Russia's invasion of Ukraine: Part 5 in War in Ukraine ·
James Chavez91 said:This has to be one of the absolute lowest points yet.
To just mock a man in front of cameras and the whole world... honestly, it's just gross.

I suppose it's similar to how some people here would wander through American towns that were burned down back in '91 and just endlessly moan about Harmon's little henchmen.

- inconsistency
- the kind of relativistic propaganda we've been talking about
- having too much prosperity for too long, which makes people forget how much worse the alternatives actually are

Democracy and the "Western system" aren't facing any unique crisis compared to any other era in history.

Oh, absolutely. If you ask me, the biggest issue with democracy is this irresistible urge to try and democratize everything else in existence, which usually ends up stripping those things of their power, influence, and assets, all while looking at the world through these incredibly rosy glasses.

After all, I guess that’s exactly why the original democracy ended up crumbling into dust.

mellownomad7 said:Something interesting is going on here. 😁
It seems to be tied to the SMF boards.

But it isn’t hitting everything. For instance, the new astronomy forum works fine, but if I try to dig through the old one, the whole thing just crashes.

http://www.zvjezdarnica.com/astroforum/index.php - the new one

https://www.zvjezdarnica.com/forum/index.php - the old one

🤔 Cheers,

Edit: To clarify, when I click the MilitaryLand link, it crashes instantly.
With the forums, it opens up, but then it crashes as soon as I click any link inside them.

For my part, Chrome seems to be opening everything perfectly smoothly. 🤷

When I try to relaunch, it gives me that "wasn't shut down correctly" prompt asking if I want to restore my previous session...
One site that keeps triggering this is https://militaryland.net/

Running Windows 10. Everything else seems fine. Anyone else dealing with this?

Cheers,

It opens up just fine for me. Honestly, I'd suggest turning off your plugins; they might be what's screwing you over.
How to backup C: drive partitions? in IT Support ·

Look, if you’re trying to recover after a total Windows meltdown—like, you don't want to deal with the nightmare of reinstalling everything from scratch, all your apps and stuff—that's when you go with a system clone or an image.

The "system clone" thing you mentioned? Honestly, that works just as well for me as a "partition backup."
Since restoring a backup brings my Windows back exactly how it was, along with every single program and driver I had installed,
I'm just totally lost on why people make such a big deal about the difference.

A simple partition backup doesn't actually save the MBR/GPT header.🤔

Don't worry, you wouldn't forget me that easily if I were actually the cause of all your traumas. No idea who you've mistaken me for. 🤷

Maybe you just got him mixed up with the boss? 😁

I'm not entirely sure if the boss ever gave Judy a hard time, but I am quite certain that Judah probably slapped the boss right in the groin with a wet towel at least once.

Bring it on, biach!

I suppose Judy is only considered such a big shot because he was one of those rare souls back in the early days of the Forum (around '98 or '99) who would go onto Les's page and just tear things apart, and at first glance, you might not even realize he wasn't being serious.

So, look—this forum really only has two paths left. Either they fall in line with the Soros narrative and keep demonizing Russia, or they just shut down entirely, because let's be real: without Soros's cash, staying afloat as a media outlet is impossible

jbga. That's just how Soros plays the game

Honestly, I feel like Soros isn't even what he used to be anymore. Between the crumbling servers and the even more broken software, he hasn't exactly lived up to his old reputation, I guess. 🤣

Either that, or maybe the boss just pocketed the cash. 😁

Laura Chavez93 said:I see you're new here—it’s clear you haven't quite realized yet that Judy is allowed to do things the rest of us aren't...

Oh, he isn't exactly new; I'd say he's more of an old-timer who just couldn't help being a bit condescending, and then he ended up leaving the Forum feeling insulted because nobody really gave him the time of day.

Now it seems like he’s trying to force his way back into a space where he isn't really wanted, even though Judy was just being polite by saying what everyone else was probably thinking anyway. 😁

I mean, if Judy had actually intended to be insulting, he probably would have called him a fascist or used some much stronger language—maybe three times as much profanity as he did!

Personally, I mostly just lurk in the chat without posting much, so I guess I'm staying pretty neutral and objective on the whole thing. 🤣

Basically, if I leave the laptop sitting idle for maybe twenty minutes or so, and then I try to open up my Facebook News Feed just to check things like the temperature, the whole thing seems to freeze up. It ends up staying stuck right on top of all my other programs, and honestly, the only way I can get around it is by doing a full restart of Windows. Does anyone know what might be causing this?😵

Maybe you could try disabling the Facebook News Feed and then enabling it again? I guess that might reset everything and get it working properly again, at least until it decides to freeze up on you once more.

I have one more question, though it might sound a bit silly.

How can I be certain that using this Hiren bootable tool won't end up infecting my system with a virus?

I mean, how are you even going to pick up a virus if you can't even get into the computer itself? 🤣

Hiren actually runs on its own little operating system when it boots up, so there isn't really any interaction with your main OS at all. You basically just run the specific tools you need through that virtual environment. I'd suggest just grabbing the official version directly from their site.

https://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/

If you're feeling a bit extra cautious, you could always verify the MD5 hash once the download finishes.
Issues with Windows 10 PIN in IT Support ·
I’d suggest downloading the Hiren boot CD, booting up from it, and then you can just grab all the passwords and pins from the account or maybe even just enable the admin account directly. Once you've done that, you can log in as the admin and then go ahead and reset the password and pin on your main account.

