Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, waiting room stories..............................

"My mom gave birth in the most intense way everrrrrrr—she was basically torn apart, it was honestly terrifying. When she told me about it, I genuinely thought I was going to die right then and there, especially since my baby was breech... and honestly, yours might be too." 🙄

"Me doing this, ME DOING THAT, me doing this, ME DOING THAT............................" :ubijsekravodosadnabašmebriga:
It is truly terrifying what kind of country we live in. I’ve had my own share of struggles with Medicare; a clerk failed to process my claim correctly, so I didn't receive my benefits. Then she altered the date, which pushed my entire payment schedule back to next month! I know exactly when I submitted that application, and you can even see on the paperwork that a "1" was added in front of the date, but none of that matters to them.

On another note, what has been really bothering me over the last few weeks is this constant irritability. By nature, I am a very emotional person, but this is extreme. I find myself on the verge of tears almost every time I try to speak. Most of the time, I just feel terrible. The only exception is when I think about my son, whom I will finally get to kiss in five weeks. I am genuinely scared of what comes next for me. Will I ever return to my normal self? I have no one to confide in. Everyone just waves me off or uses that mindless "it'll be fine, it'll pass" cliché.

Back when I was in the early stages of pregnancy and wanted to start shopping for essentials, I let MM and his foolish parents influence me, so I gave up because they insisted it was "too early." It is never too early; there is only such a thing as being too late! Now, I am physically unable to go out, I don't have the time to order things online if they aren't in stock at the store, and trying to buy everything all at once is overwhelming. Especially since his family suddenly seems to have developed amnesia regarding their offer to help split the costs.

I swear, sometimes I feel like a single mother and that my "dear" partner is nothing more than a burden. His parents used to be wonderful. But now that he has supposedly started his "real life," I am finally realizing how foolish and incompetent they actually are—all they know how to do is complain. Complaining is easy, especially when you spend every afternoon napping like a lazy cat under the guise of "resting." If it weren't for my parents, I would lose my mind. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: they show me every single day how much they love me and their grandson. They stay informed, they work on the yard, they look after me; without them, I would be in an asylum. Meanwhile, his people can't even manage to lie around from 2:00 to 5:00 PM like MM's lot does; instead, they actually work themselves to the bone. And then, whenever they actually have something to show for it, people say, "Oh, it's easy for them..." It's quite the opposite! My parents have it much harder, yet they are smarter and more valuable. I just hope my son doesn't turn out like the others, hahahahaha...

Anyway, I will stop now. It feels slightly easier having all of this written down so I can look back on it occasionally. 😬

Just roll your eyes and be like "sure, whatever" and then top it off by saying you're gonna put your kids to sleep with moonshine and poppy seed tea.
That's exactly how our grandmas and great-grandmas used to handle their kids back in the day 🙏

Bravo! I'll definitely be putting this to good use the next time the opportunity arises. 🙏

I once watched a grandmother try to give her three-month-old grandson ice cream, a banana, a Milk Snatch, and even a chunk of meat to suck on...😲😠 😲😠I swear, I nearly lost my mind when I saw that; I just turned around and walked straight out of the room...

I told my mom right away that once we get home, we’re sitting down for a very serious sit-down about how MY baby is going to eat and what they are allowed to drink. And I made it clear she shouldn't even bother coming over unless things with my mother-in-law are perfectly smooth, because honestly, it's better to have her here than dealing with the MIL. I know, I know, I can be a total dragon when it comes to my mom and my in-laws, but I mean it!😍😍

They think it’s all so precious when babies are sucking on potatoes, smearing chocolate everywhere, and devouring mashed bananas—or when they reach that stage where they’re practically weighing a hundred pounds. They see a child trembling with pure joy at the mere sight of chocolate and think it’s just the most wonderful thing in the world. And sure, isn't it just lovely? Isn't it just absolutely beautiful when a little one, not even a year old, starts shaking with excitement the moment they spot some chocolate? 😲 Well, I have to say, I beg to differ!

My mother is absolutely wonderful, but honestly, she always seems to be living in a completely different dimension.

Let’s say... we were given a used crib from one of her friends (🙄 To make things simple, I told everyone that she could have the old bedroom in my husband's place to stay in. That way, when we visit them, the little one will actually have his own corner. Now, the crib needs fixing, there’s no mattress, and suddenly I’m looking at buying bedding and a mattress on top of everything else. So, I tried to politely suggest that she could at least handle setting that up instead of leaving it all to me, and you know what she said? "Oh honey, just let me know if I can swing by and help! You know I'd love to step in so you don't have to do it all..." She went on like that for five minutes straight, but the crib is still sitting there without a mattress, and nothing is getting done.

