So, I just got stuck with this massive document where I’ve gotta fix up all the math formulas. It’s not even about changing the actual math or fixing errors; it’s just that the formulas are currently sitting there as images, and I need to convert them into actual equations so the fonts and symbols actually look right. I spent way too much time manually rebuilding about six pages before I finally lost my mind—if I keep going at this pace, I'll be stuck here for a month.

Since the formulas are identical to what's already there—meaning I'm not actually changing any values—is there any way to just select all the formulas in the doc and batch-convert them into the equation editor? That way they’d actually get that proper look. I tried doing it myself, but the font stays exactly the same; it doesn't get those clean, professional-looking characters you get when you go through Insert --> Equation.

I know I'm being a total idiot with how I'm explaining this... honestly, I don't know any other way to put it. 🙄

Can you put mine in Cain 🙂 add an "and" in the middle, and drop the "a" at the end 😁

No. Nick isn't recognizable anymore.

Zachary Cook2 said:Controlled madness isn't actually playing the idiot—it's just masking who you really are. It’s a defense mechanism because, honestly, what would happen if you actually opened up to people and started talking about all this stuff we discuss here? They wouldn't get it.

With controlled madness, you aren't being fake; you're just performing the role everyone expects you to play.

😉

Isn't that just a form of hypocrisy?

Why not just be yourself? Just be who you are.

Is that really the right way to live? Isn't it more valuable to open someone's eyes than to keep it all to yourself, even if it means being laughed at? In the end, if you have inner peace, their mockery shouldn't matter much. I try to talk about these things in modern society, even if people don't understand me or don't want to listen. I don't care if they laugh. Honestly, I feel better when they try to look down on me...

This thread is a goldmine of insight, thanks 🙏

I consider myself a pretty level-headed person. People might call me phlegmatic, though I wouldn't use that term. I don't know if this aligns with what you all are discussing, but it takes almost nothing to rattle me. People say I just don't seem to care. I wasn't always like this; for about a year now, I've been trying to quiet something inside me so I don't react to people's nonsense. I simply feel better when I don't respond to an attack—and honestly, there’s rarely enough substance in those attacks to trigger anything in me anyway. A lot of people have noticed this. Those who try to provoke me often end up even more irrational because they don't get the reaction they expected. But that expectation is perhaps the most foolish thing of all; people constantly disappoint themselves by clinging to illusions. Back in high school, I'd come home for lunch and my parents would ask how school was. Most of the time, my answer was "nothing," and the conversation ended there. It wasn't that we had a bad relationship, I just didn't want to waste breath on questions that felt meaningless. Giving an extensive answer felt like I was being asked to run a marathon 62 miles. Is this a redistribution of energy?

Someone mentioned feeling the superficiality of human existence through this sort of detachment, or what I'd call energy conservation. I wonder if, as someone who lives without much worry, I am actually interesting to others. I don't care much for public opinion, but I do care about those close to me. Is it selfish to hold back, or can energy be distributed there too? Just analyzing myself 🙂

There are things I want to work on. First, my vanity and the tendency to perform. I'm no actor, but sometimes I'll do something and then glance sideways just to watch the other person's reaction. I don't want to be that person. It's that foolish "second mind" that needs to be discarded, though I haven't figured out how yet. Clearly, I still have much to learn...

I also struggle with anticipating others. When someone is nervous or agitated, I find myself checking to see if they are satisfied. If they aren't, I'm not happy either. If they are, I feel better. Why do I do that? I don't understand...

I'm curious about how people utilize their energy—meaning, how they avoid wasting it on things that don't matter. I don't think I waste mine, yet I often feel like I'm running on empty. How can I test this? Through some kind of creative outlet?

Can this energy be stimulated through diet, or is it strictly through physical movement?

I'm interested in why people speak of multiple worlds. When talking about perceiving or entering a new sphere, why call it a different world instead of just the same one? Is it just colorful language? Someone suggested two distinct places within the same world; would that be more accurate?

Does everyone possess the same energetic capacity?

A few too many questions, perhaps, but I hope to find answers. (In hope lies salvation, not in expectation 😁)
Charles Richardson50 said:I’ve finally embraced this state of complete neutrality—no reactions, no expectations, no highs, no lows, and certainly no fear. I don't expect anything from life because, frankly, it’s all just fleeting; the time we’re granted is such a
tiny blip in the vastness of the universe that it’s hardly worth making a fuss about.
Don't mistake me for being a pessimist or someone struggling with depression; it’s more of a simple realization. This brief existence we have is a gift, really, and it should be lived through without the weight of massive expectations—much like how a butterfly lives out its few days and then simply vanishes. Our fate is already written, and since we are essentially condemned to pass through this world, we might as well accept that reality without letting emotions get in the way.

That mindset might work if life were as short as a butterfly's, but what about living 60 or 70 years like that? 🤦

I was once forced to numb my emotions just to survive professionally. I spent nearly a year working like a machine, completely cold, because it was the only way to succeed in my career. It bled into my personal life, too. I went from an enthusiastic young man to someone totally phlegmatic. After a year of that, I couldn't take it anymore. I didn't like the people around me, and I certainly didn't like myself for becoming so detached. Now, I'm reclaiming my enthusiasm for life and everything else... feeling alive is much more fulfilling than being empty.

Hey there. I'm checking in at 230 lbs. Started a new diet and workout routine just a week ago. I'm driven by a deep desire to get back to how I used to be... I won't stop until the weight is gone.
