I can't quite recall which specific article I dropped this in, but I know I wrote this paragraph somewhere: "In places where they call it a flathead, you’ll find German cars. Where they say screwdriver, it's probably an Italian import. But where they use the term 'Phillips head,' there's definitely a linguistics professor living in the house." 😎

someone said:screwdriver or screwdriiver.

it’s halfway between the two: screwdriiver. which eventually just turns into screwdriver in how people actually talk...

I hate it when someone gives me a one-liner and calls it a day... 😢 😬

Honestly, I don't think Jesse Sanchez60 will be hearing much of anything for years... 😁 Just a bunch of different, mostly super loud ringing in his ears instead...

Anyway, changing gears here—does anyone actually know how they determine right-of-way rules at a roundabout? ☕

, since that would basically be the same thing when you're merging onto the freeway.

I mean, it's the same deal—you have to turn right—but the other sign just gives you a little extra heads-up...

Talking about traffic laws in New South Wales? 😕 😬
Look, even over there, they use the inverted triangle sign at a roundabout... so there’s really no room for debate in that scenario.

hollowseal33 said:that sign just means there's a roundabout ahead, which implies you gotta let the people already in the circle go first since they have the right of way😢 🤔 😢

Nah, look, when you see something like a white left arrow on a blue background, that’s just telling you where you’re allowed to go, not who gets to move first. Mandatory directions are about direction, period. Right of way is handled by stop signs, yield signs, or those annoying ones telling you you're on a main road...

hollowseal33 said:Yeah, if there's a roundabout sign involved, specifically one that marks the intersection as a roundabout, 👋

which falls under the category of mandatory commands basically telling you to yield to the traffic already circling the loop, 🙂

Man, I totally missed that part. That sign just dictates the flow of traffic, but it doesn't actually change who has the right of way in the grand scheme of things...

From what I can tell, everyone’s pretty much on the same page anyway, so I don't really get why everyone's getting so worked up over nothing... But whatever, I'll stick around just in case things actually get interesting and someone starts a real fight...

Man, I miss Spider... he hasn't posted in forever... 😢

Man, what a headache... Let's just break it down simply:
Every roundabout is clearly marked, so if you're already in one, you've got the right of way. But, if you happen to run into an unmarked one by mistake, the rule is that the vehicles entering have the priority. It’s basic logic, honestly. This whole thing isn't actually complicated, and it definitely doesn't deserve this much drama...

Samuel Murphy6 said:Carol Jackson45, pull up that link you sent me—the one with all those different triangles. Let’s just use some basic logic here:

You’ve got a stop sign, which means you don't have the right of way.
Then there's your standard yield sign, which also means you're stepping aside.
And then you've got the yield sign with the roundabout symbol, telling you to let everyone already in the circle go first.

If none of those signs were actually there, then we'd be looking at the right-of-way rule. 🙂
In that case, you could've pulled into the roundabout and had the advantage. That’s basically what my driving instructor used to tell us during one of his little stories back in school...

Spot on.

Man, this afternoon actually spooked me. Am I still loyal to my car collection, or have I somehow developed a craving for this unnatural nonsense known as buying model airplanes? Is this some new obsession hiding deep in my soul that I just didn't realize was there?

Feeling desperate and totally morally bankrupt, I logged onto eBay just to see if my old hobbies were still calling my name... trembling, I pulled up the page...

To make a long story short, I bought this. And this. And this. And hell, I even grabbed this.

I'm perfectly sane. The world is beautiful again. 😎

Two of the absolute dumbest things I picked up today while running errands over in Chicago... just basic survival supplies for tonight:

1. A Zeppelin Hindenburg model kit
2. A Red Baron Fokker model kit

I actually told myself: "Dinah, you collect cars, maybe an engine or a truck if you're feeling wild, but definitely not planes. You don't need this stuff."
Clearly, my willpower is non-existent. 😢

Tihomir b? Don't know him by name, unless he goes by some kind of nickname, maybe...
Though, I didn't go to school in the small town, so my knowledge of people from back then is pretty limited—mostly just the folks who went to the big high school over in the city. And there weren't even that many of them to begin with.
