crimsonstag84 said:What kind of workload are we talking about? If you're running a game, some heavy software, or just have a mountain of browser tabs open, hitting 8GB is totally doable.
Otherwise, you might be dealing with some junk—either actual malware or maybe a memory leak (though that's less likely). Your first move should be checking Task Manager to see what's eating your RAM and running a scan with Norton.

Thanks. Task Manager is telling me that service host : Local system (15) is hogging most of my memory. I’m not even gaming here; I’m just browsing the web with maybe 3 or 4 windows open at most. Honestly, I used to have this old single-core machine with 2 gigs of RAM where this never happened. It started happening on this rig back when I was on Windows 7, and now it's doing it on Windows 10 too. I actually wiped the whole thing and reinstalled the OS two weeks ago because of this, and yet... here we are. 🤷

Edit: Memory usage just jumped to 74%, and Task Manager says "System" is eating up over 2 GB.

EDIT 2: Ten minutes later and memory is up to 85%. Just finished a scan with Norton... 0 Threats found.

Hey @fadedorca66/">@@fadedorca66, @Robert Rodriguez2/">@@Robert Rodriguez2, @The New Guy ESMartic, @crimsonstag84/">@@crimsonstag84, and everyone else—can someone help me out? My PC keeps throwing "out of memory" errors after running for maybe an hour or two... I check my widget and the usage needle is basically pinned at 98-100%. Any idea what's eating everything up?
ps: it's only rocking 8 GB of RAM...

🤷

So, I’ve got a bit of a specific one for you guys...

I just installed Virtual DJ, and now I’m running into a weird issue... Basically, I can hear the master output, but I can't hear the track I have queued up—it's just not playing through my headphones...

Does anyone know what kind of hardware or add-on I should pick up so I can actually hear the track I'm prepping before it hits the speakers? If you catch my drift?
Thanks in advance!
What is wrong with @Executioner?! in Feedback & Suggestions ·
So, I jumped into this thread yesterday—which used to be a chat, but is now titled "Consistency in Continuity" (since they change the name of this thing constantly)—over on the Reddit philosophy sub.

Basically, I dropped a few short, lighthearted posts, and overnight, they were wiped clean. I was just chatting with Adis Šabović; we traded a few quick lines and even poked fun at the executioner who probably took offense and decided to nuked our entire conversation... (I should mention that the executioner spends almost every single post messing with Apament—it’s all in good fun, obviously. Since I'm someone who can actually handle basic math, I know neither his jabs nor my comments were meant maliciously, but he clearly didn't get the joke. He acts like some kind of dictator over on the philosophy page.) I’m sure he’s going to have an even bigger grudge against me now, but honestly, who cares...

After I sent him a private message to ask him straight up:
Ronald Bishop58 says:
Hey there.
Is this supposed to be a chat, or just another one of those endless threads for writing long, empty essays?

This was the response I got (quoting the executioner c/p):
The latter.
So yeah, anything that isn't long and hollow gets deleted.

Is that really how a "rational" moderator responds to my question about where the philosophy chat went?

Maybe this complaint will actually land somewhere, or maybe it's just shouting into the void—who knows...

Since the executioner expects everyone to either worship him or curse his name, here’s a little bow from me to close things out 🙏

Respectfully yours! 🙂

Robert Rodriguez2 said:the other one has an IPS panel—which basically means you get way better color accuracy and much better viewing angles, among other things.

Thanks man!!

Just pulled the trigger and ordered it today. Honestly, once I spotted that other 24'' option, I had a brief moment of panic where I thought I’d totally messed up my choice. 🙂

Thanks, crimsonstag84,

Honestly, the people on Craigslist just aren't all playing with a full deck... They can't decide if they actually want to sell or what... You've got one guy who doesn't even know where his steering wheel adapter is, and then another who says he can't meet today or tomorrow because the steering wheel is buried in some box in his attic and he "doesn't have the time" to go looking for it... 🤦🤦

So, would something like this work as an alternative? click

Is this actually the same steering wheel?

Hey, I could use some expert eyes on these two graphics cards.

Price-wise, they’re pretty much neck and neck... which one is actually the better bet?

Thanks in advance!

I honestly have no clue where I'm supposed to track down a Formula Force EX—it feels like nobody is even selling them anymore...

What do you guys think about this wheel? I’m probably going to have to hunt down a used one since they're impossible to find brand new anywhere right now.

If this is totally off-topic, please just point me toward the right subforum where I can ask this stuff!

Does anyone have recommendations for a decent PC racing wheel under $133? Ideally looking for something from Logitech.

Thanks a ton.

So, what exactly is an IPS panel?
Feel free to toss some other monitor recommendations my way—ideally something up to $333 that features that IPS tech.

Thanks!

Timothy Kim60 said:Look, if the total hits over 5k, I might as well grab that EVGA 550 W—it just makes sense, no point in pushing the power supply too hard.

Honestly, just grab the one with the i5 and burn macOS to a USB, or maybe just snag the GTX 750 Ti and call it a day—you won't have to blow your whole budget. It’s a solid Electronic Arts setup.

Thanks a ton, man!! 👍
