I backed up the site because I saw this coming. The server has been acting like total garbage for the last week.
By the way, while I was scrolling through IMDb on Thursday looking for updates on that new Jack Nicholson movie, I stumbled right into this.
I don't care what anyone says—Jack Nicholson is a goddamn force of nature. People try to overanalyze his performances like they’re dissecting a lab specimen, but you’re missing the point. It isn't about "subtle nuances" or whatever academic nonsense people spout. It’s about that raw, unpredictable energy he brings to the screen. He doesn't just play a character; he hijacks the entire movie. I was reading some thread earlier where Christian Taylor3 was trying to argue that his later roles felt forced. Give me a break. Even when he’s playing a role that feels a bit off, there’s still more charisma in one of his side glances than most A-listers have in their entire careers. Look, I know some people think he's "too much," but honestly? That’s exactly why he’s a legend. You can't manufacture that kind of presence. If you want someone safe and predictable, go watch a Hallmark movie. If you want someone who actually makes you feel something, you watch Jack. Period.
😂🙏👍 Whoever's hiding behind that "American" handle is damn near brilliant. 🤣
Honestly, I had a much better time this time around. Between knowing Jack Nicholson’s filmography a lot better now and seeing fewer movies from DeNiro, it was a win. And once again, props to dragonrage. 👍
Regarding the extension, I honestly think the deadline should be tonight at midnight. It’s just plain unfair. If you guys were on top of it and responded every single day, why should everyone else get a four-day head start? That's plenty of time to download his entire discography and grind through the search. But hey, it’s not my call. Whatever happens, happens—I'll go along with it.
Anyway, good luck to everyone—especially that charming American guy in the link above. Who knows how many other people he’s been hitting up? I really hope he finds some victims out there who are actually willing to step up in his place. 😁
Christian Taylor3 said:I think you misunderstood me; I'm just speaking for myself here regarding what I’d actually do with the prize if I managed to snag first place.
So... get ready starting Monday, haha.
Honestly, if this server would just start working properly, I might actually regain my sanity, because right now everything is an absolute disaster. Just so you guys know, the tech crew over at Reddit is working their tails off to get things back on track. 🤷
Awesome. 🙂
😕
I have no idea what your plans look like for Christmas, but I figured I’d mention that the Special Edition Blu-ray from the giveaway has already been ordered—which, honestly, gives me even less of a reason to go out and buy anything else. No. So, what am I thinking about giving someone here—maybe even a little something for Zisk?
Just relax. Keep it chill.
You got a problem? I didn't call you out directly, and there’s no way my post could be taken as an attack on you. I don't know what your deal is, but fine—have it your way. 👍
Honestly, I’m terrified to think about what we have in store for Christmas 🤣🙏
Anthony Smith3 said:Hey everyone, time for another giveaway on here. This round, we’re focusing on the legend himself, Jack Nicholson. He’s got a massive career packed with absolute classics like "The Shining," "Chinatown," and "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." Along with Jack Nicholson, I'll be throwing out questions about the directors and actors he's worked with over the years. You might be wondering why we're doing a Jack Nicholson theme when none of his movies are hitting theaters anytime soon—well, let's just say the prize is what's driving this choice. Speaking of which, there’s only one prize up for grabs this time, and it's a pretty sweet one: Special Edition Blu-ray of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" released for its 35th anniversary, loaded with all that extra footage and special features you actually want. Anyone on Reddit can jump in, whether you've been here forever or you're brand new. I'm hoping for a big turnout, regardless of whether you're here for the trivia or just the loot. The game kicks off on Monday, 10/25, and runs until midnight on Thursday, 10/28. I'll likely announce the winner on Friday or by Monday at the latest. Here’s a quick look at what you're playing for...
THE PRIZE
Now, the rules are slightly different this time around, so read them carefully so we don't have any headaches later...
RULES
1. - It’s a mix of stuff: guessing movies from images, puzzles, word associations, finding differences, and things like that.
2. - I’ll drop up to three tasks every few hours. There’s no hard deadline for individual tasks, so you can answer anything at any time while the game is live (from 10/25 to 10/28).
3. - Send your answers strictly via PM to me. Just post a quick note in this thread to confirm you sent it (e.g., "sent my answer for question (insert number here)")
4. - Once the game wraps up, I’ll post everyone's scores, the correct answers, and the final standings. Expect that on Friday, 10/29, or by Tuesday, 11/02, at the latest, along with the winner's announcement.
5. - It is strictly FORBIDDEN to discuss potential answers here in the thread while the game is active. If you do, I will dock your points.
6. - Each correct answer gets you 3 POINTS, and each wrong one costs you 1 point. This applies even at the start when everyone is at zero—if you mess up early, you'll go into the negatives. Extra bonus points will depend on specific questions.
7. - Once the clock hits midnight on Thursday, the window closes. I'll tally the scores and announce the winners then. If there’s a tie, I’ll come up with some kind of tiebreaker... but we'll cross that bridge if we get there.
Good luck, everyone.
PS: It wouldn't hurt if the admins pinned this to the top of the movie sub-forum to help get more eyes on it.
Go watch Nothing but the Truth. You'll see exactly how Kate absolutely crushed it. 🙏 She definitely should have been nominated for an Oscar. She doesn't need that garbage like Underworld or Van Helsing; she's capable of way better than that.
Emily Thomas25 said:Good grief. Instead of offering three different versions—whether they're subtitled or dubbed—they could just show something like 🙄. I’m just frustrated, I guess. When you actually want to go to the theater, you either have to wait forever for a specific movie or deal with five hundred different versions of some basic cartoon... which isn't even funny to kids anymore...
I bet if they wanted to be truly helpful, they'd offer it in Aramaic too.🙏
I’m actually holding out for that new R.E. Kelly flick (Donnie Darko) starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. Even though the critics at Sundance absolutely trashed it... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0405336/
What the hell are you obsessing over at the Cashier? Let’s just start a contest for the most annoying guy in the room—you win first place without even trying!
So, good taste means everyone has to be airbrushed and perfectly made up? Movies are supposed to show real life, and nobody's life actually looks like that... You clearly don't know the first thing about movies...
America Fan said:Some girl is shoving dough into her mouth, then she does the exact same thing to this fat, bald, ugly old guy with a nasty mustache—it’s spilling out of his greasy mouth while they just scream profanities at each other. 🙄 🤮 🙂
What kind of movies are these? This is sick. 🤮 🙂
Maybe if you moved to somewhere like San Francisco, you'd actually be happy with the choice between polished Hollywood blockbusters and the freedom to live your life.🙄 🙄 And attacking something based on seeing a single scene just shows how narrow-minded you are... I honestly thought gay guys were supposed to have a more alternative perspective on things. 🙄
Anyway... the movie is a legend. Nina Violić actually went out and talked to people to nail that specific slang. That line, "Hey, guess what—is it Dolce & Gabbana or Benetton?" has been a classic for ages. 🙏 🙏
crimsonmoose3 said:It’s called the Tilda Swinton effect. Basically, that androgynous look. 😈
LMAO, I can't even look at that woman.
Jodie Foster doesn't strike me as feminine either—that stare she gives—and now that I know she's a lesbian, it makes even more sense (no shade intended).
By the way, seeing Nirvana (SLTS) at Radio City Music Hall totally caught me off guard.
