Am I being too naive? in Psychology ·
I suspect that naivety is a trait reserved exclusively for small children. If being naive means accepting assertions as gospel without a shred of empirical evidence, then we aren't just talking about innocence—we're discussing a profound character flaw and a rather dangerous way to navigate the world.🙂
Memory and Forgetting [Discussion Thread] in Psychology ·
Greetings. I recently picked up that Freud volume regarding psychopathology in everyday life, and I’ve stumbled upon some rather intriguing concepts. I find myself quite energized by the specific theories and rationales he develops within those pages—specifically, his inquiries into why we experience those lapses where we forget names, objects, or even parts of a sentence. I thought I might pose the question to the community to see what your thoughts are on the matter.

I am hoping there might be some specialists here who can offer a more nuanced breakdown of these phenomena. Regarding the mechanics of forgetting, one explanation provided in the text suggests a sort of displacement: in our attempt to suppress one specific thing or desire, we inadvertently lose track of an entirely different element. It’s as if the subconscious, in its eagerness to bury one memory, accidentally sweeps away something else that happens to be linked to it.

That said, even that explanation feels somewhat incomplete to me; it doesn't quite capture the full scope of the logic. Is this truly how it functions, or does modern research suggest a different path? What exactly is it that we are actually forgetting?
How long does the honeymoon phase actually last? in Psychology ·
Two years, six months, fifteen days, eight hours, and thirty seconds.
Though, I suppose time is entirely subjective. If you happen to be a blonde, it feels more like two years, six months, fifteen days, four hours, and fifteen seconds; if you have dark hair, it stretches to two years, six months, ten days, eight hours, and five seconds. But fundamentally, that first measurement remains the most accurate.
Best protein powders for muscle gain? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
As for my own approach, whether I'm looking at protein density or total mass, I typically stick to a single scoop of whey during my post-workout window. I tend to follow the rules with a certain degree of moderation... though, occasionally, I’ll supplement with some casein before heading to bed if there isn't any low-fat cottage cheese on hand.

The sheer amount of ignorance and prejudice being tossed around in this thread is truly staggering..
Agora [2009], Alejandro Amenábar in Movies ·
It’s an excellent film; I actually sat through it twice. A few of my friends claimed they found it "boring," but at the end of the day, art is entirely subjective—it really just depends on what kind of cinema you gravitate toward.
I’d highly recommend it to anyone interested, though if it doesn't resonate with you, that's perfectly fine too.
Limitless (2011) in Movies ·
The plot was genuinely compelling; it’s what drew me in and kept my attention locked throughout, largely because I’ve toyed with similar concepts myself. If you're looking for a recommendation, this might actually be one of the standout gems from 2011, and there are plenty of other titles in this collection to explore as well... =)
