Elizabeth Mendoza said:Fifteen years? Yeah, right, lol. Even Dzikic mentioned we should be able to finally breathe easy by the end of the year. Everyone seems to be pointing toward that six-month to one-year window at most. We really need to trust the science here. Everything has advanced so much across the board because, thanks to modern tech, we actually understand how these viruses work and how to fight them way better than before.

The bottom line is getting this virus under control so we can slowly get back to our regular daily routines. And looking at the current momentum, it feels like even the hardest-hit areas are finally seeing some light at the end of the tunnel.

Previously, I might have argued that within six months, everyone would have been exposed and developed immunity—that the body would simply adapt...

The whole circus just gets more absurd when you consider the fact that you can go two full weeks without even testing negative...🍿

Susan Kim2 said:You can celebrate the Eucharist right in your own home, by yourself. You don't even need a TV or a radio for it. Another thing is that most believers are pretty uneducated, even regarding their own faith. The vast majority haven't even read the Bible, so it’s hardly surprising that some mentally unstable priest can easily manipulate such a small group of people.

Religion is the opium of the masses 🧐—of course, one doesn't strictly have to attend church, but then every priest would be out of a job...
Most of those attending Mass simply do so out of habit or tradition, just to see familiar faces before moving on with their day... and it is truly remarkable how much respect a local small-town priest commands within the community; he could practically kill someone and nobody would say a word.🙂

I honestly fail to understand how everyone is overlooking the glaring issue here—that this reporter, operating entirely without authorization or permission, filmed a Holy Mass she had absolutely no intention of actually attending? 🤷
How long are we going to allow journalists to act with such total impunity, doing whatever they please without facing any semblance of accountability?
Or perhaps the real issue is simply that she’s a woman—if a man had been shut down that aggressively, there wouldn't be a peep, but apparently, you can't even lay a finger on a woman, regardless of how much nonsense she pulls...
Or was it just a matter of needing a different woman to take her down?

restlesssurfer97 said:The bottom line is that this woman basically manufactured a whole drama out of thin air because the church was empty—which, honestly, I’m still wrapping my head around myself—so there was zero actual substance to work with. She walked inside, ran straight into a total jerk, and then got exactly what she wanted: a confrontation she could spin into some big headline. If that guy hadn't stepped up and shut her down, she would've almost certainly marched right up to the altar, filming everything closer and closer until someone else intervened, and when nobody stopped her, she probably would've started badgering those poor old ladies sitting in the pews just to fish for some ridiculous quote so she could make the whole country laugh at how clueless these religious types are.

And if, by some chance, she couldn't squeeze a headline out of that, she’d probably just strip down and pee right on the church steps,
put on a vacant expression, and wait for the fallout... anything to secure a scoop ☕
instead of actually touring the city to find a real story—like a Corona party (I walked past one yesterday)—she chooses to deal with this nonsense 🙄 well, perhaps next time she might actually think twice...

I have to admit, I’m a bit surprised to see something like this coming from restlesssurfer97 and the Pope.

But then again, I suppose these are just the times we live in.

She managed to come out on top this time... which is more than I expected. ☕

Anthony Jackson2 said:What do you mean, provoked? Was she insulting them? Throwing punches? Walking into a church with a pentagram? I watched the video and didn't see any provocation at all—just someone filming a building, which happens all the time.🤷

well, 🤔 if you walk into a church during a service and start waving your phone around—especially without announcing yourself or asking for permission—you're asking for trouble... honestly, after seeing this, I feel like anyone who notices someone filming them should just grab the phone and smash it on the floor; there really isn't any other way...
edit:
In Russia, people looking for trouble tend to be dealt with via summary judgment: Pussy Riot:

Anthony Jackson2 said:She was just doing her job—just because people hate the outcome doesn't mean she did anything wrong.

I think any sane person should back investigative reporting on the elite—it's pretty much the only way things get better in this country. Full support for the reporter.👍

The woman intentionally provoked the situation—she got exactly what she wanted: a viral story and a spike in clicks—all while playing the innocent victim... but anyone who actually witnessed the reality of what happened will likely react much more aggressively next time someone tries to film them without asking.

Can we actually expect any condemnation of this journalistic trash from some human rights organization?
And should we really expect decent people to just stand there if some random stranger starts filming them without warning
instead of snatching that phone right out of their hands and tossing it onto the floor...

It is often said that it is better for a village to perish than for its traditions to fade... though one wonders if we cling to these customs out of genuine respect or simply out of a stubborn refusal to let go. ☕

Setting aside the whole pandemic situation, this meeting between the administration and certain media outlets is pretty dangerous.

Anyway, since shops are staying open until 8 PM now, I suppose that's not an issue anymore? 🤷

It is possible... 🎉

Does anyone else realize the real issue here is the absolute silence surrounding this—all just so the big shots can cling to their positions?
Given the current circumstances, one would expect town halls, serious debates, and perhaps even a dedicated primetime lineup on networks like ABC or CBS focused on how to navigate this crisis, jumpstart the economy, and—most importantly—save the summer travel season
instead, the trending topic is nothing more than some tired, washed-up celebrity like Kelly Clarkson whining about her personal feelings during these times🙂
For heaven's sake, you don't have a single broadcast questioning whether these overpriced masks actually protect us from anything at all...🙂

Michelle Palmer6 said:Do you really think the season wouldn't be a total disaster if these restrictions weren't in place here in the States?

