I mean, look, the movie itself is just... well, it's a chick flick ( 😬 ), so it's basically just pure entertainment rather than some deep masterpiece. But honestly, Anne Hathaway was EXTREMELY good in it 👍
James McAvoy is just Absolutely Fabulous, and I guess it’s honestly wild how he manages to have such insane *chemistry with literally anyone he shares the screen with!!!!

But whatever, maybe I'm just "weird" because I hit the movie theater constantly, and honestly, if I love a movie, I don't care if I see it multiple times on the big screen 😬 Let's just say I spend basically my entire allowance on movie tickets because it's such a blast. Money well spent... at least in my book 😁
I'm actually listening to 😍 right now!!!! James Marsden is seriously the best, like, his smile throughout the whole movie is just legendary!
mistyhound2, I just sat through this a few more times because honestly, I just couldn't help myself!!! 😍 😬 and seriously, the more I watch it, the better it gets—I don't know, I guess I was kind of indifferent the first time since it was my first time hearing the songs, so I couldn't really "get into" it... it's the same feeling as when a song finally clicks after you've listened to it a few times. Each time I watched, the music got better and better, and then the movie itself followed suit.
And yeah, I am totally head over heels for this movie 😍 it just puts me in such a good mood.....
I caught this at a private screening and then went back for a second viewing just because I needed something fun to watch 😬
So, look—the movie is basically your typical, naive, cliché, overly sentimental American mess. Honestly, it’s right on the edge of being... well, whatever. But despite all that, it was freaking hilarious (to me, anyway) and sooo much fun. Plus, the soundtrack is great, and the casting? Absolutely spot on. You've got Michelle Pfeiffer, John Travolta playing a woman, Queen Latifah being fabulous as always, Christopher Walken being hilarious, James Marsden (our X-Men guy) who was totally brilliant to me, and that teen star Amanda Bynes who is seriously funny in this, along with Zac Efron who is 😍 😍 😍. Yeah, yeah, I'm definitely having a total fangirl moment here, and NO, I am not too old for this stuff... clearly 🤣 )
All in all, it's an entertaining flick with good music and great dancing. You're guaranteed to leave the theater in a great mood with a certain amount of... life energy 😬
I watched it the other day and I actually really liked it 😬 such a hilarious ride (that part at the end about the weight gain and the kids was 👍 and don't even get me started on Oprah and Sinatra 🤣 or that worker strike in Mexico—seriously, that was probably the funniest bit in the whole movie 🤣 Casey Affleck 🙏), just a great little flick for chilling out. All in all, I'm pretty glad I gave it a watch 😁
I watched it, and honestly, I thought it hit all the right notes 👍. It’s nothing groundbreaking, I guess, but it was definitely intense enough to keep me hooked. Jim was just incredible, personally. During that first scene, I was kind of like, "Oh, okay, here comes Jim Carrey," but after that, I totally forgot he was even there because his performance was so convincing (though my friend couldn't get into it at all since she just kept thinking, "That's Jim Carrey," you know? To her, he's just the guy from those goofy comedies)
brightcobra91 said:I'm with you on everything, northernangler17 🙂. I watched Troy, and man, the Governor was great, but Orlando was just so pathetic and miserable. I mean, yeah, that was his character, but still, what a total bore. He just doesn't move me at all. And Elizabethtown? That movie was endless, and he was just like a wooden statue—it was awful. I honestly think he needs to take on a challenging role, maybe some mentally unstable guy or a maniac, just so I can actually see him act. Every single one of his characters feels so shallow.
👍 😬
I thought Elizabethtown was actually a decent enough movie, but HE just kind of "got in the way," if you know what I mean. I kept thinking, "Okay, now the Eagle is finally going to prove me wrong," but nope. The only scene in that whole thing that actually stuck with me was when he was dancing in the woods 😍 but the tragedy is—he wasn't even acting! They just filmed him jumping around from a distance, so theoretically, it could have been anyone 🤣
p.s. brightcobra91, I feel like you and I end up agreeing on stuff pretty often on this forum 😬 😘
Robin Torres2 said:So how did he even land those massive blockbusters then? Maybe just because of who he knows.
all thanks to LOTR 😉 and honestly, he only ended up in LOTR more by luck than anything else related to his "amazing acting." He was just a pretty face, so they went for it!
Michelle Hall9 said:I find him just incredibly bland. Putting his looks and acting aside, he’s just empty. There's zero charisma or depth there. Maybe it isn't even his fault, maybe it's just the roles he picks, but honestly, any decent actor brings a bit of themselves to a part, and he just stays exactly the same—totally lifeless. His good looks don't mean anything if he's this boring. 😢
Ugh, exactly! We are totally on the same page here! Those are the exact words I was looking for—charisma and depth. He just doesn't have them. To me, he seems... HOLLOW.
Someone’s probably gonna shut me down for this, but honestly? I find Orlando so incredibly bland and forgettable that it’s actually scary. He’s easily the most vanilla, uninteresting "Hollywood actor" out there... I mean, ever since LOTR, I just haven't gotten the hype. Okay, sure, he's good-looking, though personally, I don't think he's even that hot... maybe it was just that long blonde hair that hooked everyone, because he never really stood out or showed any real range. (I guess his role wasn't huge enough to show anything, but even then, real actors can handle that, so I eventually gave him a chance). I just never understood why people worship him so much while Viggo Mortensen—who is a straight-up genius—just gets left in the background...
....And if I hadn't given Orli a fair shot, I'd never have known. I thought, okay, fine, maybe he'll win me over, so I watched Troy and Elizabethtown and Pirate... but nothing. He just can't act. I mean, I just don't see him as an actor, period...
Jerry Martin19 said:other people's opinions, which are basically forced on readers and viewers by some kind of media dictatorship, are just taken for granted 😠
I think I get what you're getting at, but honestly, nothing can be "forced" on you unless you actually let it happen 😉 so don't even worry about it. Like Discovery said—your own opinion is the only thing that matters here. If the "masses" want to follow whatever critic says, taking it for granted and pretending it's their own idea—fine. It's not really "bad," is it? It’s just... a choice 😉 just like choosing which movies you watch! 😉
Forget all that, Jerry Martin19, just watch the movies and enjoy them. That's literally why they make them. 😉
