I was just over on the USA Today Facebook page commenting on that article about some sociopathic girl throwing puppies into the water. Absolutely twisted.
Some guy says:
Honestly, isn't it even worse when you look at what Ivo Sanders actually did to this country?
I mean, seriously, man... where the hell did you even fall from?
So, what now? Are we really going to claim one crime justifies the next?
I don't get it.
I mean, let's be real—wasn't running a concentration camp an absolutely disgusting crime?
Yep.
And that’s exactly how we end up tolerating "lesser evils," like people dumping puppies into the river.
Man, what a mess.
The sheer stupidity of some people's arguments is actually terrifying.
Every debate has its place. That’s just how it is.
If you want to argue about Ivo Sanders or WWII, go find the right thread and post it there.
Don't just jump into threads for the sake of trolling, only to end up looking like this:
Why are you guys getting so worked up? There are plenty of things out there that are way worse than this.
Of course there are worse things out there. Honestly, I’m disgusted by both. What’s the issue? Why shouldn't I be just as revolted by one as I am by the other?
Yeah, no kidding. Every single debate just ends up being about Nazis, Communists, or whatever extremist group people want to scream about.

For me, it isn't about trying to justify one injustice a by pointing to another—it's more about trying to shine a light on much bigger issues and systemic injustices. My goal isn't to downplay injustice a at all; I just want to get people thinking about injustice b, which is honestly way worse.
Take this latest headline—puppies being dumped in a river. It's absolutely horrific on its own, sure, but it still doesn't compare to things like waterboarding and that kind of stuff. The logic behind what you said basically boils down to: "as long as we're treating humans like garbage, we don't need to feel bad about treating animals like garbage too." Personally? I think that as a civilization, we have some serious work to do regarding how we treat one another. Everything else flows from that—it's pretty obvious once you see it, right?
And who exactly are you to decide which problem is bigger or smaller? What else are you doing by shifting focus from one issue to another if you aren't justifying it?
So, what, if there's a "bigger" problem, we just ignore the smaller ones??
Like, say a woman gets raped and goes to the police to report it. Does the police department just decide, "well, she wasn't murdered, and we have much heavier cases than hers, so we won't bother"?😕
