Open letter to the moderators in Feedback & Suggestions ·
To the moderation team,

Prompted by a private message I received from moderator silvercyclist32,

as someone who has been a participant here for years—sometimes active, sometimes not—I want to draw your attention to certain irritating behaviors and the urgent need to re-evaluate the standards held by some of you...

Moderator silvercyclist32 sent me a PM where:

1. The message itself was written in a foreign language.

2. I am being accused of trolling. I would appreciate a translation of that accusation.

3. The content I am supposedly being judged for is a post in the social science
section regarding the topic: "The world's lingua franca."
I suppose I am "trolling"
simply because, to me, the American language is the most beautiful. It certainly isn't "trolling" for someone to express disgust toward it.

4. My text was a response to a post where one user—an icon of confusion
and someone who clearly finds my views repulsive—mocked my expression
of why I believe the American language is the best
in the world. Is such an opinion even allowed on this topic or on this forum?

I am asking you to stop punishing, deleting, or otherwise harassing
anything you fail to understand or anything that individuals who lack the capacity
to grasp it choose to target.

I have noticed that excessive penalties are handed out whenever something
doesn't suit someone's personal preferences, which usually stems from their own limited
knowledge. They use the almighty term "trolling" or, when deleting, "off-topic," as if it were the word "Amen" at the
end of a prayer. Something that very few people actually understand the meaning of (if they do at all),
but frankly, who cares.

Finally, I request that you create information pages and ensure that messages sent
to forum members are written in our official language.
Our official language is American.

I only went through with it this time—with certain caveats—strictly because I didn't want all that effort to go to waste.

However, if a user starts posting Offtopic content in a thread, my only option is to delete the whole thing if there isn't a dedicated thread for it. That was the only real dilemma here. 🙂

P.S. I also wanted to ask you to be more mindful of staying on topic moving forward, especially since we've already had to deal with private messages regarding this issue before. 🙂

Fine.

I appreciate that you respect the principles of "civil discourse" and aren't reacting out of sheer vanity. 👍 My own reaction was quite sharp. Or perhaps "blunt" is a better word.

One more thing: I believe my response—which is simply a matter of basic common sense—should have actually come from a moderator. This is a textbook empty phrase born from consumerist market trends; it's nothing more than a nicely packaged 🤮

🙏

Lisa Cox4 said:Seven posts were moved to the Chat topic (honestly, I didn't know where else to put them since they have nothing to do with astrology and are nowhere near this subject matter).

If you were going to move them, you should have done it in a sequence that actually forms a coherent thought. What you did was essentially trying to label a trash can instead of just putting the posts in it.

It is high time people on this subforum understood astrology better and stopped labeling every single post as Offtopic just because the author forgot to tag an aspect or a planet.

Regarding the discussion you pulled; an astrologer needs to understand the definitions of the terms they use. They must be as clear to them as the line between light and shadow is on a bright summer day.

And if your intention was to protect someone's reputation, let me remind you that as a moderator for astrology, your primary duty is to protect the dignity of ASTROLOGY itself.

A real moderator would have stepped into the discussion to moderate the dialogue or redirect it if necessary, rather than acting like a police officer...

Here is my own label for staying on-topic!
Uranus left Aries and returned to your sun sign about a month ago. It serves as a reminder that while it was in Aries, it looked around and peered ahead. It was in a cardinal sign. It saw the heart of the future and is telling you that you need to make some revolutionary changes.

🙏

P.S. I accepted Ryan Wilson2's remark about moving the post to this subforum, but I still believe this is something you—and everyone else here—need to deal with seriously.
Astrology is much more than just nomenclature and a 360° circle...
Are schools killing critical thinking? in Philosophy ·
Richard Allen said:In my view, they are one and the same.
I remember a gym teacher back in elementary school. That guy NEVER actually showed up for class. Instead, he would just sit in his office ordering fast food and surfing the web on the school's dime (a total flat rate). He only bothered to show up during the final hour when it was time to turn in grades. His daughter worked at the school too, and she ended up covering all the classes he was supposed to be teaching. But the most tragic part was this: when the students took an anonymous survey, he was voted the best teacher in the entire school. Meanwhile, the absolute worst teacher—who truly was incompetent because he didn't do his job and was even worse because he didn't care about doing it right—had a nervous breakdown shortly after and went on indefinite medical leave. That was four years ago, and I heard he just recently retired.
Then you have incredible teachers who will show up on a Saturday just to put in extra hours for those $1333 credits.
On the flip side, you have teachers who, the moment their salary gets cut by 5%, decide to shave five minutes off every single class period. 😂 😂 😂 (Not that I'm complaining xD)
Believe me, people like that exist. They taught me, and some of them are still teaching today. 😁

This is a perfect example proving that teaching is actually a calling driven by internal passion and innate talent. In our language, what we mostly call a profession today used to actually be titled as such.
Just look at how this profession embarrasses itself on game shows in front of millions of viewers; in last week's quiz, a millionaire contestant couldn't even identify Ivan Gundulić, and unfortunately, there are far too many examples like that.
