I’m talking about translating names of people and animals, which seems to be happening more and more often in movies lately. For example, on an old DVD release of "101 Dalmatians," the subtitles actually renamed Cruella de Vil to "Wicked of Evil." Honestly, those kinds of translations drive me crazy. 🙄 What’s your take? Should they be doing this, or should actual names just stay original? Let me know what you think about translating proper names.
Lucky you, you actually have an original cassette😢 I’ve got two vinyl records and a handful of original CDs, but not a single cassette to my name. It’s a bummer.😢
Your Microsoft [It's against the rules to post private info here. Just send a PM.]. Once you log into Microsoft, you should see that I added you 🙂 . Wait, an original cassette???? 😲😲😲😲😲Lucky you, where on earth did you find one?
Yeah, back in 2007 she put out the Voila album, which is basically a collection of covers of those classic French songs—you know, the famous chansons. Although we Belinda fans absolutely love the Voila album, it unfortunately didn't hit the massive success we were all hoping for. She only released two CD singles (and even those were just promos) plus one radio single, and she didn't even film a music video for it.😢I mean, personally, I really dig Voila, and most Belinda fans do too. I'm obsessed with "La Vie en Rose," "If you go away," "Bonnie and Clyde," "Cherished Merc," and "ripples in the water"...😍
BTW silverscout2, I added you on Microsoft. Accept my request so I can share a little Belinda track with you.😉
silverscout2 said:Man, I absolutely loved her, even though I’ve only ever heard one of her albums. I was just a kid when I first popped that cassette in, and honestly, I still blast it in my car today, even though the tape is practically worn out. 😁 I can't remember the album title, but I already know every single track by heart—the first one is "Live Your Life bee Free."
Any recommendations for other good tracks I should download? 😁
That album is called Live Your Life bee Free, same as the song. Do you actually have the original cassette?????????😲😲😲😲
Madonna is packed with hits, but if I had to pick the absolute best: la Luna, Heaven is a Place on Earth, Runaway horses, Vision of you , Summer Rain, World without you , Love never dies , Mad about you , i get weak , Circle in The Sand , do you Feel like i Feel , Emotional highway, Half The World... too many to list.😁
Is there any shop or some kind of place where I can drop off a photo—either printed or just on a thumb drive—and have them make a round button/badge with that image on it? Something like this: http://www.belindacarlislecatalogue.co.uk/lylbfpin.jpg
And where could I go with a photo on a USB to get it turned into a postcard, or maybe even printed large on high-quality paper, like those nice poster prints?
Is any of this actually doable, or at least part of it? If so, where and how...? HELP👎
James Kelly said:Look, I don't know much about her music, but this is actually pretty solid. It’s fine. But here’s the thing: you can't compare a song written in 1990 to anything today. You can't measure it against the current vibe or the general spirit of this era. Back then, if you wanted to stay on the charts—even if you had to follow some plastic, manufactured trend—you still needed a damn good melody. Who was singing it and how the production sounded mattered, sure, but those things weren't everything. Not compared to the songwriting. All that other stuff doesn't even matter to those soulless, pretentious little critics who have nothing better to do with their lives. Look, whether she's hot or not doesn't even matter at this point. What actually matters is if a woman knows her craft. Honestly, I’m not interested in watching music videos filled with models posing around or just guys and girls stripping for the camera. To me, charisma is way more important—but let's be real, charisma doesn't mean a damn thing if the song itself sucks. Here’s what I consider a truly charismatic, great song. It doesn't have anything to do with physical looks—no amount of facial beauty can ever replace the kind of impact this track has. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqTLqRFKjAU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_TZoHNQCKA And of course: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmsRFrN97ek
I’m obsessed with 80s and 90s music—take Taylor Swift fans, for example, they get it—but honestly, today's music just doesn't hold a candle to that era. It can't compete, especially when you look at those beautiful, romantic tracks we used to have back then.
Yeah, but what really gets me is when someone—especially a singer—has everything going for them. Great voice, great lyrics, catchy melodies, looks to die for... and then some idiot decides they just have to start a war over her.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydw5qIycHE0 Look at the people trashing this video. Come on, guys, tell me she isn't stunning. Especially in this part...😍😍😍😍😍
Sure, looks matter when you're making music videos—beauty is subjective, obviously, but let's be real: a pretty face helps sell the vibe. But then again, there are plenty of tracks out there that never even got a video...
James Kelly said:Basically, you're saying "I'm shallow and have zero musical taste."😁 Alright, I'm assuming you're just messing with me.
Everything matters when it comes to music, but if I had to pick one thing, it's gotta be the melody.