My point is—after being stuck indoors for so long—there’s going to be a massive surge in people just wanting to get away... we really need to go all out with our marketing for the summer season, especially since hardly anyone will be choosing to visit Italy or Spain when they'll have much more pressing matters to deal with than tourism,
which is how we redirect those travelers right here... that's what I'm getting at...

Matthew Young35 said:Who exactly is standing up for you? And more importantly, have you even considered what this is going to do to the summer tourist season?
The tourism season is looking like a total wash. It’s just not going to happen.

If 99% of those who passed away over the last few weeks could be back with us today, wouldn't they tell you that the only reason they’re gone is because they didn't take this virus seriously enough? It’s simple, really. They failed to protect themselves. A little bit of common sense would have gone a long way.

But honestly, there is absolutely nothing else being discussed—it’s just a non-stop loop of infection numbers, death tolls in France, and whatever Madonna thinks about the whole situation... it's been like this for the last month straight. It really makes you wonder about the future of tourism—which, let's face it, is basically the lifeblood of half the country... ☕

brightpilot6 said:Extraordinary circumstances naturally demand some level of nuance. People tend to want to believe that their leadership is fully capable during a crisis, which usually triggers a psychological shift that works in the government's favor, garnering them more public support.

In this situation, as in almost everything else, one has to find a sense of balance; swinging toward any extreme is rarely helpful. From what I can see, we aren't even implementing extreme measures when compared to other similar countries.

To be clear, I am not talking about making reasoned critiques of specific policies; rather, I am referring to the uncritical dismissal of actual dangers—ignoring the consensus of the 99.9% of experts in those fields—or suggesting alternative measures that are simply impossible to implement due to personnel, material, or logistical constraints.

Every day, the world learns more about this phenomenon, and nothing can stay hidden forever, whether it be someone's experience, their successes, or their failures. That global awareness will always serve as a corrective to the policies we have in place, so I don't share the fear that we are needlessly sliding into a dictatorship.

The issue here is the total suppression of debate; one isn't even permitted to consider the economic fallout, let alone dare to question what this will do to the summer tourism season...
even someone like Dragan Primorac can't provide a straight answer as to whether people are dying from Corona itself, or from pre-existing conditions that the virus merely pushed over the edge.
And now Dybala has tested positive again—how is that even possible after two weeks?
Yet we are expected to place blind faith in those who seem to lie incessantly just to secure their next election cycle...😵

Elizabeth Mendoza said:But there's a much higher chance of something going wrong with this specific virus because it really hits vulnerable people hard. My brother has had heart issues since 2015. We are being extremely careful around him, both with this virus and everything else, but this current strain is brutal on anyone with underlying health problems.

I honestly don't get some of the attitudes on this forum. Don't get me wrong, I'm not an extremist. I haven't barricaded myself in my apartment like some people; I still go to work regularly. My life hasn't stopped, and I don't have the luxury of working from home. But I'm not exactly "relaxed" either. I'm not sitting here nodding along or making jokes like everyone else does. It actually gives me the chills to see groups of people walking their dogs without masks, sitting on benches, chatting away, or grabbing beers on the grass. You see three, four, five people huddled together in a group, all ages, and absolutely nobody is wearing a mask.

What should they be doing instead? A lot of people here are acting way too casual. They crowd together in big groups, and if anyone shows even a hint of caution, they end up pressed against a pole just to stay away. Let's just completely let our guard down then, shall we? Throw out the anchor and turn into Italy 2.0. Those folks stayed nice and relaxed, and now they're dealing with tens of thousands of infections and piles of deaths.

People have simply had enough of this whole ordeal and they're trying to live their lives again... after a month of being stuck inside, a person just wants to have a beer, take a walk, get some fresh air, catch up with someone... isolation is exhausting, quite frankly...

wiredrider9 said:The folks up in Appalachia are busy correcting the national Headquarters. Turns out that 46-year-old who passed away was actually dealing with some serious health issues way before this
According to the County Headquarters, the guy was immobile and had been struggling with arterial hypertension and obesity for a while now

The national headquarters is just a bunch of liars and manipulators, honestly

If this pattern of deaths among retirees and those with chronic illnesses continues—where they essentially make up 99% of the total fatalities—there will be an uprising... the authorities should simply isolate the critical demographic so the rest of us can go about our lives normally... otherwise, there won't even be any pension funds left for them...
edit:
And if the people in charge attempt to obfuscate the truth by claiming everyone is equally at risk, it will come back to haunt them...
Anthony Jackson2 said:And yeah, I’ll keep calling you out. Prove to me that the person who spread it was actually being irresponsible, rather than it just being pure luck. Go ahead, I'm waiting.

I live in a house with four other people—three of them work, so 4 out of 5 of us are out every single day, interacting with the world, hitting the grocery store or the pharmacy. The odds of me catching this thing while walking through a park are way lower than the odds of someone in my own house bringing it home from work or the store. So, what's the actual point of quarantines, locking apartment doors, and all those other idiotic measures? You guessed it: nothing. (I wrote that because I knew you wouldn't catch on.)

Besides, the fact that the virus made its way back to China proves these measures were a failure, especially since they aren't sustainable in the long run anyway.

I am genuinely curious how the Headquarters intends to resolve this...🍿

I am not entirely certain, though I believe there are strict protocols against any direct contact with infected individuals—much like how he is prohibited from having contact with anyone else
