David Torres2 said:That’s exactly what I was getting at. If he loves eating huge portions, he should at least pick things that are low in calories. Like, have some potatoes with a big salad, or toss some boiled beans or chicken breast into a green salad instead of heavy sides. He could eat pounds of that stuff and still not gain weight because the sheer volume will tell his brain he's full.

The only non-negotiable is cutting out the sweets and junk food.
At the end of the day, he’s going to have to find that inner drive himself. Wishing you guys the very best.👍

True. You can make anything happen with enough willpower, but that’s exactly where people struggling with mental health hit a wall. For them, unhealthy food is often their main coping mechanism.

Sophia Kern43 said:What was the point of this thread then, if not my reflection on the mods? The conclusion that I’ll just be a "spectator on Psychology" doesn't come from the debate itself, so I don't see why we even had the previous exchange since you've already decided to take offense. And complaining about a ban isn't the place to gossip about random users.
Enjoy your reading.

I couldn't care less about your "reflection." It's not like I invited you to a debate in the first place. I didn't expect to be chased down by some boogeyman here, either. I was writing to the users who, like me, are fed up with a handful of moderators using subforums to vent personal frustrations and stroke their own egos. And from those same users, sure, I was hoping for at least some silent solidarity.
"Gossiping about random users"? Give me a break. You've got two grumpy women running a subforum like it's their own private backyard.

Sophia Kern43 said:If this topic were open on the US board or some other subforum, I’d get it. But this whole narrative about what kind of women someone "deserves" doesn't fly with me here in Psychology. Fine. I'll try to be faster on the trigger next time.

Deserves is a clumsy word choice, but saying that woman is inviting irony with her behavior isn't an exaggeration. What happened there wasn't even more than just irony. Whatever. Now I know every single thing I post will be taken literally (even though I'm never literal, just like I'm not actually Keith Allen3), so I'll probably just stick to lurking in Psychology. You could have embraced my eccentricity, much like you accepted Descender. That guy posts on the Suicide thread in a way that, if read literally, would make it seem like right now he's pushing a desperate person over the edge.

Look, just let me be who I am without you projecting some kind of malice onto me that isn't actually there in "reality."

...plus, looking at the OP's intro, it’s pretty obvious she's being driven by nothing but her own biases, so at the very least from a male perspective, she deserves a healthy dose of mockery.

What you're failing to grasp in all your rigidity is that it wasn't meant as support.

I’ve been flagged for points more than a few times over on the "Psychic Couch" subforum, which eventually led to getting banned by the moderators Ace and Sophia Kern43. It honestly blows my mind how little sense of humor these two have; they take everything I write literally. My username, Keith Allen3, should have been a dead giveaway that I’m not here to be dead serious. A little wit or even some dark humor would be a massive improvement on a forum dominated by users posting about their bleakest, most miserable moments.
For instance, if someone copy-pastes the song "Maniac" by the late Din Dvornik within a thread like "I can't stand men approaching me," it isn't an incitement for men to go out and assault women in real life. Neither Ramb Amadeus, who wrote "Maniac," nor Din Dvornik, who performed it, ever intended for those lyrics to be taken as a call to violence—they were just having fun. That’s exactly how the song should be understood. This total lack of irony and this rigid, narrow-minded attitude is just incredibly dull and depressing.

This is such an incredible HBO series about twin brothers dealing with one brother's struggle with schizophrenia... honestly, I can't recommend it enough!

Sent from my iPhone using Reddit

Watched it. Also recommend. Great acting.

Dennis Young57 said:I used to pray out of necessity or desire, but that isn't how it works. I expect some sort of profound answer, yet there is nothing. How is that possible?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I can say that ever since I followed one specific piece of advice—that "everything I need, I already have"—the response has been unexpectedly immediate. It arrives within minutes of the prayer.

Prayer exists within eternity. That is why I quoted the priest. Time and location are irrelevant. Duration does not matter. What matters is the state of the spirit. My consciousness is the key.
Consciousness is my foundation. It is who I am.
The Lord's Prayer facilitates this. In prayer, I align my internal state with faith.
The response is always present.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
If my faith is tied to time and space—which are merely fleeting things—then the answer to my prayer will be just as transient. Everything follows the logic of faith.

However, there is one thing that does not follow a simple action-reaction pattern.
That is this: God's absolute love believes unconditionally in every single one of us, in our shared connection.🎉

Since we live in a relative and shifting world, there is no reason to curse anything. Any kind of thought can cross my mind. Anything can happen. But the essential thing is knowing who I am.
What is my foundation?
Through prayer, everything can be transformed into joy and wonder.
Prayer, or rather the relationship itself, is the means by which we glorify ourselves.🙂

It's not just that I'm bored with praying; honestly, I'm starting to get really scared of it.
Before I started praying, things were manageable. Once I began praying deeply every single day, everything collapsed into unbearable pain and hopelessness. Now, good luck trying to pray again after all that.

"It isn't that" means what, exactly?

Dennis Young57 said:My thoughts regarding prayer and its duration:

A Quote from a Coptic priest:
"Everything you worry about here on Earth is temporary, except for prayer.
Every single minute spent in prayer originates from eternity and returns back to it."
🙂

But what if you spend months praying with everything you've got, only to have life hit you so hard you're standing on the edge of suicide?