She makes all these promises, yet delivers absolutely nothing. Honestly, why would I ever set my expectations when I know exactly what her word is worth?

So, you go out and buy two gauze pads from Walmart and then act like they’re pure gold? Now you expect me to get worked up over two pieces of Walmart gauze that—by the way—look used even though they're brand new? 😲

One of these days, she’s going to put her hand on my stomach again and start lecturing my grandson. I am honestly exhausted from constantly having to explain that the baby isn't sitting in my stomach—I can feel him much lower, down on the left side. So there she is, palm pressed against my belly, acting like the Big Bad Wolf from Little Red Riding Hood, telling the baby, "Make sure you say hi to your other grandma... she's going to be the sweet one, while I'll be the one who protects you." She was even implying that my mother won't be the one looking after the little guy, but will always have to step in instead. Honestly, I've had enough.
"Are you prepping your nipples for breastfeeding?"
-"No, I read that it's actually useless nonsense"
"But I was covered in sores! You have to scrub them with a towel!!!"
-"I won't... That isn't recommended anymore. Thanks for the advice, though.."
"Fine, maybe I am old-fashioned, but I'm just trying to help you. Everything has changed lately, but my intentions are good, you know? Don't take this the wrong way, I only want the best for you. Whatever, I just hope you don't end up having bad luck like I did with those wounds... I was just thinking of your own good, okay?"
-"Right, thanks.."
"Am I really that old-fashioned? Honestly, you modern moms have the internet and everything at your fingertips, but you can't believe everything you read. You say you won't give the baby chocolate, but just wait until they ask—you'll see how hard it is to say no then. It's easy for you to talk now, but I'm telling you this for your own sake so you don't make decisions too early. Not everything on the internet is accurate, you know..."
-"Thanks for your opinion, but I'm sticking to my guns: a six-month-old doesn't need bananas or chocolate.."
"BUT I'M TELLING YOU FOR YOUR OWN GOOD.........."

God, these conversations are so exhausting... Am I just being overly sensitive? 🤔
I’m honestly so frustrated with myself. My parents help me out so much—honestly, I don't know if I could even make ends meet in my current situation without them—yet I still find myself snapping at them for absolutely no reason. The second I lose my temper, I suddenly feel like I'm the smartest person in the room and everyone else is just an idiot, so I start lecturing them. Then, once I calm down a day or two later and realize how ridiculous I was being, the guilt hits me hard, usually when it's already too late to take it back. They always just look at me with so much love and tell me they only want what's best for me. I love them so much, which makes it even worse when I act this way. I really hope I can move past this soon. No matter how hard I try, I just can't seem to keep my cool in those moments. Ugh...
Retail workers at baby supply stores... Honestly, my experiences have been so bad lately that I’m considering boycotting every single shop in town. It’s infuriating how they immediately assume you're just looking for the cheapest option on the shelf and treat that as your starting point. If they don't have a specific item in stock, they act like it’s no big deal and just dismiss you entirely. They try to act like experts, yet when you ask a single technical question, they’re completely clueless. One clerk even tried to demonstrate how to fold a stroller, but she struggled so much with it that she could barely get it back together—not that it was actually difficult, just her execution. And don't even get me started on how they push those 3-in-1 strollers on everyone; it’s exhausting.

Then there are certain moms with toddlers who look at me like I'm crazy because I don't want to lug an infant car seat attached to a stroller everywhere, or because I plan on using a bassinet attachment in the middle of summer instead of a car seat that would be easier for vehicle transfers. Look, I’m not driving everywhere every single day, and I’m certainly not walking my baby through a Target parking lot outside of the car, period!

And then there’s that moment when they ask which stroller I like, and once I pick one, I get the inevitable comment: "Oh wow, look at you going straight for the most expensive one!" Why do they even care? I didn't even know the price tag until I saw it, so why should I feel embarrassed just because it costs more than whatever they're eyeing?

The men in my life aren't helping either. Every time I express an opinion, they lose it and blame everything on my hormones. Then, if I end up crying, they use it as "proof" that they were right all along. But they aren't; they're just being stubborn. When I call them out on it, suddenly I'm the "crazy" one acting "hormonal." Fine, maybe I am hormonal right now, but that will pass—they'll still be the same old bores.

Ugh...

