Pain behind the knee in Health ·
That’s exactly how it felt for me—just that dull, nagging ache and this weird "shooting" sensation behind the knee, just like you described.
It ended up clearing up after about a week, though I guess it was either just luck or maybe those painkillers I was taking twice a day

I’ve noticed it seems to flare up whenever I’m being a bit too sedentary

I’ll probably book an appointment with an orthopedist once I'm back home in the States in a bit, just so they can take a look.
Right now, I'm not really feeling any pain, but when I had that ache behind my knee a few days ago, I was
taking some painkillers because the thing just wouldn't quit on me.
But yeah, I'm definitely going to go get checked out—just to see what's actually going on, I guess. It'll at least give me some peace of mind if it happens again.

Hey everyone!

So, I’ve been dealing with some knee issues lately—my doctor mentioned my patellas are slightly out of alignment, which is why they tend to "pop" whenever I straighten my legs.

But for the last few days, there’s been this nagging pain right behind my right knee. It’s not like, unbearable agony or anything, but it’s just... there, most of the day. It feels like this dull ache, almost like something is catching or tightening up behind the joint—I don't even know how to describe it 🤷
It’s mostly concentrated on the right side of the back of my knee. If I press on it, I don't really feel any specific tender spot,

It’s been going on for about three days now. It totally disappears while I'm sleeping, but the second I get up and start walking around or even just sitting down, it comes right back 😵

I can't get back to my doctor for another month since I'm currently out of the country, so I was wondering if anyone else here has dealt with this kind of "dull" pain behind the knee? Any experiences?

I stumbled upon this one recipe—it's basically a natural remedy—so give it a shot if you want. Maybe it’ll actually help you out 🤷

Here are my photos 🤦—it actually took me a while to work up the nerve to post them...

5'8", about 132 lbs, 26 years old
I finished an Insanity program back on March 8th, but I haven't really worked out since because I got sick—feeling better now, though
The only exercise I'm getting lately is all the walking I do for my new job
I'm also deep in study mode prepping for an exam, so my schedule is pretty slammed right now, but once that's over, I'm jumping right back into my routine

The first pic was taken Jan 21st, and the second one is from around March 29th

My biggest struggles are definitely my hips, my glutes (especially that little dip underneath), Jane Doe, and cellulite 🙂
Any advice at all would be super helpful 🙂
Maria Fisher46 said:If you're on birth control, those total T3 and T4 numbers aren't really reliable—you'll need to get fT4 and fT3 checked instead.

I’d definitely suggest letting your doctor at the Mayo Clinic know you're taking them, because birth control can totally mess with your thyroid hormone readings and lead to these kinds of confusing results.

Best, 🙂

I'll be sure to... thanks 😉
Maria Fisher46 said:Hey there,

The whole set of results looks a bit funky—what stands out to me is that these seem to be the total T4 and T3 levels, rather than the free ones (fT4 and fT3).

Total thyroid hormone concentrations depend heavily on protein carriers in your blood. So, certain conditions that mess with those protein levels can actually bump up your total thyroid numbers, even if your thyroid itself is acting totally normal—it’s just that there are more "carriers" floating around. Things like being pregnant, genetic factors, or even taking birth control pills (estrogen) can cause this kind of shift.

At the end of the day, the clinical picture matters most—your actual symptoms and any other meds you might be on. I'd bet the doctors at the Mayo Clinic will probably want to run things again to check your free hormone levels and look for antibodies.

Best, 🙂

Thanks so much for the reply! 👍

It's totally possible it's from the birth control—I've been on them for ages (like, 6 years now)—but I think I'll take a break once I finish this current pack...

just let me know what the big endocrinology experts say.

I was actually kind of hoping you'd already posted an answer 😬

I'll give you a heads-up once I figure out what this specific combo actually means—currently Googling everything to see if there's any info out there.🤷
So, I went in for my thyroid blood work yesterday and just picked up the results today.

