Nah, honestly, I just find this hilarious...
Here’s a quick list of jobs I’ve held—or am still somehow holding onto—despite being completely unqualified for basically all of them:

1. Editor-in-chief of an automotive magazine back when I didn't even have a license, let alone knew how to drive.
2. Director of an ISP despite having zero clue how to install Windows or deal with computers.
3. Writing for Penthouse, though... well, you guys get the idea.
4. Car journalist, even though I don't own a car.
5. Sales manager at a firm, even though I can't price my own worth and never bother trying.

I guess I could also mention that in the late eighties, I was tasked with clipping articles about Mickey Rourke from various American newsstands just to send them over to him, since the guy used to collect everything written about him. But I never actually sent a single thing (mostly because I wasn't really reading the mags where he might show up), and I definitely spent the twenty bucks I got upfront... So yeah, maybe that doesn't even count as a real job...

ari peka nikkola said:How on earth did you even hear about Gurmit Knorr? 😲 😬

Just so we're clear, Gurmit Knorr still lives in Newport, Rhode Island... he's probably listed in the local directory if you care to look. As for his citizenship, I assume he finally sorted that mess out by now... maybe...

You seriously think I’d know who the All-Star Team are? They’re literally the first names on my list... 😬

Anyway, it just hit me that besides Unknown, there's actually another guy who fits those criteria you were laying out earlier in this thread perfectly...

...Sherlock Holmes. 🤣

I guess you could say I wasn't exactly glued to my computer listening to music last week... 😬

1 Harry Styles All-Star Weekend
2 Air
2 Spiritualized
2 Calexico
2 DJ Shadow
2 Throbbing Gristle
2 Beck
2 Leonard Cohen
2 New York City
2 The Fall

This actually put a smile on my face.

Two absolute gems of headlines on the exact same topic, appearing yesterday and today:

The New York Post yesterday: The land where every girl will be saying "yes" today 😂 😈
The New York Times today: Mexico without the sea! 🙂

That headline in The New York Times is just pathetic... honestly, bottom of the barrel. I’m embarrassed they even put something like that on the front page... though, I guess it is kind of funny. 😈

But honestly, the solo Marsupilami run was just terrible... 😲

Carol Jackson45 said:Nobody’s ever nailed a description of Jimmy Somerville better than this 😂

The write-up is solid, but honestly, half the reason Jimmy is such a legend is because he actually fits that vibe perfectly. Like, once the whole "pretty boy" thing faded away later on, all you really had left was that voice and—let's be real—mostly mediocre songs. But Bronski Beat... man, they were geniuses for packing that much pure frustration and rage into dance tracks instead of just making some loud punk anthem... 😍 If I were back home right now, I'd definitely be spinning the Age of Consent vinyl... 😢

Zachary Bishop82 said:The best Belgian comics:

I think I already mentioned this... ☕ Somewhere deep in the wilderness of this thread, though it was actually a Franco-Belgian list. And since René Goscinny was a Belgijanac, things like Asterix, Talični, and Umpah Pah definitely count towards that. As for Natasha, hey, a guy's got his tastes, but even she didn't make my top ten...

Edit: looks like Carol Jackson45 is way better at using the search function than I am...

😲 Like, seriously, does anyone actually hate Bronski Beat? 😕

Carol Jackson45 said:The best Peanuts ever:

I don't have a way to scan them right now, but here's the deal:
In the first pic, Sally is just standing there holding a balloon.
In the second pic, Sally is still standing there holding a balloon.
In the third pic, Sally is standing, holding a balloon, and asks, "So, what's so funny about balloons?". 🤣

stormyviper11 loves me 😍 😍 😍

😳 Okay, this is getting a little creepy...
Wait, let me focus. I need to pull myself together, act like Charlie Brown, and actually think... about that little redhead...
Oops... 😳
Looks like I messed up again... 😬

Sooo.. where are Peppermint Patty and Linus? 🙂

They're somewhere behind third place. 🙂

Everyone mentioned except The Beach Boys (well, up until Final Fantasy VII, obviously). 😬 ☕

Out of all four bands, I’ve only really listened to dinosaur, and even then, not much... so I probably shouldn't be weighing in on this.

For sure.
Though, honestly, it took me forever to get there. It wasn't until I really dove into the Peanuts Treasury a few years back that things finally just... clicked. Everything made sense then...

My top 3 favorites:

1. Lucy 😳
2. That tree that eats dragons
3. Woodstock

granitecrane said:Screw Hotel California. I mean, look, it’s a killer track, but I’m honestly sick of seeing the same tired debates circling a couple of songs year after year... it’s always either this hotel or Zeppelin’s \"Stairway to Heaven.\" You guys are more annoying than a migraine. Hotel California is basically just a song about some chick... end of story.

For real. It reminds me of the endless arguments over the hidden, mystical meanings behind the album "Defense and the Last Day," where the lyrics are so weird and vague they practically beg people to make stuff up... When a buddy of mine actually asked Zdenko Kolar from Idol what that record was even about, the guy just gave him this smirk and went, "It's a joke, man!"

All this talk about philosophy and mysticism... The Eagles are just a bunch of dudes from Los Angeles who don't know how to do anything except play their instruments, drink, and get high (don't get me wrong, I actually dig their music). Where does anyone get the idea that these guys could grasp the secrets of the universe and hide coded messages in their lyrics? They got high, started playing, some half-baked words slipped out, and suddenly there's a song. That's it.

mainscream said:top 5 Pet Shop Boys tracks

1. It's a sin

I was just looking over Rolling Stone's list again and felt the need to jump in and say I'd definitely swap out Rent for It's a sin...

Honestly, it kind of creeps me out when other people have the exact same favorite tracks as I do. That doesn't usually happen to me...

Dana Anderson4 said:2. That restored statue of the athlete found near Maui

🙂

Look, I actually care about this. I’m literally planning a whole business renting out houses to wealthy foreign divers—you know, capitalizing on all that hype about how rich the local reefs are. And honestly? It drove me absolutely insane reading in the morning paper that they pulled up some relic near little Maui. It's massive, huge , you absolute culture-obsessed hacks! 😠
