granitefox16 said:During timeouts, they probably just decide which set plays to run, but all you hear from the sidelines is "let's go," "don't let them score," and "dig in" or some other nonsense.

Exactly. These kids don't need tactical lectures during timeouts because they already know the game plan. They certainly don't need the coach trying to play smart for them now.

For players at this level, the prep work and mental toughness are what matter most—that's the coach's job. Once they step onto the court, they handle the rest themselves.

The cast is definitely pathetic.😕

Formula 1 car back at the Nürburgring in Formula 1 ·
wearyraven41 said:It’s been 31 years, but a modern Formula 1 car finally reclaimed its spot wandering the Nürburgring. Yesterday, German driver Nick Heidfeld took the BMW Sauber Formula 1 2006 out for a spin, putting in three laps on that legendary 20.8km circuit. Now, don't go looking at Heidfeld's best lap time from the second circuit—it's basically meaningless. He was actually told to slow down in certain sections just to make room for the photographers.

Aside from those Bridgestone demo tires—which were a bit stiffer than the racing rubber—and that high ride height, where the front end sat 4 centimeters off the ground and the rear sat at 8, the Formula 1 2006 was running in full race trim.

Heidfeld clocked his fastest time during the second lap out of three total runs, hitting 8 minutes and 34 seconds. Just to refresh everyone's memory, The all-time lap record at the Nürburgring still belongs to Stefan Bellof. He set that mark way back in 1983 driving a Porsche 956, and honestly, the time is still insane: 6 minutes and 11.3 seconds.

"That drive was just unreal," Heidfeld said. "I always figured it would be amazing to take a crack at the Nürburgring, but honestly, it blew my expectations out of the water."

"I honestly felt my soul shake during that stretch through Bergwerk and out onto the Döttinger Höhe," he continued. "It’s one of those days I’ll carry with me to the grave. It just joined that core collection of childhood memories and racing wins that define who I am."

Heidfeld clocked his top speed yesterday out on the Döttinger Höhe straight. 171 milesI can't work with that. Give me some actual content to rewrite.

BMW Sauber boss Mario Theissen made it pretty clear after yesterday’s run: this wasn't some desperate grab at a new lap record. He said the whole point was simply to pay respects to that legendary track.

"We told him to play it safe," Theissen admitted. "Today wasn't about chasing lap times; it was about showing respect to the fans and honoring this one-of-a-kind track. The numbers on the clock were secondary."

Stefan Bellof clocked a 6:11 at the Nürburgring.

Heidfeld takes on the Nürburgring.

The current Nürburgring 20.8km... 13 miles The Nürburgring layout features 33 left-handers and 40 right-handers, though if you ask any hardcore enthusiast, they’ll tell you there are actually closer to 100 corners in there. The lower left yellow area indicates the location of the Sketch Grand Prix course.

The Nürburgring isn't just some racetrack; it’s a beast. If you look at its history, you realize it’s less about paved asphalt and more about testing whether a driver actually has nerves of steel or if they’re just playing around. It’s legendary for a reason. Take the old days, for instance. You had guys like Stefan Bellof pushing limits that most people can't even wrap their heads around. When you talk about the sheer danger and the technicality of the track, you're talking about a place that demands total respect. It’s not like a sanitized modern circuit where everything is predictable. Here, one wrong move and you aren't just off the line—you're in the scenery. Even looking back at Formula 1 2006, the legacy of this place stays relevant. It’s a benchmark. Whether it's the grueling nature of the Nürburgring 20.8km stretch or the way it tests a car's setup, it remains the ultimate proving ground. It doesn't care about your reputation or how much money your team has. It only cares about what happens when you hit the throttle.

If they actually put some money into this track and organized a race here, it might actually be worth something.
I think the fans actually sitting trackside would find it pretty boring since they'd only be watching about 15 laps, but for anyone watching at home on TV? That would be absolute spectacle. 🙂

That wouldn't really work though.😁
Too many modifications would be required to host a Formula 1 race there, and if those changes were actually made, it wouldn't even be the same track anymore.

I know that's not fair, and I'm not saying everyone who likes country is a bad person, but I just can't do it. I can handle almost anything, but country? No thanks.🙂

Same here, except for me, it's heavy metal.

Yeah, because apparently two FBI agents get luxury cars, immunity, and total freedom to do whatever they want. And sure, everyone's a pro pilot now. The movie is just bad—a complete waste of money.

Considering how much it already made and what it's going to pull in...
I wouldn't call it a "waste of money."🤣

Comparing lap times between Formula 1 and Rally is totally nonsensical in my book.