Between trying to pick out gear, resisting the urge to buy cute little things I don't actually need so I don't end up with a mountain of unused stuff, waiting for the baby, the slight anxiety about labor, the struggle of getting the baby to sleep in the crib, and worrying about literally everything—it’s all just overwhelming and frustrating at the same time.
My gynecologist completely rattled my nerves today. First, he hands me this fetal movement chart for absolutely no apparent reason, then after the ultrasound, he looks all panicked and tells me my placenta maturity is already at stage I/II. Apparently, that’s way too advanced for being only 29 weeks along, and he's blaming cigarette smoke. I asked him what else could be causing this, since I’m not even exposed to much smoke, and his brilliant response was, "Well, just general bodily condition, you know..." I mean, really? What kind of answer is that? Then I asked if I needed any follow-up testing, and he just brushed me off, saying it should probably be fine and we’ll just see at the next appointment in four weeks. So now I’m left sitting here, spiraling, wondering if my baby is getting enough oxygen and nutrients, if they're moving enough, and if everything is actually okay. My nerves are absolutely shot, and I have no idea how to process this. I even went online to look for answers, but I can't find anything stating that stage I/II is premature for this stage... aaaaaaaaaaa..
The people who announce they’re going to bring something over without ever giving a specific date are honestly the most exhausting. Now, I’m stuck waiting around for my mother-in-law’s godmother to show up just so I can decide if I even like the stroller her daughter was using for her own kid five years ago. 🙄 Honestly, my dad has already picked out the stroller he wants to buy for his grandson, which actually saves me one headache... 😍 He’s completely set on those specific strollers; I wasn't being pushy at all, we just saw them, I mentioned they looked dreamy, he agreed, and now every time he spots them on the street, he gives me this look. 😬

Oh, right! That same godmother is also planning to drop off a crib, which I'll end up cramming into my mother-in-law's apartment—as if the baby is supposed to have a place to sleep whenever they visit. 😬 Meanwhile, my mom has already picked out a crib for her grandchild, and we're heading out to get it very soon. 😍

That way, I get to play the "nice" person while still getting exactly what I want. When I tried to turn everything down initially, nobody would listen to me. Thank God my family is more reasonable, otherwise, I would have completely lost my mind.

And of course, my husband keeps repeating that we have plenty of time. Hello? We have just over two months left, assuming everything goes according to schedule. That isn't much time, period. And imagine if the baby arrives early. Why doesn't anyone consider that? Ugh.

It’s probably best not to listen to them and just do things our own way since we know what's best anyway. We should get everything set up now so we aren't caught unprepared when they start lecturing us once the child is older because we scrambled at the last minute. 😬

I'm at 29 weeks now, and I'm telling him that by late May or early June—when I'll be around 34 or 35 weeks—that's the absolute deadline to get the car seat and the stroller 🙄

And he just goes, "Relax, we've got plenty of time!!!"

No kidding? I am not trying to buy a car seat or a stroller two days before I go into labor, or even worse, having someone else scramble to buy them while I'm stuck in the hospital 😠

And I know my mother-in-law is behind this too. She’s constantly harping on about how you shouldn't buy anything for the baby before they're actually born because it's bad luck 🙄

I'm seriously losing it. I told him straight up we aren't buying anything this month, and probably not next month either since we have to pay our car insurance premium first, so we're waiting until June. Apparently, that's "too early" for him 😲

Is he one of those people who prefers to wait until the last minute and deal with the chaos later, huh? 🙂 And my mother-in-law is the same way, always repeating the same thing; she used to rush out to shop every single morning the moment she felt any pregnancy symptoms. I thought to myself, "Wow, you're a genius..." She was basically implying it's too early for everything I'm talking about. By the way, I'm in my 29th week, and I don't think it's too early for anything. What does "too early" even mean? It's such nonsense! 🙄
Sveky..
"What on earth is my grandson doing????" — honestly, how should I know?
"Let me just feel..." — and then he goes and puts his hand right on my stomach. 🤔 😬
It truly irritates me when people feel entitled to scrutinize my body and comment on whether I’ve gained weight or if my stomach looks larger. They monitor everything I eat, obsessing over whether I had two cookies instead of three, only to pivot into those dreadful, unsolicited stories about some "colleague's sister's friend" who suffered a medical setback. And then, after all that judgment, they have the nerve to ask: "So, when is your due date?" 👎
hahahahahahahaha, let's talk about weight for a second... WATCH THIS!

