Well, I went all the way through the records, but I can't find any of those losing streaks anywhere... just these most recent ones right after my last deposit. Man, I was really planning on putting together some solid statistics, but now I'm stuck without them...
I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction regarding how to set up a C programming environment on Windows 7... up until now, I've mostly been doing all my coding inside a Linux virtual machine, which worked fine, but I'm looking to switch things up. I actually went ahead and installed Geany on my Windows machine, but I've hit a bit of a snag because it won't compile anything since I don't have GCC installed, so I'm curious about what kind of software I should be using instead... If it’s at all possible, I’d really prefer something a bit more "lightweight," because I'm not exactly looking to bloat my computer with several unnecessary gigabytes of software I might not even use...
So, back when I first deposited some cash, I played for a little while before eventually losing everything... then I took a break for a few months and decided to top up my account again recently. But when I log in and head over to my betting history, all I see is a list of my winning tickets, which is interesting, but I can't seem to find the rest... I'm actually wondering where all my losing slips went because I really wanted to go back and look at them... did the server just wipe them out after a certain amount of time passed, or are they just tucked away somewhere in a menu I haven't found yet?

I don't really know... honestly, that file is password-protected, and when I go to double-click it, an Excel window pops up, but the whole background just turns this solid blue, and for some reason, that little little prompt where you're supposed to type in the password to actually open the file just doesn't show up at all...
So, I've currently got Microsoft Office 2007 running on my computer, but I just received this one file that was put together using Excel 2010... and I was just wondering if there's a way to actually open it, though honestly, I really just need to be able to take a quick look at the data, since I don't have any intention of changing anything...

Maybe you could try using a function instead... it might make things a bit smoother... I’ve been spending quite a bit of time lately just staring at my screen, trying to wrap my head around how certain functions behave when you really start pushing them... there’s this one specifically, SUMPRODUCT, that always feels like it has more layers than people realize at first glance... most folks think it’s just a quick way to multiply arrays and then add them up, which isn't wrong, I suppose, but once you start getting into those complex conditional logic scenarios, it turns into something else entirely... it’s almost like a Swiss Army knife that you didn't realize was actually a full workshop... anyway, I was thinking about how much cleaner things look when you stop relying on massive chains of nested IF statements and just let the math do the heavy lifting for you... it’s a bit of a rabbit hole, honestly, but a very rewarding one if you have the patience to sit with it... Here is the code:
So, I was sitting there staring at my screen this morning, just nursing a lukewarm coffee and thinking about how we often try to make things more complicated than they actually need to be when we're working away in Excel... you know that feeling? Anyway, I came across this little formula snippet today, `=SUMPRODUCT(1*(A1:A10>B1:B10))`, and it really got me thinking about those clever little logical shortcuts we use to bypass the usual grind... it’s essentially a way to count how many times the values in one range exceed the values in another, using that SUMPRODUCT trick to turn those True/False results into ones and zeros so they can actually be tallied up... it's quite an elegant little workaround for anyone trying to run quick comparisons without jumping through all the hoops of a complex array formula or setting up extra helper columns... just a quiet, efficient way to get the answer you need while you're deep in the zone...
Ah, yeah... that's exactly what I was looking for... 🙏Thanks so much, you really are a lifesaver... 👍
frozenheron7 It seems like you might have missed pasting the actual content you wanted me to rewrite... I was sitting here ready to dive in and get to work, but there isn't any text for me to transform yet... If you drop the original message in, I'll get started on turning it into something fresh and uniquely American for you... just let me know whenever you're ready... I was just thinking about a bit of a workaround here, though I'll probably need to sit down and really dig into how to structure that logic using a COUNTIF function...
To get things moving, you'll want to start by dropping this formula right into cell C1... So, I was sitting there staring at my screen this morning, just thinking about how much simpler life would be if we didn't have to deal with all these complex formulas when a basic logical check would do... you know? I was looking at a spreadsheet where I needed to compare two values, specifically checking if the value in cell A1 is greater than whatever is sitting in B1, and if that condition is met, I just wanted it to spit out a "1"... otherwise, I wanted it to stay completely blank so the sheet looks clean and doesn't get cluttered with zeros everywhere... it’s funny how those little things can make such a huge difference in how readable a report feels... anyway, the formula you're looking for is just `=IF(A1>B1,1,"")`... it’s one of those small, elegant little tricks that keeps everything tidy... turns out, sometimes less really is more... And then you just drag that down across all ten rows...
So, if you're looking to set this up, the function will basically just go through and drop a number 1 into column C whenever that specific situation pops up where a happens to be greater than b... it's a pretty straightforward way to track those instances as they occur... And then, once you've got everything else sorted out, you just want to wrap things up by totaling everything sitting there in column C... If you're just looking to add up a quick column of numbers without making things complicated, you can always just use the standard formula... something like =SUM(C1:C10)... which works perfectly fine for most everyday tasks around the office... though I suppose if you're dealing with massive datasets or anything more complex than a basic grocery list, there might be a few different ways to approach it depending on how much manual labor you want to put in... but for now, that should get the job done quite nicely...
Yeah, I hear you, that part is actually pretty straightforward, but my real question was more about how to get that total calculated without having to stretch out column "C" or mess with the layout at all... I just want the sum to show up in one single cell and nothing else...
I’m running into a bit of a snag in Excel... so, let's say I have a column from A1 to A10 where I'm just plugging in some natural numbers, and then I've got another column from B1 to B10 filled with different natural numbers... now, what I’m really trying to do is get cell C1 to show me the total count of how many times the value in column A actually exceeds the value in column B... basically, I want the spreadsheet to look at A1 against B1, then A2 against B2, all the way down to A10 against B10, and every single time that number in column A happens to be larger than its counterpart in column B, I want cell C1 to increment by +1... would anyone be kind enough to write me a little function that handles this specific scenario? Once I have that working, I should be able to tweak it quite easily to fit whatever my actual project requires ...
Nicholas King said:Well, you definitely need it if you want to, though honestly, you don't really have to... there are plenty of things you can get done just fine using the free LibreOffice...
From what I understand, there isn't any kind of restriction on usage once that initial 30-day trial period wraps up...
but then I guess I'm wondering why I was able to use Office 2003 and 2007 for free on my old desktop without any issues, yet now with this 2010 version, I'm being told I actually have to buy it... I mean, I picked up this new computer just a few months back, and it's only really recently that this message started popping up on my screen...
I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out what on earth is going on with Microsoft Office... I mean, am I actually supposed to go out and buy a full license, or is this some kind of prompt to "upgrade" from an older version, or maybe something else entirely? This is honestly the first time I've ever run into a message like this...
Also, does anyone know if I can still actually use Microsoft Office once all those trial days run out? (I know you can technically keep using WinZip forever, even though it keeps throwing those similar little warnings at you)...