It says this:
TSH ref.interval 0.35-4.94 ------ my result is 5.264
T3 ref.interval 0.89-2.44 ------ my result is 2.75
T4 ref.interval 62.68-150.84 ------ my result is 107.11

Basically, TSH and T3 are both high. My doctor couldn't really wrap his head around it—he actually said the combination is kind of weird
since those two are elevated 😕
so he gave me a referral to go see the specialists over at the Mayo Clinic...

Does anyone here happen to know more about this, or maybe dealt with something similar? 🤷

Thanks in advance! 😉

Wait, did I miss something? Or am I just staring at a blank screen again—I guess that’s just my luck today. Anyway, what's up? kaže:
It’s happening everywhere—everyone I know is doing it, so I guess my boyfriend and I are officially jumping on the bandwagon too. 😉

Haha, I guess I’ll just have to change things up then—since I’m always the one footing the bill, and I don't even work—so yeah, time for a pivot. 🤦

I'll be heading out to Canada soon too. 🙂

So, since I’m posting this here, I figured I’d just throw a question out to everyone.

Like, say you’re in a relationship, and you aren't working yet—just focusing on college.
When it comes to buying stuff like tablets, do you pay for them yourself, does your boyfriend just grab them for you, or is it more of a fifty-fifty kind of deal?🤷

😉
melloworca6 said:Sure, let her make the Papu and all those wipes too.

I had a Pap smear about 6 months ago and everything turned out fine.
I don't think there's any point in applying anything right now, since I'm expecting my period tomorrow... and honestly, it doesn't even itch on the outside—it's more of an internal thing, you know, like on the inner labia and a bit further in 😢
plus, my period is going to last until Thursday, so I won't be able to get to the gynecologist for another two weeks. But I'll go then and just tell them what's up
the last time this happened was five months ago, and now it's happening again. I just don't get it
should I ask them to do a swab? 🤷
Sometimes I get some discharge, but it’s usually pretty normal—kind of a yellowish color.
About two days ago, things started itching, and now the discharge is this weird yellowish-green shade. It’s still itching, too—but more like an internal itch rather than just on the surface. I’m trying my best to ignore it because if I scratch, my labia gets all swollen and sore.🤦
My gynecologist is only in on Wednesdays, and even then, it's just a super short appointment, and by the time the itching actually kicked in, it was already too late to catch him.
I didn't want to go out and buy any vaginal suppositories since I'm due for my period this Saturday, and I wouldn't be able to finish a full course of treatment anyway...
Yesterday, I picked up some baby powder and dusted a bit on there—honestly, it seems to be helping for now. The itching isn't as bad; it's manageable.
Is that even okay to do?🤷
I've got a question. Sometimes I get some discharge, but honestly, it’s usually totally fine—just clear and normal looking.
But then Tuesday night rolled around and everything changed. It started itching like crazy, and I made the mistake of scratching... which was a huge error because my labia swelled up, and then it felt like it was burning every single time I had to go to the bathroom. 🤦
Now the discharge has gotten thick and looks sort of yellowish-green. The itching hasn't stopped either, but now it feels like it's coming from deep inside rather than just on the surface, and I'm trying my best to just ignore it so I don't scratch again...
It's driving me absolutely insane 😢
My gynecologist is only in on Wednesdays, so I'm kind of stuck—I don't know if this will just pass by then. Everything seems okay as long as I can stay calm, but the second I have to use the restroom, the itching comes back and the discharge just won't quit. 🤷
About a month or two ago, I had a Pap test and all my other results came back perfectly fine.

melloworca6 said:And what was the reason for the urine test?

Well, the results aren't terrible, but honestly, it might not be a bad idea to run a urine culture too—just for some peace of mind, I guess.

I had this one time where my labs showed elevated white blood cells and maybe some bacteria or whatever... but then when I actually did the culture, everything came back totally clean.

My OB-GYN told me to get bloodwork done and provide a urine sample...
Actually, never mind—I'll just swing by his office tomorrow and have him take a look at the results. 🤷
