Honestly, Land of Opportunity is a total disaster. It’s just a bad movie. I couldn't quite wrap my head around what Wenders was trying to pull off... it's just packed with the most tired stereotypes imaginable. For instance, there's this former Vietnam veteran who suddenly feels this intense patriotic urge to defend his home against an Arab guy just collecting boxes that might hold bomb components... My favorite part had to be when he says, "That laughter sounded Arabic to me. Definitely." Just awful. Maybe Wenders was trying to poke fun at Americans, but for me, it was just unbearable to watch.

But look, you don't really have any ground to stand on when you're clearly missing the mistakes yourself (given how much you struggle with basic grammar). You get what I'm saying?
You're quite the "tough guy," aren't you? Honestly, it feels like people have been walking all over you your whole life. Claiming you recorded a VHS tape from a Democratic Party broadcast? Does it even have an ending or a beginning? Hahahaha, you're such a joke.
I'm sure your DivX files are "definitely" encoded from a high-end digital master, right? Get a grip.
Little Girl, you’re being pretty ridiculous. You've completely lost touch with reality. Just stop.
I bet you'll never actually hold down a job because, in your mind, other people are "limiting" your freedom. You can't stand the idea of showing up at a set time or leaving when the shift ends. You think you know better than everyone else.

Haha, fair enough. If that's the case, feel free to just take a few screenshots and spend a couple of hours struggling through it. I’m with you—those kinds of movies are pretty pointless for me too. Like, sure, the visuals are stunning, but there's zero substance. They just fly around, clash swords, and have some wordless romance... Blah.

P.S. By the way, I really can't stand those Hollywood "actioners" like National Treasure (just to get ahead of the inevitable 😉 comparisons).

I see. So you think every single role he takes is identical, regardless of who is behind the camera? To me, along with a few of those young actors in NYC, he’s honestly one of the most frustrating things I see in American cinema right now.
The notification about the screening was posted less than seven hours before it actually started. I was planning on catching another movie earlier in the lineup, and I also wanted to coordinate meeting up with a friend before the show.
I mean, how are we supposed to post an update online about a schedule change before the change even happens? For instance, the decision to move New Jersey from Thursday to Friday was made around 3:00 PM on Thursday. It took five minutes after that for the news to hit the website.
I realize that when the schedule shifts, it messes with everyone's plans, but sometimes these changes are just unavoidable.
Regardless, I just don't get how an error like that can even happen.
It’s pretty simple, really. It was the second to last day of the Sundance Film Festival 2004, and this was the very last screening—the tenth one of the day. The crew has been on their feet since early morning, and by midnight, everyone at the central hub is basically running on fumes and caffeine, so mistakes like this are bound to happen (especially when you throw a few unlucky circumstances into the mix)... So, yeah. We all feel terrible about it.
"Czech Dream" and "Garden State" are the next up on the list. "Czech Dream" is playing tonight (Thursday), followed by "Garden State" tomorrow night (Friday).
Michael Mitchell, calling movie watching a "fringe hobby" is just nonsense. Don't be ridiculous. By the way, you won't even get a chance to see most of these films in theaters once the festival wraps up.
It’s not bad. I felt like it lacked a little bit of depth—maybe because I was paying too much attention to the soundtrack (Eminem has put out some incredible stuff)—but because of that, some of the more trippy elements, like that scene with the plane flying over Chicago, were actually really cool.

P.S. And then there's that part where they have to talk to the guy and say: - Hey, would you want to be with me? - Well, I don't know if I'd want to be *with* you, but I'd definitely want to sleep with you. 🙂
Jimmy, aren't you going to tease us just a little bit? I have a feeling your musical taste is absolutely top-tier, but come on, don't leave us hanging. You're basically our idol. Go ahead, give us something.
If I remember correctly, the premiere happened about seven months ago in San Francisco. After that, they showed it in Napa Valley, too. This is actually the first time it’s playing here in NYC.
I watched this about six months ago. Is it actually worth the watch? 😉 The movie is honestly great. Some people went in expecting some deep dive encyclopedia on the New Wave and ended up feeling "disappointed"—which feels like a huge stretch when you consider how much time has passed and how little footage from that era actually survived. Mirkovic didn't intend for it to be a textbook. It’s definitely worth seeing. It's a really nice "blast to the past" that captures the vibe of how things used to operate back then.
