When she finally touched down, I asked how it went. She just talked about the restaurants, the cocktails, lounging by the pool—she said the highlight was definitely the little pigs they roast on a spit. Apparently, it’s incredible.

That was basically her entire summary of a two-week trek to a Caribbean paradise. Honestly, most people come back with those exact same impressions, whether they're staying at an all-inclusive chain in Turkey, Tunis, Morocco, or somewhere similar.

As for me, I spent a single day on Long Island this year. I could go on for two hours about our experience, though I suspect Long Island isn't exactly the crown jewel of what America has to offer. (Sure, prices are a bit steeper than in Washington, D.C., but paying $5.75 cappuccino
didn't bother me one bit.

And she didn't mention anything about how she felt being there with all the Black guys, since her friends told her there are tons of them over there, just hanging out waiting for white whores and acting like they're gifted or whatever.

Maybe that’s what she was getting at when he was describing that pork on a... uh... well, you know.

The US just doesn't have any sense of style. Maybe around Maui it’s somewhat okay, but everywhere else? Nothing. Zero taste.

And man, imagine when the 10-to-20-year-olds take over?
Or even the 1-to-10 crowd??

And don't even get me started on the ones still in the womb... uuuuuuuuuu
They must have been raised that way here in America, I guess.

Anyway, most likely, the biggest shot for these 20-somethings is just becoming a "NEAT" generation—and maybe a tiny slice of them actually work in those 'leading industries' that the older folks probably didn't even build, but have just been sitting there since Adam and Eve
So, just wanted to brag a little—I recently had a successful (well, so far!) surgery to fix my deviated septum...

I didn't get it done here in the States, so I’m honestly a bit surprised when you guys describe having those nasal tampons shoved in there—I actually ended up with two balloons placed after the procedure instead of the usual packing.
The very next day, they just deflated the balloons and slid them out pretty easily. After that, I just had some plastic molding left inside, which they took out two weeks later (though, surprisingly, I could breathe the whole damn time).

For now, it feels like recovery is going to be smooth sailing, assuming I don't do anything stupid like sneeze or blow my nose too hard.

So, which software would you guys recommend for keeping my personal finances in check?

I’m looking for something that actually keeps a history of everything—you know, things like expense grouping, cool graphs, and all that stuff...
Also, I was wondering if there's a similar app available for the iPhone or maybe an Apple device

awesome, thanks! 🙂

so, what's the verdict on those monitors I mentioned in my first post?

So, I’ve got this ATI Radeon Sapphire sitting around—though I could probably track down a different one if needed—and I’d be willing to drop up to $667
on it.

So, what's the deal with that one?

Which one do you think actually beats those other two?

So, I'm looking to pick up a 23 or 24" monitor, and honestly, I really don't want to end up with some piece of junk.
What's the actual deal with the difference between LCD and LED monitors? Like, is there a real gap here?

Also, what do you guys think about this one:
HP 23'' LED Monitor x23LED WS233AA, 5ms, 250cd/m2, 1000000:1, D-SUB, DVI, widescreen, black

And another thing—why does the contrast ratio seem to change depending on where you look? For example:
On this site...
http://www.amazon.com/samsung-f2380-lcd-23/dp/B00X

It says:
"Contrast ratio (typical): 1000:1, DCR: 12,000:1 "

What's the catch there? I definitely don't want to be stuck with a monitor that only has a 1000:1 contrast ratio.
You don't just ignore it, you know? That night when the earthquake hit Mexico, I could actually feel the ground shaking—kind of like that tremor we had back here a couple of months ago.
I'm asking because my liver was acting up back then—it was actually enlarged or whatever—so I ended up stuck on one of those strict liver diets
Nathan White35 said:About 15 years ago, I dealt with some Hepatitis B stuff—well, honestly, nobody ever actually told me if I officially had it or if I just happened to be exposed to the virus.
I was stuck on a strict liver diet for six months, and my markers for anti-HBc and HBe came back positive once, while my triglycerides were through the roof (though my ALT and AST levels were totally fine).
So, did I actually have hepatitis or what?

Since then, I’ve been getting my liver labs checked regularly and they look okay, but... I still get this dull, nagging ache right where my liver is. Why would that be?
Just to be clear, I don't touch fatty foods, and I don't have any gallbladder issues or anything like that.
Also, could the kidney problems I've been dealing with over the last couple of years have been caused by hepatitis? (Hashimoto)

Is anyone gonna weigh in on this? 🙂

Look, this is just pure ego right here—you just can't admit to yourself that you're hitting a wall, or that there's actually something at stake that you might lose.

So, is giving up the easiest path? Yeah, sure is... but hey, that's just how he—your guy—operates, I guess. From what I can tell, he's been playing it that way for three years now.

Kenneth Brooks9 said:It’s not some "syndrome." When you actually, genuinely love someone, this stuff just happens—it's automatic. Thank God most of you have never been stuck in the exact situation I’m in right now, because, honestly? I wouldn't wish it on anyone... It's painful, it's exhausting, and I don't *want* to be doing this, but my heart—and whatever shred of humanity I have left—keeps pulling me toward helping this guy. I just have this feeling he can pull through... Whatever happens, this is his absolute last shot. I really hope he takes it and makes the most of it, because, man, I am falling apart inside here...
If we blow it this time, I'll know I did everything humanly possible....

Yeah, that's classic Savior Complex right there.

@tatinaprinceza:

Honestly, even just your handle gives you away—if you ask me, anyway:
- I’m guessing your folks really went all out for you growing up, you know? Like, they poured everything into your schooling and made sure you had the best childhood possible, both emotionally and, well, financially.
- But here’s the thing—they probably did you a massive disservice by shielding you from the real world. They kept you safe from every little hardship or rough patch, which I think is why you get so tripped up by stuff that seems obvious to everyone else. It’s probably why those chaotic, unstable guys catch your eye too (and yeah, age plays a part, I guess)—you basically grew up in a bubble. Sure, it’s secure, but man, it gets boring after a while.

Because of that whole setup, you just don't get how some people's heads actually work. You can't wrap your mind around the idea that someone could look you straight in the eye, lie to your face, and then just reach into your wallet and snatch $67 right out of it while swearing they love you. To you, that kind of darkness is just some foreign concept you're only starting to stumble upon...
