I have no clue what that is... maybe masochism? just a totally warped idea of love... something super twisted and probably really hard to "fix"...
Something tells me—just from skimming through this whole mess—that you're both just masochists at heart. Like, you're out here suffering for him, and he's out there suffering for someone else. 👎
And honestly? You’ll probably just keep hunting for the next person to pine after—someone more dominant, someone stronger, someone "successful"—someone who at least pretends to be perfect. Because let's face it, nobody's actually perfect, but since you don't really love yourselves or see your own worth, you try to make up the difference through someone else.
Anyway, still haven't gotten an answer to my question. 😁
So, I’ve been looking for the right thread to drop this in—I wanted to find somewhere that actually fits, but honestly, whatever, I'll just put it here.
Basically, I’ve noticed this pattern with a few guys I know—it’s like this weird, obsessive fixation on one specific woman. Like, they fall for her back in middle school or high school and then just... pine for her for literal decades. And usually, she either didn't give them the time of day or just treated them like a platonic buddy. To them, she’s this untouchable queen, some perfect goddess. It gets kind of crazy because once they move on to someone else, they basically just adopt her tastes and interests as their own. It’s like they’re living in her shadow forever. These guys tend to be pretty soft, too—not assertive at all, never really had the guts to actually tell her how they felt. They never even dated her, and let's just say there was zero physical intimacy involved. It's like they're permanently stuck in some sort of adolescent fantasy land.
P.S.—oh, and regarding their sexual preferences? They often lean towards being submissive or wanting to be humiliated, etc.
What would you even call this? Is there a diagnosis for this kind of thing, and more importantly, how does anyone even fix it?
I was actually thinking about saying that I use olive oil for everything, but honestly, I don't even trust that it isn't hydrogenated too My blood pressure is totally fine now—like, 100/60, basically a baby's
Thank you, though who knows? Maybe I’m just undernourished, considering how dramatically I dove headfirst into this whole healthy lifestyle thing
So, I'm 25. I haven't touched meat in about a year—honestly, I haven't even had a burger or anything like that in forever. I try to eat super healthy most of the time. Sure, I’ll indulge in something sugary once in a while, like today, but usually? Not really. I might have chicken maybe once a month, and I grab some fish roughly every two weeks or so.
The thing is, I've been dealing with high blood pressure lately, which is kind of a new development. My HDL cholesterol is sitting at 1.04, though the recommended levels are supposed to be above 1.2.
As for my other numbers, LDL is 1.8 and triglycerides are at 0.57.
My mom doesn't have this issue, and I don't think my dad ever did either.
No matter what I do, I just can't seem to get my HDL up—my bad cholesterol is always fine, triglycerides are totally normal, but this good stuff... man, it’s been consistently low for probably ten years now. I’m hitting the gym, I don't eat meat, I'm all about that olive oil, I stay away from sugar, I don't smoke... honestly, I feel like I've done everything by the book. Does anyone have any actual advice?
Seriously, you can joke around ten times, but the eleventh time? That’s when you just snap—you're totally done with all this nonsense 😁
In just the last hour, I’ve checked my blood pressure ten different times... and yeah, obviously it's perfectly normal 😁 The battery life on this thing is a total joke—it barely lasts two days if I'm lucky—so now I’m basically shelling out money $3.25 for new batteries 😁 every single day
I mean, seriously—when the priest who’s supposed to be your moral compass tells you that you’re just making things up in your head, and then your doctors start saying the same thing... and it's not just them, either. It's Mom, Dad, my brother, my sister, even my actual friends. Look, I get it, having health issues sucks, but apparently, I’m just exaggerating everything or whatever they call it
So, I kind of had this moment where I thought, okay, fine—let me actually try doing exactly what all of you keep telling me to do. It hasn't worked a single time before, but maybe this new approach will finally stick, right?😁
Whatever, let them judge me if they want, I'm just gonna tune them out. If I die, I die, I guess. At least I got it off my chest during confession.😁
Look, don't go panicking—you’re just digging yourself into an even deeper hole if you do. I'm sitting here typing this and honestly? Yeah, I'm pretty freaked out too, but that's just how it is. You can actually wreck your physical health from all this, not just your head. I mean, think about the sheer amount of hormones flooding your system because of the stress... it’s insane. Your heart starts racing or skipping beats, your blood pressure spikes, and your whole body feels like it's constantly under siege. It’s like we're basically just self-sabotaging our own lives at this point.
