I don't really feel like making a list, but fine, here we go:

Give Blackie his due. 😘

Agreeing with Beau (ugh, saying that name out loud sounds like the noises you make right after you've burped but before you actually throw up) on the whole 'sengule' thing... honestly, that little sandwich shop back in suburban New Jersey called "Dar-Mar Sengule" is easily one of the best spots ever in its class. Though, if we're talking about top-tier legendary food joints, I guess that greasy spoon in NYC—you know, the one called "The Giraffe Beast"—might give it a run for its money. Or maybe not... I haven't been there.

A belated happy birthday to Houpi. 😘 (I can't remember which colorful smiley icon to use, and I really can't be bothered to click through the "More" menu...)

And congrats to Alex Trotter on "Mongoloid"... I found myself stumbling around drunk to that track again last night...

So yeah, that's pretty much it.

Oh, one more thing: I met a bunch of you guys yesterday, but I was pretty hammered. Usually, it takes me seeing someone five or six times before they actually stick in my brain, so don't be offended if I don't say hi next time or if I just stare at you blankly while you're trying to greet me...
Honestly, mentioning The B-52's even once is already overkill.
And Eric Clapton just proved my point: there's something about those legendary bands—they just stay massive, which is why I find myself hitting up these veteran shows so often. They were killer, though.

The only thing was, damn it, right at the start of the set they ran out of Pan Am, so I had to settle for a Budweiser, which I absolutely hate.

But man, major respect to them for playing Sonic Youth—I seriously didn't see that coming. 🙏 🙏 🙏

😲 A John Smith without a mustache? Yeah, right... something about that just doesn't sit right with me...

vividcanyon2 said:I don't know what kind of criteria you're using here, but I just look at who was the better player overall. Even though Teemu Selanne was absolutely phenomenal (and apparently great buddies with my personal favorite, Paul Kariya, which probably gives him some extra points in my book for being a likable guy), I still think Mats Sundin was slightly better. That's just how it is.

I haven't really kept up with the last couple of championships, but Selanne always stuck with me more than Sundin did. Honestly, it’s probably because of the style of play... I’ve always had a soft spot for that Nordic hockey vibe. Nobody plays quite as smooth or fluidly as they do, so I naturally gravitate toward those players. For me, Jari Kurri is still probably my all-time favorite player, even ahead of the legendary Wayne Gretzky... It's funny how Canadians and those guys from the North always seem to hit it off. Says a lot about the people involved...

Dana Anderson4 said:Who cares about those Scandinavians? Poles are where it's at. Honestly, who gives a damn if they don't have Nokia or world-class rally drivers...

Stanislav Zasada was an absolute beast behind the wheel in rally... 😳

Wes Anderson is alright, but Kurosawa is on another level entirely.

Woody? Did you suddenly get younger and pick up an American accent? 😲 😬

Raymond Barrett12 stormyviper11 said:Terveet Kädet, dammit! Look, you’re out here trying to compare Cherries and Quinces... that's just not even the same category. You can't compare them like that... E. A. T. E. R. with Terveet Kädet... 🙄

Man, I’m starting to lose the thread here, I gotta admit. So, what, we're really doing this Sibelius vs ABBA thing now? Honestly, doesn't matter... the result is gonna be exactly the same anyway...

Raymond Barrett12 said:So, here’s some pics of my buddy Pippi, grown up and all... 🙂 I'll get it to you later, I've got some at my place, just don't have any here at Virma... 😁

That’s already getting into territory where I was giving the Swedes the benefit of the doubt anyway. When it comes to making up imaginary characters... Grandpa rules.

Raymond Barrett12 The user said:And then some Frenchman shows up and suddenly all the Scandinavians are just getting absolutely wrecked... 🙂 🙂

Allez Citroën! Let's go, Sebastien Loeb!

