If they point toward a UTI, you definitely need a urine culture.

My doctor didn't send me for a urine culture.
Should I ask for a referral?
She just put me on Cephalexin.
Right now, I'm sticking to tea, cranberry juice, and those cranberry plus Vitamin C capsules.
I actually went ahead and got these tests done on my own because the pain was getting bad.
I’ve been having this intense pelvic pain; a few nights ago, it woke me right up.
It felt like everything was just being forced out of me.
It also hurts when I pee, and there was blood on the toilet paper.
Can someone help me make sense of these urinalysis results?

leukocytes 100 /μl; ++
erythrocytes 50 /μl; +++
bilirubin neg.
ketones neg.
glucose normal
nitrites neg.
urobilinogen normal
proteins neg.

urine sediment:

erythrocytes 5-7
leukocytes 20-25
casts /
crystals /
squamous epithelial cells 2-4
1-2 small epithelial cells
some bacteria
some mucus

thanks!
Yeah, does anyone know if I can get a karyotype done at a hospital other than Johns Hopkins?
Or maybe someone knows a private clinic that handles them.
Any info would be a huge help.

😉
Thanks for the help, everyone.

So, I finally got a hold of Rib today. The lady there told me they won't even see patients for coagulation tests if a specialist from Bank of America has already given their opinion. Apparently, I have to go to Peterson now because they’ll likely issue a gray referral based on a new exam—Rib only works with Peterson.

🙂

Edit:
I called Peterson right after that, and they basically gave me the brush-off. They said they're sorry, but since I wasn't hospitalized at their facility (I mentioned this was regarding a miscarriage), they won't help. They would have handled the coagulation tests if I'd been admitted, but they aren't issuing any of those gray referrals that Rib keeps talking about.
Help please!
Which of these tests are immunological and which ones are coagulation-related?
I think LAC is a coagulation test.

-anti DNA antibodies (Anti SS DNA, DS DNA) - anti SS-A antibodies (Anti RO)
- anti SS-B antibodies (Anti LA)
- anti Sm antibodies
-anticardiolipin antibodies
-antiphospholipid antibodies - antiphosphatidylcholine
- antiphosphatidylglycerol
- antiphosphatidylinositol
-lupus anticoagulant - LAC
-Factor V Leiden
-Factor II - prothrombin G2021A
-PAI I

Basically, when I asked about the coagulation tests at Mayo Clinic, they told me via email that those specific tests can only be ordered by a specialist from Johns Hopkins Hospital using a special referral form.

I don't get it—what kind of Johns Hopkins specialist? How am I supposed to see them? And what’s this "special referral" deal? I have my medical history and lab results from a doctor at Mercury, but even with all that, I'm stuck. I haven't even tried calling because I feel like I won't get any real answers over the phone anyway...
If anyone knows how this works, please explain it to me.
thanks

Also, I've been trying to schedule a karyotype test for myself and my husband for a few days now, but nobody is getting back to me. When I call, they won't give me a straight answer... does anyone know if it usually takes this long just to set up an appointment? Please, be free to inform me.

thanks guys

Karen Grant9 said:I'm sorry, but I had a seven-tier cake from Orient where every single layer was a different flavor, and it was fantastic. Everyone kept eyeing each other's plates to try different kinds. I have no idea where you got that information.

Piece of Cake makes excellent mini pastries...every single one has a distinct flavor so you actually know what you're eating. It’s not like those other bakeries where they just use the same cream for five different types of treats.

Look, I'm just reporting what my friend told me. That's the intel I have.
🤷
Since we already ordered our cake somewhere else, I didn't bother asking Orient about their wedding options.

Can I get some info here?

How many pounds of cakes and pastries per slice are we talking about at Monica’s and the local bakery in Ann Arbor?

The restaurant I talked to said I’d need about 40 pounds of sweets to feed 150 people.

Chris Sanchez11 said:I think hers was about $28....

Wedding cake prices really depend on the flavors and how many guests you have. If you go with three layers using things like Black Forest, White Forest, and some third thing I can't remember because I'm clearly not a baker 😵 it works out to maybe $15 per person—that's for a "standard" wedding cake, like three tiers for 100 people. Your best bet is just to shoot her an email http://slastice-kod-katice.com/ you'll find all the contact info there. 🙂

Thanks... 🙂

Thanks again!

Either way, I'm going to check out Katie's Sweets 🙂

Check out our wedding cake. 😍
The whole spread—cake and sweets—came from Katie's at that Hershey's shop in Small Town, USA. Right now, they’ve got a deal on wedding treats for just $9 a pound.
Everyone absolutely loved them, so if you ladies are looking for something sweet, definitely give them a shot. I can't recommend them enough. 🙂

What’s the usual price for a pound of mixed pastries when they aren't on sale?

And how much did the wedding cake cost?

Btw—I love your cake! 😉

Quick question about switching primary care doctors.
A few months back, I switched my GP (along with a couple of family members), but honestly, I’m just not happy with the treatment, the diagnoses, or the overall vibe.
Is there a way to move to a new doctor by citing a breakdown in the patient-provider relationship? If I go that route, do I need to provide more detail? Basically, would it help to be extra specific with the explanation to make sure Medicare approves the request to change doctors?

