Well, in my lifetime, I don't think I've ever owned an ATI card that didn't give me some sort of headache. It was always one of those things where either the 2D performance was lackluster, or the 3D was buggy, or the memory acted up—it was either overheating or the drivers were just poorly optimized. I remember with my last one, the 2D clock speeds were so low that I actually had to use this overclocking utility just to bump them up every time I booted, otherwise, I'd get these weird lines all over the screen or the image would just start distorting. For the last six or seven years, I've stuck strictly to Nvidia. You just turn it on, fire up the PC, and everything works perfectly. I guess I'll never let an ATI card near my rig again, not ever.

But sure, looking at it broadly, I suppose I am talking nonsense—though maybe I'm not more or less nonsensical than anyone else.

If he actually wanted some helpful advice, I'd probably suggest he check his system logs and event viewer to figure out what's actually causing the machine to crash. 😛

I can't help but wonder why Windows doesn't just include a built-in boot troubleshooting tool that actually breaks everything down for you, maybe showing exactly how much impact every single individual service and process is having on your overall boot speed 🤔

It honestly just takes as long as it takes while the computer and the network try to shake hands. That's just how it goes, I guess.

I was just taking a look at my stats, and I guess about 90% of my cards actually come from Oštrić or Alete Ogord. It’s mostly just little bits here and there worth maybe 20 or 30 points, though I did have the good luck of being rewarded with 500 by Forti on the formula! :misli:

I'm a little confused about these infractions, though? I don't think I was ever really a troublemaker over on Politics, and certainly not on Military Technology—not that I’ve been very active on either board lately anyway. Is it possible you might have me mixed up with someone else?

I guess my ban actually happened because I started acting out right after AndrejX handed out warnings for some totally harmless posts on a rather obscure thread.

I think I might have let my emotions get the better of me a little bit, so sorry about that!

Maybe try turning on the setting to show hidden files first? Then you can just go ahead and delete that .~lock file. I guess either your computer might have shut down unexpectedly while you were working, or perhaps there was some kind of glitch with your Windows updates that left that lock file sitting there.

It sounds like you might have a bit of a loose or faulty USB port on your PC, because it seems like the drive itself is doing just fine, thank goodness—at least you've got a few other ports to fall back on for the time being. I suppose if that specific port eventually gives up the ghost, you could always just pick up a USB expansion card or maybe even look into a new case altogether. 😁

Yeah, I guess there really isn't any point in bothering with an external address at all. I was just sitting here looking over my own settings to see how everything is configured on my end!

I was thinking about setting up some port forwarding on my Arris TG3482V, specifically for WAN TCP/UDP port 80 to point over to 192.168.1.10 via TCP/UDP, and I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has run into any hiccups with that configuration lately!

So, it looks like all the external traffic hitting port 80 is being redirected straight to the local IP port 80, I guess!

I was just looking through my settings and I think I might have run into a bit of a snag—it looks like I don't have an external IP address showing up at all! 👍

Oh, please, don't you go trying to start some big dramatic feud between me and Judah. Honestly, he and I haven't exactly been the best of friends in the past. I think I corrected his grammar a few times—and, if I do say so myself, I was absolutely right to do so! I suppose that was enough for him to go running to everyone else and label me a total fascist. He really went after me because of Oštrić, too. But what can you do? I guess it’s always easiest to just pick a fight, isn't it? Still, strangely enough, we're actually on good terms now. Even though we see things very differently and sit on opposite sides of the ideological spectrum, we're both people with actual character. And honestly, I think that's something a lot of Judah's critics are sorely lacking—true character. You see, Judah really respects character, and he just can't stand people who are nothing but yes-men. I suppose that's exactly why he gets targeted so much in the first place.

Oh, I totally get that, and I suppose it would work if you just put it in the DMZ, but that really isn't the right way to handle things, I think. Not only is it a complete disaster from a security standpoint—it’s basically like walking around without any clothes on!—but you also run into the issue where you can't route different ports to different hosts if you go that route.
