So, about five days ago, this weird burning sensation in my throat just started out of nowhere. It hits me every few minutes—just a sharp sting, nothing else. Lately, my throat feels pretty dry most of the time, and there’s this light coating of mucus. Even my tongue has this faint white film on it. I don't have a cough, and my nose isn't running at all. But man, if I talk for more than a minute, I start getting slightly hoarse. To top it all off, I've been under an insane amount of stress lately.
I’ve been dealing with these exact same symptoms for almost a week now! I’m honestly at a loss for how to handle this. My doctor is pretty useless, so while I’ll definitely go back for another appointment, I’m not exactly holding my breath for an actual diagnosis.
Angela Wright said:You aren't going to fix broken capillaries with eye drops—that's just not how it works. But if you're staring at a computer screen for more than three hours a day, you really should be using lubricating drops meant for contact lens wearers to stop your eyes from drying out, like Refresh.
If you're dealing with an actual infection, you need an ophthalmologist or your primary care doctor to prescribe something like Systane. Just go see a professional and get it handled right. You should never mess around with your eyes on your own.

Seriously, go to an ophthalmologist. No over-the-counter drops are going to give you a permanent fix. Let a doctor take a look; the exam doesn't even hurt.
Chest tightness/burning sensation in Women's Health ·
So, for about a month now, I’ve been getting this weird sensation of warmth in my chest every once in a while. Naturally, my mind went straight to cancer. I went in for an ultrasound and everything came back 😍, but they couldn't tell me why I'm feeling this heat. I deal with some breast tissue issues, but I've never felt anything like this before, so I really don't think it's related to that 🤷.
Does anyone have any idea what else could be causing this?😕
Breast lumps and pain: What should I know? in Women's Health ·
So, I’ve got mastopathy in both breasts
The other day, my left one started itching like crazy, and when I finally checked, there was this little pus-filled pimple right on the areola. I squeezed it out, and ever since then, the area around my nipple has felt hot—like, noticeably warm—for almost two days straight. I went in for an ultrasound today, and they told me there’s no change in the mastopathy and everything looks fine. But honestly? This heat sensation feels super suspicious to me. 😢
Should I be worried? Is it worth getting a second opinion?

Just for context, I'm 24 and there’s zero history of cancer in my family.

How do I get over this?😕🤷

Oh, and just a quick heads-up—no, I'm not some fifteen-year-old kid.😁

Look, you know that saying, "all's fair in love and war"? You aren't going to get any peace of mind until you find out how he actually feels about you.
As for his girlfriend... honestly, the fact that you're feeling guilty seems a little weird to me.
I mean, they aren't married and they don't have kids together. How can you even be sure he'll be happy with her? People get divorced when a marriage fails, so why shouldn't relationships end when they stop working?
I really don't think you need to beat yourself up over this.
Plus, why wouldn't you think the same could happen to you? Someone could leave you for someone else tomorrow. That's just life!

And one last thing:
It's better to take a shot and regret it later than to never try and spend your whole life wondering "what if."

Good luck. 🙂

You know that old saying, "all's fair in love and war"? Well, you aren't going to get any peace of mind until you find out exactly how he actually feels about you.
Honestly, the whole thing about his girlfriend making you feel guilty? It feels a little off to me. Just weird.
Look, they aren't even married and they don't have kids. How can you be so sure he’ll actually be happy with her? People get divorced when a marriage goes south, so why wouldn't they just break up if the relationship isn't working either? It's that simple.
Look, don't go beating yourself up over this. You really shouldn't feel guilty.
Besides, why do you think you're somehow immune to getting dumped for someone else? It could happen to anyone. That’s just how life works!

And to wrap this all up, I’ll leave you with one last quote:
Look, you can either take the shot and deal with the fallout later, or spend your entire life wondering "what if." I’d much rather live with a mistake than live with regret.

Best of luck! 🙂

Thanks, man. Honestly, I don't think I'll be able to get any sleep at night until I finally give this thing a shot myself.

Look, I get it. Relationships always fall apart because of outside interference. Honestly, I can't tell if he's even happy with his girlfriend—actually, I’m pretty sure he isn't—but the whole thing just feels wrong. I've never been stuck in a position like this before. It's not just about her, either; it's the fact that he’s actually in a relationship makes everything ten times more complicated. But whatever. I'm going to give this everything I've got and see where it leads. Things literally can't get any crazier than they already are.😁

Thanks. I'll give it a shot. I'm starting tomorrow—assuming I run into him downtown tonight.👍

You hit the nail on the head there. I think most of us have been obsessively in love at least once—so I totally get where you're coming from, especially since you’ve lived through it yourself. That’s exactly why I filed this under psychology in the first place.😁
Yeah, that obsession feels amazing when it's new, but man, it eventually drives you absolutely insane. You're spot on there.🙂
Thanks so much for the advice. Since you clearly know what you're talking about, do you have any tips on how I should handle that big move I need to make?

