There’s no sense in arguing over taste. Period.
🤣 🤣 I love this phrase; people always reach for it when they have zero actual arguments left. 😂

Don't mess with me.🙂
I grew up in Germany, so they mean a lot to me.
Man, I would love to see a Germany vs. USA final.😍

6 semifinals in the last 7 tournaments 👋 👋 👋
The Germans had 5 finals in their last 7 tournaments 🙂
If they make it to the semifinals, things are going to get ugly against the French. They didn't look like they could even hold their own against the Germans.

The folks over at South Park pretty much summed him up perfectly there.
Someone please tell me the title of that episode.😁
So, Kusturica has gone and started his own film festival. I heard names like Steven Spielberg, Ang Lee, the German screenwriter Thomas Mann—who’s worked on a bunch of films with Francis Ford Coppola—and even Audrey Hepburn were there. It really struck me how much ambition Kusturica is pouring into this thing, especially after watching that report on Life; it’s clearly not about cinema at all, just a platform for political posturing. Basically, Emir spent the whole time lecturing everyone on politics, and even Handke was there downplaying Milos's crimes. Sure, he got media attention out of it, but what kind? Purely political.
To me, this whole thing is just tacky pageantry.
Now, I’m not sure if this belongs in the politics section or the film section, so I'll let the mods decide—though I'm certain the politics thread will just turn into a massive flame war without any actual debate. 😢

I’ll give you this much: since movies are expensive art forms, they definitely have plenty of commercial traits because investors expect a return. But not every filmmaker treats their work like a mere commodity, unlike how everyone handles blockbusters these days. My point was simply that it isn't all black and white.🙂

Babbling White. At least try to back up your argument.
Nathan Myers28 said:Why is everyone being so unnecessarily critical? I mean, look—he isn't out there churning out remakes of existing classics, but in my opinion, his movies are actually decent enough to watch. Honestly, I can't wrap my head around how anyone could claim that Bad Boys isn't a good film.☕
I'll probably just watch it myself to see if it's actually bad. It likely is.
☕
I just found myself thinking about Independence Day. My favorite part has to be when the President gives that big speech right before the battle on the Fourth of July 🙄 or that moment when the genius realizes they can take down the aliens with a virus 🤣 which, let's face it, South Park poked fun at 🤣 Back in elementary school, though, this was the ultimate movie for me. I used to write it down in my journal as my all-time favorite 🙈
Samuel Smith5 said:People really sleep on Armageddon. You’ve got Bruce Willis playing the guy who basically refuses to die while saving the planet from some politically incorrect asteroid, and then there's the stunning Liv Tyler... well, she's just there being gorgeous. Oh, and Ben Affleck is in this too,
🤣🤣🤣 I watched that episode of South Park.
Thanks 🙏 I think I'll start with Pearl Harbor and then move on to Armageddon.
Man, I’m actually about to sit down and watch some Michael Bay just to see how much I can stomach. I honestly can’t remember the last time I sat through such a total blockbuster disaster. Not that I’m looking for any excuses 😁
EDIT: Which one of his movies is the absolute worst to start with?
What kind of advice would you give to the younger generation? 🙂
566 since mid-October 2005. But honestly, ever since I started college, I barely even watch them anymore.🙂
Cary Grant is the ultimate example of a wooden actor from the Golden Age of Hollywood. The guy is just mediocre.

Hey, I was just watching something a moment ago. Do the last one. I’m honestly just stunned by how incredibly beautiful and charming Jean Seberg was. A total stunner. To be fair, I wouldn't exactly put her in that "sex kitten" category this thread is looking for, but she definitely belongs in that group of unconventional beauties.
Sex appeal? It’s all classics: Ava Gardner was one of a kind, and then there's Rita Hayworth.
Yeah, she's gorgeous. Especially when you consider Godardian muse Anna Karina. 😍
northernangler17 said:Pride and Prejudice 😉 or check her out in Brokeback Mountain, even if her role there was pretty minor... still, she definitely made an impact. 😬
Yeah, I remember. She was great in that one, but how about her in The Devil Wears Prada?
