Did they end up refunding everything? Including the extra shipping costs?
Sophia Walker4 said:I was sending some shoes to a fellow member today, and the clerk at the Post Office gave me a bit of advice. She told me they didn't really qualify as standard boxes. Instead, she suggested using one of those large padded mailers with the measurement markings on them. Apparently, if you classify it that way, it gets treated as a package, which actually ends up being cheaper. The total came out to $14.40.

I don't see why she needs to say anything to you. Just pack everything up in a box at home. You don't have to tell her what's inside; just fill out the paperwork and be done with it. $27Just pay her the $14.40 and call it a day. It’s done.

Don't go showing people exactly what you're sending!

I’m wondering the exact same thing!
To be more specific, does this actually make pages load faster, or is there some other concrete benefit?

Looking forward to a quick reply(😬)
Drew Gonzalez75 said:Won't they be reimbursed for the shipping costs three times over, plus the actual value of the items she listed?

Could someone verify this for me?
I'm talking about the packages where you write down the declared value on the label.
Angela Flores76 said:If it’s been 15 days since she shipped it and there’s still no sign of the package or a return, she needs to take her proof of mailing down to the local USPS office where she sent it from to file a claim. A clerk will help her fill out the paperwork, and that claim gets routed to your local branch to verify if the item actually arrived. If they confirm it's lost, she’ll be entitled to compensation—usually the shipping cost multiplied by five. That reimbursement tends to process pretty quickly.

Beyond that, there isn't much else that can be done. 🤷

Won't she get the shipping costs times three plus the actual value of the items she listed?
I honestly never felt the need to wrap my packages in paper.
by using their higher salary methods😬

You're Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty! You tend to be pretty solitary and can come off as a bit arrogant occasionally. Being left out of the loop really bothers you. Plus, you're the type who holds a grudge for a long time. Huck, I feel like it would take me sixteen years just to move past being snubbed from a single party! You also have a serious temper and won't hesitate to take it out on someone who didn't even do anything wrong.

Same here.

I honestly don't get it. Wouldn't it be much easier for the doctor to just perform the procedure in the office instead of forcing you to go to a major hospital afterward? 🤔

I honestly have no clue. Sorry.

The sizes are standard. Honestly, my brain tells me to just go one size up. I ended up buying two pairs of jeans—I usually wear a 38, but I grabbed a 34 instead.
Linda Williams97 said:The people at my local branch near Times Square are always trying to lecture me. They act like I can't do things one way or another, even though I've sent packages exactly like that several times already. I'm not an idiot; I know how to ship stuff!

But yesterday, when I went to the post office over in Savannah, the woman working there was absolutely wonderful. Everything went perfectly smoothly—exactly how I requested. She even went out of her way to give me some advice. I couldn't be happier! Now I finally understand why my boyfriend goes out of his way to visit that specific location instead of using the closer one.🙂

Kudos to the Savannah post office!

Man, I’d love to go there too, but it’s quite a trek from where I live in the heart of Chicago.
What I mentioned earlier applies to the main branch (I've been to the ones on Broadway twice and had the same experience), whereas the one on Fifth Avenue won't even take small packages from me.
Angela Flores76 said:Yeah, they either pocket the cash themselves or take a cut of the revenue, so they definitely have an incentive to mess with you.🙄

You mentioned earlier that you weren't sure what services are actually offered, but everything is laid out clearly in your first post in this thread. Even if it isn't explicitly listed on their website, you can find all the necessary details easily.

And it's not true that they won't help; you just have to know how to ask the right questions.☕

I feel like I have to chime in here. Honestly, I’ve tried sending things about 15 different times, and every single time I walk in there and politely request to send it as a certified package, every single time they try to screw me over.😳
It’s been everything: "That’s too small" (it wasn't—it was larger than 14x9), "It's too bulky," "It'll get lost," or "Heavy packages like that just get crushed."🙄🙄🙄
Of course, I always manage to get my package sent eventually, but I get a dirty look the second I step foot inside the USPS office.

Yesterday, I went in looking for a large envelope, and the clerk tells me, "No, you can't fit that in an envelope" (even though it fits perfectly fine), "We'll just give you a box instead" (and the smallest box they had was like 10 inches wide).$5.00
I told him, "I'd really prefer the envelope."
We went back and forth, and he tells me, "You can't send items in an envelope as a certified package; it can only be sent as certified mail."😂😂😂
I countered, "Yes, I can. I've sent much smaller items this way many times before."
He replied, "Well, we work here, so we should know."
I said, "But I'm the customer making the decision!"

...In the end, I got my way and sent it how I wanted, but I'm starting to think the business at the post office isn't exactly above board.
My doctor sometimes leaves the date off certain referrals. Does that mean they don't have an expiration date?
Honestly, I just don't get why they constantly try to push everyone into switching over. It's not like they're working on commission, right?
Linda Williams97 said:Girls, if I send something glass in a small bottle using one of those bubble mailers... what's the shipping cost? Does it count as certified mail or something $5.00??? Because one day I packed a 100ml perfume bottle in a box as a package, and the clerk at the USPS told me that it was too small for a package 😕 and had to go as a certified letter . She gave me that large bubble envelope to use for the shipment and charged me quite a bit $7.25 + I had to pay extra for the envelope itself... nothing made sense to me. At the exact same time, I sent a T-shirt and was charged the same amount for the envelope and the shipping $5.00... 🤷

I'm asking because I'm sending a much smaller bottle tomorrow, and I'm worried they'll charge me the same again $7.25. I don't understand the difference when it goes out as a letter... and this was actually easier than other things I've sent, even items over 2kg... yet they still charged me $7.25 🙄

They’ve tried to sell me on that option many times🙄, but I usually insist and they end up sending it as a package
. Once they refused, so I just went to a different post office and they let me send it there
P.S. If they won't listen to you even when you insist, just pack it right there in front of them in a larger box. That's what I do to avoid the hassle—I'd much rather do that than give them an extra couple of bucks!
Donna Martinez95 said:The box goes out as a package. Sending a package under 11 lbs with a value of $33 usually costs about $5.00 bucks and some change.
An envelope is sent via certified mail, which is actually MORE expensive than just sending a package. You can easily check the rates on the USPS website; just weigh your envelopes on a kitchen scale first.

I honestly prefer sending an envelope as a package. I pay $3.25 for delivery within New York City, and $5.00 for shipping across the whole USA.

Sandra Brooks91 said:Drew Gonzalez75 - honestly, I feel like charging for delivery is a total rip-off anyway. But I’d much rather pay $1.75 than waste my time and sanity fighting traffic and hunting for parking near Branimirov. It’s just not convenient for me. What’s even the point of this post if I have to drive all the way to the post office to pick it up? The shipping was already paid for, and my address is right there on the label. The postal service is such a headache.

Yeah, that's true.
Why don't you head over to the post office to pick up your 🤷?
Sandra Brooks91 said:Ugh, I honestly can't deal with this forum anymore. My mail carrier was being difficult again today and ended up refusing to leave my package. Instead, he just took it all the way back to Boise. I'm so over it.

Could that be my package?🤣
Donna Martinez95 said:Actually, they won't have much to say about it. 🙂 You can send things however you want, but honestly, it isn't the safest way to go for a variety of reasons...

I don't know, vividhawk65, are you actually receiving or sending the package?

Why wouldn't it be safe? The worst-case scenario is just some heavy box crushing the envelope, and since nothing in there is fragile, it shouldn't matter, right?🤷