You're spot on. I have this friend who decides she doesn't like someone based on looks alone, and then automatically assumes anything they've recorded is garbage. When I finally forced her to actually listen to some stuff, she admitted she liked it—but getting her to listen to her own music is still an uphill battle.🙄🙄🙄🙄
Megan Rodriguez44 said:It’s either the melody or the beat that gets you moving—swaying, grooving, shaking, or just tossing yourself off a bridge or something. The lyrics to "When I Speak Through Someone Else's Mouth"
And just one teaspoon of Maggi seasoning.
There's another category here that's completely off the charts—it's outside the scope and can't even be scored. And that's because I'm emotionally attached to someone or something. And every single law just goes down the drain anyway.
I couldn't agree with you more!!!!!!!
Anyway... Beautiful melody, pure romance, great lyrics...😍 Once someone charms you with songs like that, you end up loving everything about them. That’s exactly how I fell for Belinda Carlisle.😳 She hooked me with those sweet love songs, but now I find myself listening to her entire discography.😍😳🙏
The Go-Go's are fine, but I’m more into her solo stuff. Her solo music hits different for me—it’s softer, more emotional, and just fits my taste better. Plus, when she’s on her own, she actually gets the spotlight she deserves instead of getting lost in the group dynamic. That said, I still dig some Go-Go's tracks: Our lips are sealed, We got the beat, LUST TO LOVE😍, Vacation, Get up and go, Head over heels, Mercenary😳...
@Christian Hughes92/">@@Christian Hughes92: Exactly. She did that Playboy shoot specifically to prove that you don't need to be 20 years old with a 32-34 inch bust to be considered sexually attractive or a woman. Some uneducated hillbillies call her a slut because of it, but honestly, that was one of those moves of hers I really respected—not because of any male perversion, but because of the actual point she was making.
@Walter Garcia53/">@@Walter Garcia53 So, you’d heard la Luna before and didn't even realize she was the one singing it? Glad you like that track, though; we definitely see eye to eye👍 on it. And don't even get me started on the video. That was the first thing I ever actually saw (not just heard, but SAW) of hers, and I was floored... there's something about her gaze in that video that just pulls at your soul...😳 that video totally won me over😍
The song leave a light on is also stunning. It probably makes sense why it's the opening track on the Runaway horses album, which is easily my favorite Belindin record. If anyone needs that video without that annoying title card at the beginning, hit me up. I can send a download link via DM or email 🙂
Heaven is a Place on Earth is her biggest hit, hands down.
I noticed everyone keeps bringing up tracks from the Heaven on Earth and Runaway Horses albums. I’m on the same page—those two are definitely her peak. Personally, Summer Rain hits me hard; that song has made me cry more than anything else, before or since. That said, my absolute favorite has to be la Luna. It was the first track of hers I ever heard, and it hooked me instantly. Probably because of that Latin rhythm and the Spanish title—back before I even knew who this wizard was, I was a huge Latin music fanatic.
Madonna had a massive comeback in 2007 when she dropped Voil, which is basically a collection of covers of her favorite French chansons. Apparently, after she headed over to Europe following the Northridge Earthquake in California, she fell in love with French music, leading to that 2007 release. Word is there might be a new English album slated for 2009. 🙂
It’s good to see someone else who feels the same way about her. I hope you really do love her... if you want to know anything about her stuff or need help finding a specific song, just ask. 🙂
Sadly, this divine singer’s popularity here in the States has tanked—I don't know anyone left who still stans her. That's exactly why I'm starting this thread: to bring together the people who are still listening and still keep her at number one. I really miss having American-language discussions about my favorite artist. So, if there are any of you out there, speak up. Let's get together and talk about what we love.
I’m asking people like Donna Murphy3 and her crowd to just stop with the nonsense...
Halloween is about having fun and messing around, which is exactly what the smart people on here are saying. It has zero to do with believing in God, and all this preaching from priests is just pure stupidity. I don't have to be an atheist to dress up for Halloween, scare my roommates, and go out to cause some trouble with my friends. Last year, I pulled off a legendary prank for Halloween—everyone at my place was terrified, and I'll never forget it... but you cowards act like it's some massive sin... then again, for those religious zealots, even breathing is practically a sin🙄
Back in elementary school, I used to swipe all kinds of cards—Yu-Gi-Oh!, Digimon, Pokémon, you name it—plus random toys...🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣🤣 I even swiped someone's ball at the local community pool once.😁 I can't remember everything, but I'm sure there was plenty of other petty stuff like that... 😁
But look, nothing major... luckily, I don't have any urge to do that anymore.😁
1. Your monitor is probably defective. 2. You’ve got some garbage settings in your media player causing it to trigger on its own.
3. You’re dealing with a virus (which could explain either of those two issues, or both).
Actually, is the physical monitor shaking, or is it just the image on the screen? If the actual hardware is vibrating, then a virus isn't your problem. 😁
