Thanks for the input, I think I'll just leave things exactly as they are then.
Best, 😊
Is it possible to change my handle to Tija ZD? I was under the impression that numbers weren't allowed here
thanks🙂
PS, why does this error message keep popping up whenever I try to view something?
tija54, you do not have permission to access this page.
Actually, numbers aren't forbidden, so you don't necessarily have to strip them from your username unless that's how you want it to look. 🙂
Regarding the switch to 'Tija ZD', do you really want to include a city abbreviation in your handle? I feel like you could come up with something a bit more creative, since there are already plenty of users using that specific area code.
But hey, if that's what you're set on, just go with Tija ZD and reach out to Nick. 🙂
As for that error you're running into, it's likely because you're trying to access a page where you don't have clearance, or perhaps you're attempting to use the forum search, which is temporarily disabled at the moment.
Casey Kelly2 said:Fair enough, that's on me :/ but I guess you can't help but wonder how long the wait might be when those massive waiting lists are such a thing, you know?
2. Can you get rhinoplasty while wearing braces???
If it isn't an emergency, you might be looking at waiting more than six months for surgery in Washington, D.C.
You really ought to request a referral for an ENT specialist, and then once you actually sit down for that consultation, you should feel free to ask the doctor every single question on your mind.
Best,
I’ve had this cartilage issue for quite some time now, though I never actually touched the tip of my nose. Over the last four years—and honestly, even before that—it has started to shift downward. From an aesthetic standpoint, it doesn't look too bad, but the breathing issues are becoming impossible to ignore 😢
So, the plan is to shorten it, and then they'll just sand it down, which should be fine since there's really only a tiny bit of cartilage left right at the bridge of my nose, or whatever you call that specific part
I'm just not sure how long the wait will be; my friend works over at the ENT clinic, so I'm hoping that means I might get seen a little sooner than expected 🙄
A friend of mine recently went in for a breast augmentation, and she told me they actually had her strapped down before the anesthesia even kicked in; she was so terrified she felt like she needed to bolt right then and there 😁
As for myself, I had my first rhinoplasty and handled the anesthesia and the surgery itself quite well, though I’m planning on a second procedure soon, so I’m really just hoping for a similarly smooth experience and an even better result this time around 🙂
I can't help but feel like using an open technique might yield superior results; my first nose job was done using a closed method, and unfortunately, the shape didn't hold up—it dropped, and now I have a constricted nasal passage on one side that makes breathing a real struggle
I opted to go through a private surgeon and covered all the costs out of my own pocket 😢
it seems like they tie everyone's hands behind their backs during all of these operations🙂
Casey Kelly2 said:Thanks so much 🙂. Is the wait time really that short? I have a deviated septum, but I'm also hoping to get some aesthetic work done on my nose at the same time.
I don't know if this is a silly question to ask, but what exactly is a secondary op?
A secondary operation is just a follow-up surgery. For my first one, I went through a private specialist.
I'm honestly not sure about the exact waiting list times. As for whether they handle cosmetic stuff,
I assume they do, though; in my case, they actually need to shorten my nose just so I can breathe properly.
The best thing to do is probably just grab a referral and head over to the clinic so you can get all the specifics straight from them.
Good luck! :-)
Casey Kelly2 said:Hey everyone. I have a really urgent question here. Does anyone happen to know roughly how long the waitlist is for an appointment with an ENT? Specifically, I'm looking at seeing Dr. Tončić or someone in the San Diego area. Also, does anyone know the typical wait time for surgery when using insurance through a major provider like Blue Cross? Please, I could really use some help from you all!!
And on a slightly different note—not sure if this is the right place for it—does any girl out there know any makeup tricks to help distract from a really prominent nose and draw attention to the rest of the face???
In San Diego, you’re usually looking at about a month for an initial exam, and for the actual surgery, I’d guess maybe another month. I'm actually heading in for a follow-up procedure at the hospital in San Diego next month myself.
Best, 🙂

He’s incredibly easy to talk to and really takes the time to walk you through the whole process, explaining the "what" and the "why," which I found helpful since I was dealing with a secondary operation, making things quite a bit more complicated than usual.
As for his expertise regarding the tip of the nose, it looks like he actually pursued a specific fellowship or some kind of advanced specialization for it—it’s actually noted right there in his professional biography.

Unknown
Well, I actually stopped by his studio this past Saturday, so I had a chance to look at what he was working on right there on his computer screen,🙂
and honestly, I’ve also chatted with a few other ladies here on the forum who have visited him in the past...
Drew Wilson2 said:WHAT IS UNKNOWN LIKE? HAS ANYONE HERE ACTUALLY WORKED WITH THEM? I’M NOT EVEN SURE IF I HAVE A REAL DEVIATION OR NOT, BUT LOOKING AT THE AESTHETICS: I HAVE A HUMP RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF MY NOSE AND IT FEELS TOO LONG, ESPECIALLY THAT TIP AREA WHERE THE BRIDGE DIVIDES. I AM TOTALLY HESITATING BETWEEN UNKNOWN AND MUNITIC. PLEASE HELP ME!!! 🤷
In my experience, Unknown is definitely the best choice when it comes to the actual shape and look of the nose, though I do suspect they are probably the most expensive option out there.🙂
Terry Smith9 said:Is nobody going to say anything about Bastaic or Toncic??????
I actually had my surgery with Bastaic about four years ago, whereas a close friend of mine went to Toncic, and unfortunately, she ended up needing a follow-up procedure, so I personally wouldn't recommend him at all.
If you are looking specifically for aesthetic results, I truly believe Zambell is the absolute best in the US. 🙂
Best,
I actually had my nose done about two years ago, and now I’m just thinking about going back in to touch up the tip a little bit. If anyone here has gone through something similar or has some firsthand experience with revision work, would you mind sending me a private message? I'd love to know which surgeon you used and what the price tag looked like. Thanks so much! 😉