My partner takes me to the grocery store, and suddenly he remembers at the very last minute that he needs something sweet. He spends the entire trip badgering me, "Come on, you pick something too! Pick one! Which cookies should I get? Do you want this candy bar?" I kept begging him to stop because, honestly, if it were up to me, he could buy every single thing in the aisle and I’d eat it all 🙄 Eventually, I finally settle on just one item. But then, as we're checking out, he stuffs three or four more things onto the conveyor belt. We get home, he heads to the bathroom, and while I'm tidying up the kitchen, I end up snacking on two little candy bars—kind of like Kit-Kats. Later, he walks into the living room, we sit down on the couch, and I casually tell him, "Babe, I ate a chocolate bar... actually, make that two." He just looks at me and goes, "Man, you're seriously going to end up looking like a semi-truck!!!!"

😬
Ladies, please, don't be so intimidated when it comes time to stand up for yourselves! Think of this as practice for the future, for those days when you absolutely have to put someone in their place—maybe because they're being difficult about your child accidentally knocking something over or something similar..

I had an unpleasant encounter at Chase Bank recently when an elderly woman got upset because I wouldn't let her cut in line to withdraw her pension. I simply told her that everyone has their own number, and that after this, I have to get to work, and after work, I have to study for my exams; I don't have the luxury of time that she has, where the highlight of her day is just cooking lunch and watching a pot simmer. She fell silent and waited her turn, though she didn't stop huffing. You know that feeling when someone stands behind you and expresses their discontent through heavy breathing? It’s incredibly distracting, but honestly, I was just glad I stood my ground so her huffing didn't get under my skin as much. 😬 In the past, I never would have been so blunt, but now I've had ENOUGH, and I refuse to bow my head to insensitive people!

When I go to my OB-GYN, the waiting room has a couch that can maybe fit six people if you're really squeezing in. The ultrasound department is on the same floor, so regardless of the doctor, patients for ultrasounds often end up waiting there for days, especially during peak times for pregnant women and emergencies. Then, three obnoxious older women will come in, gossiping about nonsense and sprawling out across the entire couch, while we pregnant women are left standing for 45 minutes waiting for our appointments. Ha! Not on my watch! Last time, I politely informed them that they needed to squeeze together, because there was clearly enough room for at least two more pregnant women on that couch!

We just need to realize that standing our ground is for our own sake and for the well-being of our babies. As for those selfish types who act shocked when you won't jump through hoops for them—the kind of people we constantly run into—we can only feel pity for them. They lack empathy and, with age, they seem to have lost all sense of perspective on life, which they probably never truly had to begin with. And no, we don't care how many groceries they hauled or how many cabinets they moved while they were pregnant! Nor do we care if they expect us to spring to their aid the moment we see them at a bus stop! That kind of kindness is a choice, and frankly, most people don't show us that same courtesy! Shout out to the exceptions, though!

I could go on about the fools waiting in line at big shopping malls, but I won't. It drives me crazy when, for example, there's one lane marked specifically for pregnant women and people with disabilities, the store is packed, and out of all the registers, THAT specific one is the only one out of order! For real, it's infuriating!
LOL, I couldn't help but laugh at this—it’s like you suddenly become a public figure or something the second you find out you're pregnant! 😂

Regarding diet and meat, everyone chooses their own path these days; personally, I've always enjoyed meat (in moderation), especially when paired with some veggies. But during this pregnancy, neither meat nor fish sounds good to me. Everything smells off, and my stomach just won't settle after eating it. The only way I can manage is if I completely camouflage it in a dish so I don't even realize I'm eating it. And now for the part that's actually relevant to the topic... since my family knows about the pregnancy, they won't stop lecturing me. It's always, "YOU HAVE TO EAT FISH, AT LEAST!" For the 500th time, I try to explain that I'm simply eating and drinking what my body can actually handle; if my system rejects it, I'm not forcing it down until I actually start craving it. They just can't seem to wrap their heads around that...
There are plenty of other forums out there where we can dig up information. It’s a shame, really, because this thread was so wonderful, and I was genuinely looking forward to having everything gathered in one convenient spot.