You’re lucky. Do you actually pray? If so, is it your own words or just reciting set prayers? How much time do you spend praying each day?

crimsonviper48 said:Is anyone even active on here anymore? I’m curious about something... what I see when I close my eyes... because the first unnatural thing I saw while my eyes were wide open was death. I was only six years old back then... and I used to have these night terrors, but God would always give me this guidance... I listened to Him, and honestly, things just worked out better for me in life... once, I actually slipped on some soap in the bathroom and it was almost over—I was falling straight onto my back—but then this invisible force just caught me and set me right again. I just said, "Thank you, God." It happened when I was only six... anyway, getting back to the point, does anyone else see things behind their eyelids at night? Like visions of martyrs in hell or demons and stuff... has anyone else experienced this? To me, it doesn't even feel like schizophrenia, it just feels... strange. These antipsychotics sort of numb me out, they make me feel dead inside, specifically Qpin... but if I just take Modafinil and Prazin, it’s like I haven't taken anything at all.

I’ve had two similar experiences myself. No explanation for how I walked away without a scratch when I was staring down certain death. Once, I fell backward off a ledge about ten feet up onto some rocks. Another time, during a stupid competition with two other guys, I tried jumping headfirst over some lounge chairs into shallow water. I flipped awkwardly, lost all control, and there was a jagged rock right where my head was headed. By any logical standard, that impact should have killed me. It’s like it simply wasn't my time. I don't have any other way to explain it. It felt like God sent an angel to look out for me.

Nicholas Barnes74 said:There’s also a difference in how heavy the sins are, right? - It's not the same thing as just being sinful, versus being really sinful, or even extremely sinful.

Yeah, you made a good point—Christianity is based on, I mean, one group of people centered themselves around the existence of Jesus and built their own religion from there. But do you think Jesus wanted to be just "Christian," or was he more of a teacher, a healer who wanted to bring all the people in this world together in peace?
People witnessed his miracles—they weren't witnessing a religion. Faith came from those testimonies, and then faith formed into religion through history. Religion was supposed to be this unified community that honors Jesus, promotes Jesus' teachings, brings people together, and actually lives out its faith. Now, whether that's actually how it works... well, everyone has their own opinion on that.
How would the Christian Catholic community look at us unbaptized folks—people who don't belong to any specific religion, but still honor and believe in Jesus Christ?[/I]

Well, that's just how it is.
As someone part of that community (though I don't love the term since I'm kind of an individualist), I think God knows best what's in anyone's heart... and since MM is an atheist, I honestly think God might save him before He saves me.

Who is this MM who's supposedly so close to salvation?

crimsonviper48 said:Honestly, you guys... I’m just sitting here reading this forum today and man, I thought I was the one dealing with schizophrenia, but you all have truly mastered what the professionals call "word salad"... I am genuinely lost tonight. My eyes were jumping from the second line to the third trying to make sense of anything, but nothing connects... anyway, how are you all doing? As for me, I'm somewhere in the middle. I stay on my meds, though the psychosis still creeps back in sometimes. It’s not really voices for me, though... I think I heard actual voices maybe four times in the last three years. For me, it's more like when I close my eyes to sleep, things start happening... like driving through a desert, or little people dancing around a campfire, or flaming skulls and demons... it’s terrifying. And then there's the paranoia, mostly when I'm riding the subway or the bus. My first psychotic break was surreal... I was busy working, judging people, when suddenly, out of nowhere, it felt like the Virgin Mary appeared and told me, "Don't worry, dear child, the world will end in 2035." The second time was this strange light that kept shifting colors, like a weird sun reflection... it was so disorienting. The floorboards even started warping and bending... nothing too crazy at the time, I guess. I didn't even realize I was losing it; I just figured, okay, I saw what I saw, let's move on. But when the panic attacks started hitting, I couldn't handle it anymore. That was probably the first time I actually saw a psychiatrist... or maybe my GP sent me after a hallucination, I can't quite remember. I just remember being on an IV drip that felt so incredible, like I had stepped straight into heaven... who knows what they gave me. I spent six stints at the local psychiatric hospital and, well, that's my story. Alongside the schizo, I've got borderline too.

It’s basically a vision.
Who's going to survive those twelve years? That's what worries me. It's a long time, man.

Casey Bennett said:How on earth can you be so sure that Arash's friend swapped their handle to that specific one? From what I can see, they didn't even change it; they just showed up on the forum already using it.
I am referring specifically to the protocols regarding switching from one username to another, which are laid out clearly in the opening post.
Once a name change is officially approved, I will leave a note in the thread where you originally requested the change for none, then you can just send the link over to Nica. 🙂

Fine. Thanks.

Casey Bennett said:Apostrophes aren't allowed. I mean, you really could have just used one when you were first setting up your handle (I assume).

When you go to change your username, you can pick something entirely different since you're a "new user," but symbols and punctuation are off-limits—just look at the first post.

I saw someone with the name Arash’s friend. How does that work? Whatever. Let's not overcomplicate things. Let's just stick with none.