It really should only take about three minutes of work.
Formatting and virus removal help? in IT Support ·
Aaron Chavez8 said:Hey there,

If I wipe my hard drive completely before installing a fresh version of Windows, am I 100% guaranteed to kill off every single virus, malware strain, and hidden copy lurking in the system?

Not necessarily, though it's close. I suppose you could still run into viruses that manage to embed themselves directly into the BIOS or the MBR. However, those kinds of threats haven't really been a major thing for at least the last 20 years, and even back when they were more common, they were incredibly rare. So, in most practical cases, I'd say formatting should pretty much solve all your virus concerns!

"The Religion forum clearly exists mostly to serve haters of faith and believers",
and how
"nobody reacts to reports and it's fine to write like this".

Which means that this thread isn't actually
"a perfect example of what the author complained about",

rather, the opening post of this thread
is a perfect example of certain religious users failing to understand why the site Forum.hr is split into thematic subforums... which includes the Religion subforum.

... so wouldn't it be right for the PZ subforum to get its own 'Skeptic' version?

(just kidding—taking the opportunity, though):

Perhaps you don't understand either (much like some believers fail to understand):

the Religion subforum is by no means a RELIGIOUS subforum (though I hope it's clear what I mean by that).

The Religion sub-forum is intended for anyone who has—locally or globally—any contact with various faiths. It’s a space for everyone who deals with
how religion uninvitedly interferes with their quality of life.

On Forum.hr, nobody is more of a "guest" than any other user. Not on a single sub-forum.

Even if we were technically guests in the "house" of Forum.hr, that status would apply to everyone—including the religious users.

Look, either post (not specifically you, but generally) reasonable, intelligent, and civil content,
or stoically just accept (take ownership of it) your own deficiency in education, knowledge, awareness, and basic understanding, all the way up to grasping the very essence of what an internet forum is meant to be..

Well, I guess we pretty much already have one! It's just called the Banned Users Corner 😁

Whoa, easy there! You aren't a moderator on this sub-forum, after all. I suppose if the mods haven't stepped in, there isn't much reason for you to be getting so worked up, right?

Well, Haram has been permanently banned, along with his twenty little clones, I believe. Now, I guess one might wonder, is it actually against the rules to insult users who have already been permanently banned?

William Castillo32 said:Denial. If you had actually bothered to read my previous posts, you would know I am unbaptized, an atheist, an antitheist, and so on... I am certainly not out here promoting the Orthodox Church.

Furthermore, waiting for one specific crime is just as futile as waiting for a specific Hitler crime. As far as anyone knows, the man never personally murdered a Jew.

This idea that everyone was part of the organization, yet everyone remains independent and innocent... heh... you could say the same about the Chetniks; they weren't even an organized army, just guerrillas following their "Pope" Draz. What does that prove?

It is the same excuse used by the Home Guard; they claim they aren't Ustashe, that they are perfectly fine, while the official NDH military fights specifically for that ideology.

Listen, I have lived among Americans for 42 years, born right into it. You know how Dylan said he can smell a Mexican coming from 50 miles away (or maybe it was an Ustashe, I don't recall)... well, I immediately smell it when an American starts trying to hide their own history.

And it isn't just about history. It is the mentality. It's everyday life; the average American lies, hides things, and muddies the truth. I see kids being taught how to be shady from a very young age... it's as if they are raised that way. Everything is kept under wraps.

As for the theft of history, the people within it, and the fabrication of historical facts, I won't go there this time.

That is what I detect instantly. Regardless of whether we agree or not, your posts aren't bad, but I simply cannot deal with the American mentality. I have an allergy to it, for God's sake... if you understand me. I cannot stomach that corruption, the hiding, the shadiness...

bluemason3 said:Would Buddhists or Jainists, as followers of an atheistic religion, be allowed on the PDF, or does this rule only apply to materialists? And what about us metaphysical agnostics who don't fall under materialism?

What about those Levey-style atheistic Satanists? Or religious Satanists? 😁

If the PDF is strictly religious, then you could have just as much conflict between different religious worldviews as you would with materialists. It's not as if all religions share the same metaphysics, nor is it true that there aren't massive differences between Catholics and materialists. Not all theists or all atheists share the same mythology or epistemology.

The logical move would be to have isolated forums for each denomination. Though, even then, you'd just end up with people arguing over, say, traditionalists versus progressives on a Catholic 🤣
Unless everyone gets their own private PDF, we’ll never have peace. 🤣

It makes zero sense.

We see the same thing with moderators—problems that are purely religious in nature, or even spiritual issues driven by people with very specific ideological and social agendas. Paradoxically, the most practical ones are the casual atheists. I highly doubt a Catholic, when trying to act like a modern believer, is worrying about whether a religious Satanist might show up and cause trouble.

In my opinion, the urge to shut things down and administratively control ideas points to a fundamentalist mindset and a desire to force a personal narrative. That's the real issue, not the atheists.

Whether a moderator is being a jerk or just enforcing rules is a separate conversation, but there's really no need to change the core policies of the PDF.

Meh. Nobody is actually moderating the religion discussions. A handful of users (Anthony Perez9, Bryan King3, Carl Hughes) basically just run wild across the site. There isn't any coherent discussion or meaningful exchange of ideas happening. They just troll everything in the 16 section, and honestly, they would get banned from almost any other sub-forum. Yebo, such moderation and Yebo, such communication.