Quick question here
I have an approved annual allowance for adult diapers for my grandma.
Since I have to file a new quarterly claim every three months based on that annual approval—which determines how many supplies she gets for that period—I tried to get her paperwork signed by her doctor today. Long story short, I got shut down. Apparently, under some new Medicare regulations, a primary care physician’s diagnosis isn't enough anymore; it has to come exclusively from a specialist.
The problem is, Grandma is bedridden, and there's no way I can get her to a specialist right now. Has anyone dealt with this? Is what her doctor told me actually true? I used to handle all of this through her regular GP without any issues or need for a specialist's sign-off.
So, is it true that for approving diapers, pads, and briefs, you strictly need a specialist's diagnosis/report now, or is a note from a primary care doctor still sufficient to submit to the insurance board?

First off, jadesailor14, I wasn't asking for your opinion on my grammar. If you’ve got nothing intelligent to contribute, feel free to just sit this one out instead of getting all worked up over the slang I use... (And yeah, maybe "sit this one out" isn't textbook English, but it gets the point across, and if I want to talk like a normal person, I will!)

Scott Allen10: Thanks. We actually stopped by the GP because we need him to sign off on some referrals, but honestly, why bother? Some doctors act like they can't read their own lab results, or they won't even suggest something that doesn't require a prescription. I don't mind spending the money, but I'd rather just get things done.
I'll do some digging online to see what these companies offer, and if I'm lucky, I'll hit up a few local pharmacies tomorrow to see if they have anything in stock.
Best wound dressing gauze? in Health ·
My dad’s dealing with a wound and some inflammation in his groin area. At the hospital, they dressed it with something that looks a bit like an oversized feminine pad, but with adhesive strips running around the edges—roughly 6 x 8 or 10 inches. It’s basically a thick layer of sterile gauze with a self-adhesive border.
The hospital staff told us they don't supply them, and honestly, they seemed clueless about what it's actually called or where to find it. I’ve already hit up two local pharmacies and even checked the hospital supply shop, but nothing. We need this for his regular dressing changes, and I haven't been able to find a single thing online either.
Has anyone ever come across a dressing like this? Any idea where I can actually track this down?
Sick leave policies & questions in Health ·
My buddy actually told me the same thing—to get my appointment set up with the dentist first, then hit up my primary care doctor to get a sick note signed.

thanks guys
Sick leave policies & questions in Health ·
My work schedule is a total joke. I found this amazing dentist who takes my insurance, but he only sees patients in the morning—and there isn't a single day I can actually make it in.
I'm out of PTO, and honestly, I have zero interest in paying full price at a private clinic when this guy could do everything for free under my plan. But I'm in a bind because my tooth is killing me and the gum is starting to swell...👎
Can a dentist actually sign off on a sick note? Looking at the policy, it says stuff like "Dental Caries, unspecified: up to 5 days." It seems like you can get up to five days for something like this, so if anyone has been through this, how did you handle it? Are dentists actually willing to write those kinds of excuses?
I’ve worked forever and have never once called in sick, but this is ridiculous. It shouldn't be this hard to coordinate basic healthcare with a regular job.
thanks

Look, I can tell you for a fact regarding the passport office: you’re going to need an ID or a passport. On top of that, grab some official paperwork that shows your Social Security number—an old tax document or birth certificate works fine. Basically, any official paper with an SSN on it. If you don't have that handy, a Department of Justice certification confirming your SSN will do. You definitely need a birth certificate too, just so they can verify the link between you and your parents. Also, one of your parents needs to come along with you, and obviously, they’ll need to bring their own valid ID and proof of their SSN.

What should I get for a godparent gift at a Baptism? in Students & Teens ·
I picked up some white gold jewelry—earrings and a bracelet—for my goddaughter’s big day, plus I handed her some cash so she could grab whatever else she actually wanted.
She was absolutely thrilled with it.

I actually got something similar for my own company once; jewelry is always a win.

Everyone's obsessed with the latest tech right now, but you can snag a solid bike for around 2000 dollars$833 if you look for it, or maybe a nice watch, or even a great camera (my personal go-to is an Olympus Mju 740/750). A smartphone is also an option if you think she'd use it... though it really depends on whether she’s the athletic type—in which case, get the bike—or more of a tech geek who'd prefer an iPod or a camera.

A Bible wouldn't be my move. Let's face it, a 15-year-old today isn't exactly itching to dive into scripture. That said, I'm not saying you should go overboard with gifts costing 10,000 dollars or more.$5000
If her parents haven't already made sure she's reading the Bible, then it's probably not my job to step in and start preaching to her now.
But hey, that's just how I see it.
Everyone has their own take on what this milestone means and what kind of gift fits best.

My main thing is being able to book afternoon slots since I’m stuck at work every morning until 4 PM.
And obviously, I just want decent doctors.
