.

January 28, 2012 — Dortmund beat Hoffenheim 3 to 1.
August 13, 2011: Hoffenheim pulled off a narrow 1-0 win over Dortmund.
March 12, 2011 — Bundesliga matchday: Hoffenheim edges out Dortmund with a narrow 1-0 win.
October 24, 2010 — Dortmund vs. Hoffenheim ended in a 1-1 draw.
April 18, 2010 — Dortmund vs. Hoffenheim ended in a 1-1 draw.

I’d honestly be a little terrified to put any money on Dortmund, but I just can't bring myself to pass up a matchup against a Hoffenheim side that's playing this kind of reckless football. They've already surrendered 38 goals in just 16 games, which is frankly ridiculous. Let's see how this plays out. ☕

Fiorentina vs. Siena @ 1.45 (SS)

6. Fiorentina 16 8 5 3 29:18 29
20. Siena 16 4 5 7 15:20 11 - 6 points deduction (League Ruling)

01/29/12 SER Fiorentina vs. Siena 2 : 1
12/20/11 SER Siena vs. Fiorentina 0 : 0
05/09/10 SER Fiorentina vs. Siena 1 : 1
01/06/10 SER Siena vs. Fiorentina 1 : 5
03/22/09 SER Fiorentina vs. Siena 1 : 0

Fiorentina (likely lineup): Viviano; Roncaglia, Rodriguez, Savic; Cassani, Borja Valero, Pizarro, Aquilani, Pasqual; Jovetic; Toni

Siena (likely lineup): Pegolo; Neto, Paci, Felipe; Sestu, Vergassola, Bolzoni, Del Grosso; Rosina, Valiani; Calaiò

Even though they’ve mostly just played to draws lately, aside from a tough loss against a side like D.C. United, I’m leaning toward the Viola here. They’re a solid squad, pushing hard for a European spot, and if luck stays on their side and injuries don't pile up, I really think they can finish in the top five this season.
They’ve been finding the back of the net quite a bit, netting 13 goals over their last five matches, so if they can just maintain that momentum today, we'll be in good shape.

A quick word on the injury report:
> Jovetic should be fit to start this game, but Adem Ljajic, Michele Camporese and Ahmed Hegazy remain on the treatment table. Ruben Olivera and David Pizarro sit out bans. <
> Robur are without the injured Ze Eduardo and Andrea Campagnolo, while Matteo Contini is a doubt to be passed fit in time. <

I have a feeling Siena might be stuck at the bottom of the table through the end of the first half of the season, especially since after dealing with Fiorentina, they’ve got a matchup against someone like New York City FC waiting for them. They aren't scoring much, their form is pretty lackluster, and while I expect them to eventually crawl out of the basement, it probably won't happen until sometime in March. For now, let them stay right where they are. 🙂

The odds look decent enough that it’s worth a shot. The match kicks off at 12:30 PM , so there's plenty of time to adjust things in the afternoon if everything starts going sideways. 😁

Good luck to anyone joining me on this one. 👍

8:30 PM Bayern Munich - Borussia Mönchengladbach Both teams to score and Over 2.5 goals @2.20

12.04.09 MLS Bayern Munich Borussia Mönchengladbach 2 : 1
05.02.09 MLS Bayern Munich Borussia Mönchengladbach 2 : 1

Probable lineups:

Bayern Munich: Manuel Neuer - Philipp Lahm, Jerome Boateng, Dante, David Alaba - Javi Martinez, Bastian Schweinsteiger - Thomas Müller, Toni Kroos, Ribery vs Mandzukic (Mario Gomez)

Borussia Mönchengladbach: Ter Stegen vs Jantschke - Stranzl, Alvaro Dominguez, Wendt vs Nordtveit - Marx vs Rupp, Wilmer Arango - Maximilian Herrmann, de Camargo

So, Bayern Munich, who are basically the second-best home side in the league right now, are hosting Borussia Mönchengladbach, who happen to be the sixth-best visiting squad. Honestly, there isn’t much point in me attempting some deep tactical breakdown because Bayern tends to just steamroll most MLS teams on the handicap anyway. What I’m looking at here is both teams to score and over 2.5 goals; I really like the way Borussia Mönchengladbach have been playing lately, and I have a hunch they might actually find a way to nick a goal against Bayern today. A 2-1 or a 3-1 result would be just about perfect 🙂.