Damn, 😍 you're sharp. I'm with you on everything you said—you hit the nail right on the head. But honestly? I feel like a total jerk even trying to get close to him because of his girlfriend. Even though I agree with the end of your post, I just feel weird about her. I don't know how to put it, it’s just uncomfortable. I can't stand the idea of getting involved with someone who's already taken. My girlfriends told me the exact same thing you did, though—that there's no other way to snap out of this obsession. It feels like you guys are all right on this one.😢

Timothy Ortiz2, I’d suggest stepping away from this one.

You will certainly find that true healing does not occur through the mere act of avoidance.

Alright, fine. What would you do if you were in my shoes?

Love the username, by the way.😍

Look, I’ve already said this: I want to actually get better, not just play games with it and feed some sick obsession😁

nimbleharbor13 said:You really ought to settle this matter once and for all for your own sake, because if you don't, you will find yourself circling back to these same unresolved thoughts indefinitely. It is quite simply a necessity for your peace of mind. So, I must ask, do you truly wish to be with him?

I get that, but how? You really think I should say something to him?
I checked out of that whole situation a long time ago. Honestly, I think it's better if I don't say a word and just focus on finding myself again😁.
Do I want to be with him? I have no clue. One minute I wanted it, the next I wasn't sure, and now I'm just in this headspace where I want to drop everything and kill this obsession once and for all. But I've been in this phase before🤣. The issue is, I try to dodge him and ignore his texts, but then I'll run into him by chance somewhere, he'll send me another message, and I'm right back at square one. And avoiding him isn't exactly easy when you live in a small town like this—I'm bound to cross paths with him eventually👎

Emily Gonzalez51 said:Look, given the fundamental biological differences between men and women, it should be incredibly simple to explain to him that he doesn't need a girlfriend living halfway across the country. He shouldn't even have to break a sweat making the point.🙄

Yeah, I get it. You're right, she probably could—but I’m staying out of this one. It’s a five-year relationship, and if you ask me, it was already circling the drain anyway.

nimbleharbor13 said:He isn't obsessed with you. He sends those texts and stares at you simply because it strokes his ego to know someone is pining for him. He thrives on the sensation of power, knowing he can influence someone's life without having to exert any actual effort or commitment. I would bet anything he laughs about it behind your back when he's hanging out with his buddies. To him, you are nothing more than cheap entertainment. The only way to truly break this obsession is to actually get to know him and realize exactly what kind of jerk he really is.
Having a romantic nature is a lovely quality, but you really ought to consider where this path is leading you.

Look, he isn't laughing with his friends because he doesn't even realize I'm obsessed. I never text him first, I never seek him out, and I don't even return his stares—I just happen to notice him staring at me. And yeah, I know him. I wouldn't be stuck like this if we hadn't been friends before.
And no, I'm not some hopeless romantic. I know exactly how messy this situation is, which is why I'm trying so hard to get over him.

brighteagle39 said:I truly empathize with what you're going through, and I can tell you from experience that obsessive infatuation is absolute misery. I went through a similar phase once where I was obsessively enamored with someone, and looking back, it never led to anything positive.
It was nothing but heartache and constant mental exhaustion. I honestly regret the amount of time I wasted on those feelings.
Being in love is one thing, but being obsessed is quite another, because that kind of intensity just tears you apart.
My advice to you is this: try to break free as soon as possible, because this state of mind is more draining than any sickness.

Man, I am right there with you. That’s exactly why I’m here—I need to get past this.😉

The brain chemistry goes totally haywire—it’s actually scientifically proven.

You really have to give it some time and just listen to your gut, you know? You need to figure out if it’s just a temporary high so you can diagnose the whole thing before getting too deep.

And hey, falling for someone doesn't always mean it turns into actual love. Usually, once the haze clears, you spot one massive red flag in them that brings everything back down to earth.

Then it's just a cycle until the next crush hits. 😁

You're making sense here. Sadly, the chemistry between us is off the charts.👎
He definitely has a few major flaws, but when you're already obsessed, it's way too easy to just look the other way😠.

Because he’s taken. They've been together for five years.😢Look, his girlfriend is studying abroad, so they aren't exactly seeing each other every day. But let's be real—it’s still happening.😢