I’ve been having the exact same issues since this morning, where everything just feels stuck, and no matter where I click, I have to sit there for at least thirty seconds waiting for a page to respond before the connection drops entirely, forcing me to refresh and start the whole waiting game all over again...
I’m starting to think it’s definitely not anything the users are doing wrong, but rather some backend mess happening on the site itself...
Yeah, it says right here that we should reach out to the moderators of those specific subreddits. Right now, I actually have three different threads sitting right here in the help section, so I’m reaching out to you all in hopes that you might be able to clear them out for me...
I was wondering if anyone could help me out by deleting some of the threads I've started... honestly, I’d love to just have those posts wiped if they haven't hit at least 1,000 views yet, because looking back, it feels like I've been starting a new discussion for every little random thought that pops into my head... I noticed you guys have already taken care of things like this before so I figured I'd just ask if you could possibly clear out my old topics too...
I was wondering if there's actually an alarm clock app built right into Windows 7... basically just something where I can set a specific time and have it start ringing when the moment hits?

I run into that exact same thing every now and then, though if I just log in a second time, it usually sticks and works perfectly fine, but I really don't want to use the "remember me" feature because I'm sharing this computer with others and I'd rather not have my username sitting there for anyone else to see...
I actually had another question on my mind too:
Sometimes, if I spend a good chunk of time typing out a response to a thread—say, if I'm working on a post for ten minutes or longer—and then I finally click "submit reply," I get hit with a notification saying I need to log in again, and it’s only after I re-authenticate that my post actually goes through, which happens whether I'm using the full quote/reply editor or just the quick reply box at the bottom... so I was just wondering if anyone knows why that keeps happening...

And that’s just how our moderator hollowtrucker77 operates, honestly, if you look at the official PDF for Reddit!, they actually used an English idiom instead of just answering several of the questions that were asked...