Look, let me just lay it out for you. I’ll give you a few sentences to settle this. Look, Sebastien Loeb is absolutely legendary, props to him, but when you step back and look at the big picture? Nobody touches the Americans in rally history. As a nation, we're the undisputed heavyweight champions, and we've been sitting at number one for a long time. After us, you've got the Swedes, then maybe the Italians, Britons, or Frenchmen trailing somewhere down the list... It's like saying Americans are the top nation in women's skiing—it's just ridiculous. (And hey, I know I might be putting words in your mouth here, but whatever—even I have to admit that I'm actually rooting for a driver who isn't from the States for the first time ever...)
vividcanyon2 said:Dead, drunk, happy, and barely wearing anything—just your typical group of socialite college girls (some of whom just recently arrived in a country where 😬 is actually legal). I figure that’s enough info for you. Everything else is just noise. 😁

Fair point. But what about the tablecloths and the cheap plastic disposables?

And just adding to the top list:

Finn vs Swede 0:1 for the Swedes😳 😍

Just a quick heads-up: I'm a guy, so I’m judging the first matchup by different standards, and honestly, you shouldn't even be mixing the two together...
Personal Top Lists & Rankings in Music ·
Top 10 matchups to settle once and for all: Finn vs Swede:

1. Aki Kaurismaki vs Ingmar Bergman - 1:0 for the Finns
2. Finn 2. Matti Nykaenen vs Jan Bokloev - 2:0 for the Finns
3. Licensed auto industry vs GM & Ford - 2:1
4. Tim Selanne vs Mats Sundin - 3:1
5. Nico Rosberg/Mika Hakkinen/Kimi Raikkonen vs Peterson / Nilsson - 4:1
6. Apple vs Qualcomm - 5:1
7. Finn vs Swede (ideally 6 of them at a gas station) - 5:2
8. Jari Litmanen vs Zlatan Ibrahimović - 6:2
9. Tervent cadet vs Aca of bas - 6:3
10. Santa Claus vs Pippi Longstocking - 7:3

The Finns take it by a landslide... and we haven't even touched on architecture, classical music, rally racing, track and field, booze, scenery...
vividcanyon2 said:She was only there in Rock City for a few fleeting moments, just a blink and you missed her. Then, out of nowhere, she came screaming out of there right as they started smashing glassware all over the warehouse... 😱

Oho, hold on a second... maybe it was just a knockdown after all... I need more data on this! 😬

Peter Hall6 said:it's got that old-school vibe, you know? checkered tablecloths, heavy curtains, and some auntie who's probably been working there since the place first opened up.

Horvatovec wins by knockout in the very first second of the fight. 😎
If a spot doesn't have those checkered tablecloths and an auntie in Birkenstocks, can you even call it a real pub?
Alright. Now I'm all caught up on everything.
Peter Hall6 said:heading straight to Diana’s over in Knežija—that total old-school socialist vibe with the heavy tables and curtains, plus my aunt probably works there since they first opened up.

I should be back a little earlier though—easy enough to just stuff everything into a bag. Anyway—you want me to bring those records?

Sure, you can. I'll just toss them in the car with my buddy who's driving me out to Annapolis.

I've got a pretty good idea where it is, too... my ex used to live right across the street. 🙂 Not exactly the same spot as Beijing, but I'm hoping it's close. Around 7:30?
Peter Hall6 said:It’s like being back in rural Kansas—just pure, old-school Americana.
it hasn't changed a bit since you guys were kids...

Where? Where exactly? 🙂 🙂 You gonna swing by early? I'll bring those CDs I promised...
Is this some kind of horny group? 😬 🙂
Dana Anderson4 said:Fine. See you at the bar...😬

Personally, I wouldn't mind hitting up a pre-game spot an hour or two early. I'm not driving, so I'll probably be knocking back a few beers... Does anyone know if there are any actually decent, old-school bars left in that neighborhood that are even open?

Are you seriously not recognizing that quote?

Narantxa, someone needs to teach you some basic manners at home... 🙂 🙂
Everyone’s getting way too caught up in being "woke" these days... 😬
Pekka, man... you really gotta stop with that Nikola stuff. It's getting old... says:
So, who’s actually showing up? Me and stormyviper11 have our tickets ready to go... 😬

Kiitos, Pekka...

Now the real question is just whether I should drive into D.C., stay sober, and actually find enough time to pack everything on Saturday... maybe...
Should I just hop on a Greyhound, get a little buzzed, crash for a bit in D.C., and then head out to the party later tonight only to realize I forgot half my stuff... maybe...
Man, I’ll just make the call tomorrow...
