Alex Long8 said:Man, I actually had their price list sitting right in front of me, but I went ahead and deleted it. Total rookie move. Honestly, just grab the contact email off their website and shoot them a message. When I reached out asking for their pricing, they shot it over to me the very same day. No biggie.
Man, they used to be such a steal. I just heard through the grapevine that some of the products have supposedly hiked up their prices.🤷

You ever tried it?

Does anyone happen to know what this stuff goes for? I can't seem to find a price listed anywhere.

Whey protein is fast-acting stuff. It moves through your system pretty quickly, which basically means if your body doesn't need it right that second, it won't use it—you'll just end up peeing it out. Total waste. You should really only be hitting the whey right AFTER a workout when your muscles are actually screaming for it. I guess you could mix some in with milk in the morning since you haven't eaten for 7 or 8 hours and your body needs a boost then, but yeah, stick to milk if you go that route.

For your regular meals during the day, you want slower-digesting proteins—things like milk, eggs, meat, whatever. Now, if you're dead set on using powder, your best bet is either grabbing Weider 80+ like Alex Long8 suggested, or maybe some Casein (the stuff from Pronutrition is decent), or honestly, just make sure you're eating enough actual protein in every meal throughout the day.

Jonathan Miller7 said:Isolate is just a term for better protein filtration—basically, those isolates have a higher protein percentage. Like, regular whey might be around 80%, while an isolate hits 90% or something. There are probably even more advanced isolation techniques out there now, but honestly, I don't know the technical names off the top of my head.

Aha, okay. So does that mean I could use an isolate as a meal replacement, sort of like a "slow-release" protein option?

Jonathan Miller7 said:Look, I posted a few things earlier about Optimal Results, and honestly, I've never even heard of it. 😁

my bad, sorry 😉
I've heard of it, but just a little bit.
Is their protein isolate basically the same stuff?

Jonathan Miller7 said:Yeah, just your standard "slow-release" protein, not whey. I usually knock it back for breakfast and as my last meal of the day—with some carbs, obviously. And honestly, I don't mind throwing it in after a workout either.

True, but which one though? Like, who’s the manufacturer? That’s what I was actually asking. 😁

Jonathan Miller7 said:If it isn't whey, you can basically chug it all day. I mean, you could do the same with whey, but that’s really not what it’s designed for.

If you're planning on drinking it constantly, just grab some basic protein powder—that's actually what I just did. I bought a big bag because I wanted something to swap out for two meals a day; honestly, I was getting sick to death of eating the exact same damn foods over and over. Every now and then, I'll just shake one up after a workout and call it a day.

I ran the math, and my cost per meal ends up being roughly $3.25 the amount of protein and carbs I'm getting, which is pretty much what I’d be spending anyway on actual food. So, whether I drink a shake or eat a real meal, it's basically a wash.

So, what did you end up getting? Just straight protein without the whey?

A few people told me they're decent, but honestly, everyone’s got an opinion on what works for them.☕

Jonathan Miller7 said:Total fail, hahaha 😁

hahaha, well, what can you do? 🤣

So, I actually just finished off some Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein Gold Standard from MusclePharm the other day, and now I've picked up some Weider Bio Essentials whey protein. Just got it, too. Honestly? The taste is basically identical... maybe a tiny bit different, but who cares, really.
Also, quick question—if you're taking protein after a workout, does that mean you only take it on training days, or is it actually necessary to chug it every single day?

Jonathan Miller7 said:Looks fine to me, just double-check that it isn't soy protein. I haven't heard anything good about soy.😁

It's 80% whey and soy protein, meant for meal replacements or post-workout recovery.
hahahaha total fail on my part, didn't even read the label.😁

Jonathan Miller7 said:Come on, just post the nutritional info for that 3 scoops per 300g ratio.😁

So, I grabbed some stuff from Optimal Results about two days ago. Honestly, never even heard of them before this. 😁
Got a 750g tub for roughly $43 😁

Ingredients:

Per serving (25g scoop)

Fat: 1g
Sodium: 280mg
Potassium: 20mg
Carbs: 1g
Protein: 20g

So, is it actually a big deal if I grab the Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein Gold Standard in a $67 2lb tub versus picking up the bulk stuff from a place like MuscleTech in a 6lb bag for $100... I mean, at the end of the day, isn't protein just protein?

Man, the people I run into... seriously, take those "nutritionists" from Herbalife, for instance. They’re basically walking robots. They just swallow whatever nonsense they read on some glossy flyer and try to push the exact same tired lines to everyone. It’s honestly a joke—they don't have a clue about metabolism, anabolism, or anything else they're rambling about.

Everything you actually need to know about nutrition is right here on this forum. Who needs those "experts"?

Raymond Hughes said:I’ve never touched protein shakes or any other supplements before, so I'm looking for some guidance here.
I'm about 6'1" and roughly 190 lbs. I've been hitting the gym for about a year now, and since the start of this year, I've bumped it up to 4 or 5 times a week. I actually got started after I hit the 220 lb mark on the scale and realized the joke was officially over. 😁

The issue is that I'm absolutely wiped out after my workouts. I tried getting advice from the guys at my local gym, but everyone’s just peddling their own favorite brand. I even asked the trainer there, but he tried to upsell me on ten different things at once, so I pretty much shut that down...

I'm happy enough with my muscle gains—it's not like I'm trying to get huge overnight—but I've still got a little extra fat around my midsection that I'd love to lose. Lately, my weight loss has stalled, and I have a feeling it's because of my diet; I tend to overeat whenever I'm exhausted.

I'm planning on picking up some protein; Dymatize Elite Whey looks like a solid choice, and I actually know someone who can grab it cheap over in Canada.

http://www.dymatize.com/index.php?sr...tegory=Protein

Is that a good call? Should I be taking anything else besides that? And how much of all this stuff am I actually supposed to be using? I also saw something about dextrose—is that worth looking into?

P.S. Since I usually train after work most days, I don't wrap things up until around 8 PM. Is it even worth botherin' with a shake on a Friday if I'm planning on having a few drinks later that evening? 😁

Thanks for the help! 🙂

Look, if you're trying to burn off that stubborn fat around your stomach—those spots that just won't budge—you really just need to crank up the cardio. You could also look into fat burners, too. I've used one myself and honestly, I was pretty stoked with the results. If you need more info, just ask! 👍

Has anyone here actually messed around with those slow-digesting protein blends😁😁 like the ones made from various whey sources—you know, stuff like Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard (egg-based, milk-based, etc.)? 😕
I was thinking about maybe mixing some of that with low-fat cottage cheese right before hitting the sack, just to see if it helps. 😕
😁😁😁
