Is anyone else here still complaining, or is it just me?
Look, losing never feels good, especially in a championship game, but...
For crying out loud, we took home silver. We are the runners-up in the entire European Championship. We did that despite all the setbacks and being one of the smallest nations in the tournament. We left teams like France, Germany, and Spain behind us... Does that count for nothing?
And let’s drop the officiating talk. It’s not like they were biased in our favor, but was Huelin really shooting 40+% against the Danish national team? That includes those 7 or so shots from Balica. He practically handed them three or four goals the second we dropped to a man down around the 20-minute mark. If we're going to whine about refs and bad luck, maybe we should mention that we wouldn't even be watching this final if Poland and Canada hadn't helped us out by taking points off Norway.
Also, leave Lin alone. For God's sake, the man has delivered World Cup gold, World Cup silver, Olympic gold, and now European silver over the last five years. What more do you people want? Go ahead, replicate his career, and then you can start talking trash.
Someone in here actually wrote, 'we shouldn't have even made the final since we lost.' Honestly, grow up. If Ivano, Pero, and the rest of the guys heard you, I'm pretty sure they'd have you sitting in the penalty box for at least 14 minutes.

We just weren't at our best for some objective reasons—it sucks, but hey, the next NBA comes in 2010. Ivan will be playing then, too.😁

Look, I'm disappointed we lost too. But that isn't an excuse to fly off the handle and ignore reality. Maybe they shouldn't have called that foul—it wasn't intentional, though I doubt that matters to the refs—but they called it, and that's that. Our team just didn't have their best game today. So what? A silver medal is still a massive achievement.
Our players look half-dead out there, the Danes are playing way too fast, Hvidt is doing all the heavy lifting on defense, and our goalies? They're nonexistent. That's pretty much it.
Man, it just didn't happen. Huge congrats to Denmark on a well-earned gold medal; they were clearly the best team out there throughout the whole tournament.
But seriously, hats off to our guys too. Taking silver is a massive achievement, though it’s honestly pretty hard to watch how some people are acting right now (looking at you, Pero...).
Btw, I get the feeling we actually played our best when they benched Lin van. 🙄 And yeah, Vukica’s shot did hit him in the leg.
Well, I guess this is just our day to settle for second place. It’s like watching Ingemar Stenmark struggle through a combined run. 🤷
Mark Fox44 said:Honestly, it feels like a complete miracle that we even made it to the finals. To be perfectly blunt, Peter and Lake have been a total disaster in almost every game we've played; our wings have been playing like they’re stuck in slow motion, while Vory and Balić have been just... okay. As for everyone else? They've basically been invisible. If we want to pull off this win today, every single player on that roster needs to deliver their absolute best performance of the season. Dominiković has been doing a stellar job organizing the defense, which is crucial because we simply cannot afford to give up any fast breaks. Come on, shooters and wings—it's your time to step up! And if Balić can manage to stay on the court for the full 60 minutes without getting sidelined, we might actually have a shot. God, please let this work!
Look, honestly... Cupic and Somic kept us hanging on yesterday, maybe around the 45th to 50th minute mark, right when it felt like the Frenchmen were about to pull away and seal the game...
one of these should hopefully pull through just fine...
edit: also added those 5 links from live-sports-online, should be plenty of options there 🙂
btw, Jerry Fisher41, when did they even post those links over there? All morning it was just the same old stuff from yesterday... that's why I dug up these ones instead
Interestingly, the Danish word for 'medal' sounds almost identical to our slang for a 'token.' 🙂
Back to the point: I guess the Americans are playing better right now, but the French were favorites against us too, so we'll see. It just comes down to whether they play with heart.
The Germans were tearing it up in the first half, but here comes the Danishman to shake things up...
Personally, I’d rather see the Germans in the finals. I think they might be a slightly easier matchup for us at the end, plus the crowd would probably be on our side. ;-)

It's because in the placement rounds, that was the only single game played for 5th place. Usually, you have playoffs for 5th-8th, 9th-12th, 13th-16th, and so on...
I suppose we should talk about Fortaleza. It’s a decent enough spot, I guess, though maybe it isn't everyone's cup of tea. kaže: Based on the results from EuroBasket 2008, Norway and Sweden are moving on to the Olympic qualifiers.
Alright, then why on earth did they even bother playing a game for fifth place? 😕
I tried digging through the International Handball Federation website for an answer, but I came up empty. Nothing.
