Candyman (2021) in Movies ·
Grace Sanchez50 said:Honestly, I have a newfound appreciation for Malignant after sitting through that absolute train wreck of a movie. 👎

I’m struggling to decide which of these two was the bigger disaster. Malignant isn't even a "bad" movie in its own right—it's just a painfully mediocre, bottom-of-the-barrel rip-off of that Japanese film, Evil Dead Trap.

Chime referral code for anyone interested. If you get all the necessary hoops jumped through on my account by $100, which means I will transfer $67 over to you, and $33 stays with me. Fair deal? 🙂

https://revolut.com/referral/josiplviy!AUG2AR

Basically, you need to sign up using the link above, verify your identity, and pass the KYC check. Then, you’ve got to top up the account—and listen, use a card rather than a bank transfer unless you enjoy paying unnecessary fees. You also need to order a physical Chime card and make at least 3 purchases using the card and complete 3 purchases All before The 14 th July 2021. While you're waiting for the physical card to show up in the mail, you can just use the virtual ones or, even better, those one-time disposable cards inside the app for online shopping. The bonus money only actually hits your account once everything is done perfectly. No shortcuts.

If you end up using my code, shoot me a DM so I know who did it. Also, let me know once you've finished all the steps so we can settle up 🍿
Overdrafts and negative balances: What's allowed? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
vividraven79 said:Is anyone actually pushing you to go into debt?
All this is going to end up just shrinking people's credit limits, which is really just asking for more trouble down the road.

Look, I don't even carry an overdraft myself, but if you do, you're definitely better off not paying those extortionate interest rates. ☕

Exactly. It’s such a shame they’re going to curb yet another way for banks to pick our pockets—since those guys are already bleeding us dry with fees and interest rates that are frankly insulting. ☕

You can't just use someone else's token.
You need your own mtoken or the security key from your mobile banking app. None of that matters if you haven't even set up the agreement yet.

Actually, maybe it is possible? I mean, Chase reader cards aren't personalized, and the fine print suggests other people can use them too. I haven't actually gone out and tried it myself, so I couldn't say for sure.

To get started with Bitcoin, you’re going to need a Chase account, which is running me about $4.00 a month these days—that covers the online and mobile banking stuff too. If you're looking to dodge those fees entirely, there are other ways to go; I've looked into things like Goldman Sachs for their free options. Honestly, I'd suggest giving PayPal a shot, but they can be a bit of a headache sometimes because they'll demand an authorization every single time you try to top up. If you're feeling adventurous, you could always just borrow a card reader from a friend and see if that does the trick for you.

It started acting up immediately, and now, to make matters worse, it has gone and deactivated itself entirely. I can't seem to get it back online no matter what I try... it simply refuses to accept my PIN. For reference, I'm running iOS 9.3.6.

Man, I dealt with this exact same headache on android back when I used m-Zabe. You type in the correct PIN three times and... nothing. Just dead air. The app locks you out entirely, and then I’d have to go through the whole hassle of doing a manual redistribution via e-Zabe with fresh codes just to get things moving again. Honestly, it was the same old story every two or three months.
Which bank should I choose for a new account? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
cosmicviper18 said:Hey everyone,

Which bank generally offers the lowest monthly maintenance fees, followed by the cheapest online banking?
You know that old saying—it’s not that I don't have money, I just refuse to waste it! 😁 😁 😁

PNC Bank SuperSmart (checking account) plus mobile banking (just the app) for $0.00 per month. Just grab the PNC Bank app from the Store (Apple or Google Play, depending on what phone you're lugging around) and open the account right through it. You can't actually do this at a physical branch. If all you need is a bare-bones account, that's your cheapest bet. The second you start asking for anything extra—like a loan or a credit card—they shuffle you over to a "standard" account and start hitting you with those lovely fees.

Honestly, nobody even bothered asking me anything until I was literally closing out my account at age 32. That old student union plan used to run me about $1.75 a month. 😁

Well, look, Bank of America owns the majority of JPMorgan Chase over in Canada, right? They hold more than 90% of the shares. So, what kind of logic is it to claim JPMorgan Chase isn't operating here? Bank of America *is* JPMorgan Chase. Period. It’s just that, unlike us neighboring countries, they never bothered to strip the name off the banks they picked up on the market.

Just a heads-up: if you've been clicking around a bunch of different links—or maybe you started signing up earlier but didn't quite cross the finish line—there’s a chance the system might snag you under someone else's referral. So, just watch your step and make sure you're using this one.

The drill:
1. Sign up
2. Deposit $30 into your account (you can always toss in more, but $30 is the baseline minimum deposit)
3. Order your free card to be sent straight to your house
4. Shoot me a message so I can sort out your bonus
5. Make your first purchase, and Chime will drop $18 into your account within 7 days

Look, it’s not like the merchant is actually holding your cash hostage. When you go to swipe your Chase Mastercard, what’s really happening is that Mastercard gets an order to verify that you actually have, say, $33, effectively earmarking those funds from your account. They’re just making sure you aren't bluffing about having the money. After that, they sit tight waiting for the seller to give the green light that they actually want the payment before passing it along. There's always some kind of payment processor acting as the middleman in the whole dance. If things go sideways—and let's be honest, they usually do—Mastercard doesn't necessarily pinpoint the exact glitch immediately. So, just to play it safe, they tend to hold onto that money for up to 30 days—meaning they've already pulled it from your balance—before they finally decide to drop it back into your account.
Chase Mastercard Standard card in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
If it fails twice, you’re looking at a double authorization. It still counts, though. See, when a reservation hits, the bank pulls those funds immediately—it’s just sitting there in limbo. The credit card company holds onto that cash until the merchant actually asks for it, or until the hold expires and it finally trickles back into your account. 🤔
Chase Mastercard Standard card in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
^Moguce je, honestly. With credit cards, they can still pull funds for up to 30 days, whereas with debit, you usually see everything settle within 7. And don't even get me started on Mastercard—they are painfully slow when it comes to this stuff. I actually went down to JPMorgan Chase at the start of last month to close out my account, and the whole ordeal dragged on until just a few days ago, all because of Mastercard. First, I have to sit around for another month waiting for the final Mastercard statement to clear—you can't just walk into the branch and settle everything on the spot; you have to wait until that very last transaction, which was some tiny amount, maybe a couple hundred bucks, hits the books. So, I show up a few days after everything supposedly cleared, and the teller is clicking away, ready to finalize the closure, but the system won't let her finish because it thinks there are still outstanding Mastercard charges pending. Even though both my online banking and the actual Mastercard balance showed zeroed out after that first sweep, the computer just refuses to close the account. She tells me she’s submitted a request and will reach out if anything else pops up or if it all clears smoothly. Then she starts venting to me about how their bank systems are incredibly clunky; apparently, even if the Mastercard bill is paid, she has no idea when their internal accounting catches up, and we might still be stuck in one of those weird limbo situations with credit card processing.

Are we talking about an official statement here? It’s entirely possible you're looking at a pending authorization hold from a transaction that didn't actually clear—you know, those annoying little ghost charges that hang around before the money finally settles back into your account. Honestly, it’s always probably a good idea to just give JPMorgan Chase a call and double-check the actual status of the transaction.
