And for heaven's sake, tape some fabric to the bottom of the jigsaw blade—specifically that area circled in the photo—so you don't end up scratching the glass or metal surface.

Jose Lee14 said:So, how much did you drop on that PC Modding project? 😛

For my current rig (check the signature), I spent maybe $700-$$267...
back when I built it a year or two ago.
Charles Martin16 said:This might sound like a silly question, but I'm planning to do some PC Modding on an old case, and I was wondering what tools you use to cut the panels?

And won't the edges stay sharp and jagged after cutting?

Use a coping saw—get one with fine teeth—and then just hit the edges with some sandpaper to smooth them out...

edit:
Whoops, looks like I've been running a month behind schedule... 😬

You might be able to cobble something together based on that idea—try creating some kind of >air tunnel<. Basically, use a flexible ducting tube, connect it directly to the exhaust, and then rig it so that the tube has two or three side vents. At the very end of the tube (wherever that hole in the back of your desk or whatever is located), you just attach a high-quality fan. (Something like this) would act as an adapter for the tubing)
Now, the obvious question follows: what kind of flexible material should you even use, or does it even need to be flexible? You’d probably have to ask a plumber or someone in a similar trade to get the right specs.

Testing...🙄

I wouldn't recommend doing that; just grab some adhesive vinyl sheets, print whatever you want on them, and make your own custom decals.

Well, its primary purpose should be cooling 😍,
let the owner explain why they even bought it...

It looks great from the outside, especially that "grab and go" handle 👍. The case itself is solid enough, but...
The interior isn't anything to write home about—mostly just stock components and way too much cable clutter...

Still, there's potential here.. 😛

Anthony Myers5 said:Can someone recommend a decent Ve-mil case under $200 that actually looks good and has solid cooling performance? I need something...

Just grab something basic for $66, then spend those extra $134 on high-quality components to build something truly custom. For $134, you could pick up three 12cm fans, some neon lighting, a potentiometer (nothing too pricey, obviously), and some plexiglass... suddenly, you've got a one-of-a-kind rig.
To me, it feels like a complete waste of $200 to pay for a pre-built setup that anyone else can just go out and buy themselves.

See? I told you we were right all along. 😛

Look, just pull on it as hard as you can, and right before it snaps, it should pop out. 😬

It’s not exactly loose. Honestly, it hasn't budged even a millimeter.

Check the inside to see if those plastic clips are visible. I remember trying to install a DVD drive in an old desktop once and pulling so hard I was certain the whole chassis was going to snap... but it held up.
You just need to apply a bit more muscle.

I actually tried to fix this by taping some electrical tape over it, and I have to say, besides the aesthetic downgrade, 😂 it actually improved the usability.

Now, let's talk about how much sense that makes... imagine waiting for those 95°F summer days when you're gripping that mouse and sweat is literally pouring off your palms. That electrical tape is going to heat up and turn into a sticky, gummy mess, attracting every bit of dust in the room. Then you'll be scrubbing at it, peeling the tape off, starting all over again... what a headache.

Good grief... what on earth is happening to this forum?
People are starting threads about absolute nonsense, selling $67 gift cards for $50, peddling discs, or trying to hawk their airbrushing work... I have to ask, where exactly is this all heading?

I stumbled upon this decent little shop that makes all those car customizations—you know, decals, wraps, and whatever else comes to mind... if only I could fix their ridiculous schedule, since they only put in four hours of work every third day.😁....

Hello World!!!

It would be highly beneficial if you could provide some photographs of your project so we can actually verify the >quality< of your work....

Hey there,
does anyone happen to know where I can pick up something like this?

It looks incredible.

Thanks... 🙄
PC Modding in Desktops ·
You have to take it slow here, because if you speed up even slightly, those cracks start appearing like they’re about to snap. Mine is at least 4 mm thick, but even then, it’s still a damn grueling job.

Are you planning on using a jigsaw or...

Edward Peterson70 said:Is that Sonic running without any fans?
What kind of temps are you seeing?

From what I can tell, that blue fan on the side is blowing directly into it. It’s not exactly like the Sonic lacks airflow; that blue fan is sitting maybe an inch or two away, which is basically the same as being mounted right onto it. Honestly, it would be much more efficient if one fan was actually attached to the Sonic, and if you could just flip that blue one to blow in the opposite direction.

And yeah, that case of yours is tiny—that massive Sonic just makes it look even smaller.

I'm still waiting on a clear side panel to arrive, plus I've got a few bucks left for some cables to tidy everything up. Once it's all finished, I'll post the final photos.

Hmm... if you ask me, this is just the very beginning of the build. There are only two blue neon strips in there right now... and those cables are scattered everywhere like protesters running from a SWAT team.
As for the workspace setup—putting a monitor right next to a speaker?!!? Honestly, I wouldn't recommend that. I'm not entirely sure if it'll mess with an LCD, but for a CRT, it's definitely a bad idea.

And of course, they’d throw in some UV glowing accent just to make sure it catches everyone's eye.

Raymond Hernandez14 said:You can find similar plastic tubing—the narrow kind you're looking for—over at Pevec in various colors. They aren't even expensive enough to $13 justify worrying about the cost of all your cables!!!

Pevec? 🙏 Please. Zivic is the gold standard; they have everything you could possibly need. I picked up my own supplies there for $0.80. (I'm being dead serious)