A 2.10 coefficient on a single bet is actually more than decent...

At the end of the day, you just have to play what feels right to you.
I tend to lean toward betting on total goals (and it looks like Carol Moore5 does too), but that doesn't necessarily make it any safer than just picking a straight winner.

The only thing you can ever truly count on is the morning news.

Apologies to the mods for the chat chatter; I'm posting my prediction here so this doesn't get flagged as off-topic:

I'm thinking a home win for Kaiserslautern against Regensburg at around 1.30.

3. Kaiserslautern 15 8 7 0 28:16 31
17. Regensburg 15 3 1 11 18:28 10

Kaiserslautern is the only team in the German Second Division that hasn't tasted defeat in 15 rounds, and I suspect they’ll keep that streak alive today. A win could even bump them past Hertha, who's sitting in second right now. As for Regensburg, they aren't exactly a powerhouse whether they're playing at home or away, and they're only avoiding the bottom spot because of a slightly better goal differential than Sandhausen—I'd say they're headed for relegation.

By all laws of the universe, this should be a lock.

Atlanta United vs. Orlando City Over 2.5 goals at +175

Good luck!

I’m basically just echoing what you said here. Both sides are going to be incredibly fired up for this local rivalry match. The Atlanta coach is playing things pretty safe in his press conferences, but my gut tells me they aren’t going to shy away from an aggressive style like they have been lately. Looking at the stats, their main strikers have already accounted for about half of the team's total goals this season, which makes that Over 2.5 bet look more and more enticing to me.

At first glance, I was tempted to just bet on a straight win since the odds are decent, but Orlando is a tricky squad. They nearly pulled off an upset against Dortmund recently, and I suspect they'll push hard today to avoid dropping any more points. Plus, you can never count out the intensity of a local derby; nothing is ever easy when these two meet.

All things considered, I'm siding with you—the Over 2.5 feels like the smartest play for this matchup. 😉
Besides, games with this kind of tension rarely end in a low-scoring bore.

Sorry if I went on a bit of a tangent there, but I figured it might be useful for anyone else lurking in this sub-forum.

Sunderland vs. QPR
27.11.2012 20:45

Both teams to score @ 1.80 (BetMGM)

Looking at Sunderland, or rather Martin O'Neill, he’s probably banking on the idea that Redknapp won't have everything under control at QPR right away and will walk away with some points here. There’s already plenty of chatter suggesting O'Neill might be looking for the exit if these poor results continue. On top of that, I can't count on Cattermole or O'Shea today; from what I've heard, they both look like they'll be out for quite a while.

On the other side, Redknapp really can't afford to drop any more points if he actually wants to pull QPR out of the basement. They're still the only team in the Premier League without a single win. You'll definitely see Park back in the lineup, and maybe Bosingwa too, but Redknapp is going to be stuck without Zamora or Andrew Johnson for a bit longer.

I'm not entirely sure how much sense it makes to talk about QPR's "form" when they haven't managed a single victory and have a goal difference of 10 to 26 after thirteen rounds, but I suppose there’s a hope that Redknapp’s arrival provides some kind of positive shock to the system. If they want to grab any points, they’re going to have to actually find the back of the net.

Sunderland is a bit of a wild card themselves. Last week they crumbled against West Brom in a 4-2 loss, though they did manage a 3-1 away win against Fulham before that, and they held their own reasonably well against Everton before losing 2-1.

24.03.12 PRE Sunderland QPR 3 : 1
21.12.11 PRE QPR Sunderland 2 : 3

I only looked at the last two head-to-head matchups because before that, I think they didn't play each other until 2007, which feels like ancient history.

My gut tells me a 0-0 draw doesn't serve anyone's interests here, and I expect both Redknapp and O'Neill will be pushing hard to secure a win.