I honestly think I’ve actually made myself sick from all this hypochondria—like, the constant freaking out about my health has probably spiked my blood pressure, and now I’m just depressed because they barely gave me any meds for it, even though I have these permanent issues😢, why won't they just give me some pills alreadyeeeeeeeeee🤣
I had one of those episodes yesterday... just a massive headache, and I was convinced it had to be my blood pressure acting up, but then there's nothing wrong with it. So now I'm constantly checking, and since everything looks fine, I start spiraling—like, if it isn't my pressure, then what the hell is it? Then I get hot flashes, maybe because I was working out, or maybe it's just me, but then my reading hits 130/90 once, and I absolutely lose it. I start crying immediately, and my mom is like, "Go ahead, check it again," and of course, by the time she does, the numbers are perfectly normal again
My mom is totally losing her mind at this point—she can't deal with me anymore, she says she's gonna kill me, haha😁 I'm constantly convinced I'm just gonna drop dead, and unfortunately, I'm starting to realize I might have actually talked myself into this mess. Every single doctor I've seen basically tells me the same thing: just calm down, go see a psychiatrist or something, blah blah blah
So, doctors say that brain issues might actually trigger all sorts of mental health struggles—it’s wild, really. I know someone who ended up being diagnosed with schizophrenia, and get this: once she was hospitalized due to some kind of sudden neurological disorder, they actually found old scarring on her brain from previous strokes. It wasn't even obvious until that specific crisis happened, but apparently, she’d been dealing with these silent, past strokes all along. Before all this chaos, she didn't have any major issues, just maybe a little bit of paranoia here and there, so I'm guessing that's when the damage first hit. Now that she's dealing with everything, she doesn't really talk about it much, and honestly? She isn't even taking any medication, which is... well, something.
Look, whatever you're stressing about—honestly—just head over to your doctor and have them fix the date and slap a stamp on it. It’s way easier than trying to deal with the headache of begging them to write out a whole new referral.
So, I'm talking about bloodwork—specifically, I had my aldosterone levels checked. Honestly, I have no clue if they do that under some kind of stress test or if it’s just the standard procedure... I don't really know, I guess. You're headed straight to nuclear medicine then.
Look, from what I did a few days ago, you really need to get plenty of rest and catch up on sleep beforehand. Don't eat anything in the morning, and honestly, if you can, just have someone drive you there so you don't have to walk. Once you arrive, you just lie down for about half an hour, then they check your blood pressure and draw your blood. They give you two diuretic pills, and then—get this—you have to walk around for four hours. I practically lost my mind! They didn't even tell me whether I was allowed to eat or drink water; it was a total circus. Basically, after taking the meds, you just walk around, though you can eat and drink whatever you want—just stay away from coffee, cream, and stuff like that. Then you come back, sit down, they check your BP again, take more blood, and that's pretty much it.
I'm not sure if there's any other way to do this besides that whole ordeal, but I think it's called an aldosterone profile or maybe an aldosterone panel? Anyway, you should probably just double-check whatever the instructions say on your lab order.
So, I’ve been dealing with some issues regarding hypertension and hypokalemia lately Here’s my lab work: Aldosterone while lying down was 628 (ref range 27.7-443)
while sitting it hit 1358 (ref range 97-831)
PRA while lying down was 0.17 (ref range 0.2-2.3) and sitting it was 1.46 (ref range 1.3-4) Now, I'm trying to figure out—is this actually due to a tumor, maybe some heart failure, or just plain old high blood pressure? I should probably mention that I don't even eat salt, which is why all these numbers seem so weird to me, I guess.
So, my CRP—that's C-reactive protein, for those who don't speak doctor—is sitting at 9.6 mg/L, while the "normal" range is supposed to be anything under 5 mg/L. My doctor is basically looking at me like, "Yeah, you've got some inflammation going on." And I'm just sitting here thinking... do I really? I mean, my nose is running like a faucet, and there's this weird phlegm stuck in my throat, but my throat doesn't actually feel inflamed or anything. I haven't even been prescribed antibiotics yet, which is confusing me because my leukocyte count is totally normal.