On another note... my future mother-in-law really got under my skin the other day. We were chatting, and I brought up the specific diapers I plan to use and why they're better, or mentioned that we probably won't buy a stroller but will likely get one gifted, and so on. And her response? "You know, back in our day, things were done differently. ( 🙄 ) I bought everything I needed on the very day I went into labor! ( 🙄 ) We didn't spend all this time prepping months in advance like parents do today. ( 🙄 )" Basically, she just scoffed at me with this smug little grin. I told her straight up that I have zero intention of wandering through stores in the middle of June or July hunting for car seats and trying to grab everything at the very last minute. Honestly, I haven't even bought a rattle yet, let alone anything else, but she acted like I already have a fully furnished nursery ready to go! In her era, they used rags instead of diapers and an ultrasound was considered some kind of miracle—what does any of that have to do with me?!?!?!?!?! Ugh. Thank goodness my own mom is a completely different story; she's actually excited about every new update and can't wait for the next ultrasound just to see if we're having a boy or a girl so she can pick out the first pair of pants or a little dress. 😍
My dad is constantly lecturing me about my portions. My mom is doing the exact same thing. Honestly, it’s getting so repetitive that I can practically predict it the second they open their mouths. Then, my husband comes home around 10 p.m. and hands me a slice of cake 😬 And I’m just like, "Oh, you don't want me eating this!" But then the guilt hits me hard. Every single bite feels like a chore because I start questioning if I should even be having it. What’s most frustrating is that I’m eating normally, so I don't get what all the fuss is about. I mean, for heaven's sake, I'm pregnant—it's impossible not to put on a few pounds! I know they mean well, but in those moments when they harp on me, I feel like an elephant. Then I'll open my closet, catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror, and just burst into tears. They keep telling me how difficult labor is for larger women, or how hard it will be to lose the weight later—all the stuff I already know, which is exactly why I'm supposed to WATCH what and how much I eat.. Ugh 😢

Most people know by now that I'm expecting. And they won't stop staring at my belly, judging me. It's like they're constantly measuring me with their eyes. No matter who I'm talking to or what the topic is, their gaze just drifts to my stomach like I'm under a microscope. I find myself wondering, "Did I really get too big? Is that why everyone is commenting on it?" 😬 I'm becoming obsessed. I honestly can't wait until I've fully rounded out so I can just shove it right in their faces and let them stare all they want.

Last night, my husband told me he was going to kill himself! 😬 He said it in such a sweet, gentle tone that we actually ended up laughing.. 😬 He said that after I had spent half an hour venting, screaming, crying, throwing things, and nearly breaking everything in the dishwasher. Once I finally curled up and sat down next to him, he whispered it while holding me. So romantic 😍

It’s actually quite comforting to see that I'm not the only one dealing with mood swings. Then my friend tells me... "Just wait until the baby is born, that's when the real storm hits!!!!" 😂 😬
I actually don't mind when they rub my belly; honestly, it feels quite lovely 🙂 It’s just a gentle touch to greet the baby, nothing more 🙂 But then again, that’s just how I am—I’m a very tactile person. I love physical affection and having people show they care through gestures like this. Strangers certainly don't do it, though.

Ugh, the person who really gets on my nerves is... ME! I just can't seem to control myself sometimes. I'll fly off the handle, rant for half an hour straight, and say all sorts of things, only to be eaten alive by guilt once I calm down. It’s like I’m possessed! And don't even get me started on my skin; it's a total disaster. Sometimes I feel like just throwing a trash bag over my head, though that probably wouldn't help much since I hate the rest of my body too—nothing fits right anymore. I'm constantly cycling through the same two pairs of maternity jeans. Everything I put on looks terrible, even the oversized stuff that used to look great on me. It's no wonder nobody realizes I'm pregnant; everyone just thinks I've put on a little weight. I've never really dealt with these kinds of depressive moods before. Well, okay, I'm lying—I have, but rarely. Now? It feels like it's happening every other day. Even when I am truly TRYING my best to stay positive... Ugh!
And just when you’ve nearly finished everything, he comes flying in like he just landed from Mars and asks, "Hey, maybe I could lend a hand with something?" 😂
Hahahaha, before pregnancy, they just claim we’re being moody because of PMS, and now it’s because of the pregnancy—but nope, it’s never actually about anything they said or did! 😂
I honestly don't think there's any point in trying to explain your coping mechanisms to anyone right now; you're currently pregnant 🙂. Looking at my own behavior, I'm usually someone who stays pretty level-headed and doesn't get worked up easily, but lately... I'll find myself getting incredibly agitated over the smallest, most trivial things. I'll snap for about five minutes straight, fall silent for a minute, and then end up in tears. It’s an overwhelming feeling, and it feels almost impossible to control. I used to think PMS was bad, but these pregnancy mood swings are on a whole different level, and I really don't know how to manage them—though all my girlfriends tell me they went through the exact same thing. It isn't surprising that we end up bickering with our partners more during this stage; the key is just for him to realize we're under the influence of hormones and that, most of the time, the situation isn't nearly as serious as our minds are making it out to be.
