I’ve got a specific PDF dedicated to alternative medicine; you might actually find someone there who has tried those pellets before.
Paying out of pocket for a gastroscopy? in Health ·
Ronald Jackson6 said:Wait, you guys are actually getting gastroscopies done under general anesthesia? 😲

I went through mine at a private clinic, and honestly, I wasn't even mentally prepared for it. They basically just guided me to the table, didn't even bother spraying my throat, had me lie on my side, open my mouth, and boom— 😁
done in about a minute. The nurse was incredibly sweet, and the doctor kept coaching me on how to breathe. I did have a bit of a gag reflex at first, but once the tube settled a little deeper, it passed... $67 btw, it wasn't anything scary. My eyes watered a tiny bit, but that was probably just from the nerves. 😁
I would never go through the hassle of being put under for something so minor, let alone paying a premium for it.

😲 That is an absolute steal

They told me the Holter monitor picked up 238 extrasystoles—those supposedly "harmless" little glitches.
As far as I'm concerned, nothing has changed. Once I finally get this Fever out of my system, I honestly don't know what else I'm supposed to do with myself.🙂

Honestly, that’s nothing. My Holter showed over 400 skipped beats, and I deal with tachycardia too, but since I don't actually feel anything (not even the skips), there's no need for medication.

Here you go—do the math yourself. 😁

Living with hemochromatosis in Health ·
Kimberly Hughes23 said:I just have one question: what are the actual symptoms of this condition? I've been struggling quite a bit for about a year now. I get this dull ache in my liver area, my iron levels are high, and both my Hgb and red blood cell counts are sitting right at the upper limit. I tire out so easily, I feel weak all the time, my skin is incredibly dry, my heart races, and my PMS is absolutely brutal! Could any of this be linked to hemochromatosis? If so, which tests should I look into getting done?

If your liver is hurting, you probably already had your liver enzymes checked, and maybe an ultrasound if necessary.
As for hemochromatosis and its symptoms, I could go on for pages:

Hemochromatosis is an iron metabolism disorder where increased iron absorption causes excess buildup in parenchymal organs, primarily the liver, pancreas, heart, and pituitary gland. A diagnosis can be suggested by the presence of hepatomegaly, skin pigmentation, diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, and hypogonadism. Symptoms typically manifest between the ages of 40 and 60, starting with fatigue, exhaustion, weight loss, changes in skin color, abdominal pain, loss of libido, and diabetic symptoms. Biochemical markers indicating iron accumulation in the liver mainly include elevated serum ferritin levels and increased transferrin saturation. Confirming a diagnosis of hemochromatosis, alongside the appropriate clinical picture and biochemical parameters, requires molecular genetic analysis to identify mutations in the HFE gene.

So, if your ferritin and iron are consistently high, you need to get genetic testing for hemochromatosis (I had mine done at Mayo Clinic). The symptoms aren't usually anything special because the excess iron mostly just destroys the liver; the real panic sets in once you hit cirrhosis. 😁Since I'm only 24, I'd take those notes about symptoms appearing between 40 and 60 with a grain of salt.😁

Resurrecting this thread just a bit😁 My last three iron measurements have been hovering between 40 and 46. My genetic testing showed I'm "just" a carrier—a heterozygote for the milder mutation that doesn't necessarily progress into hemochromatosis—but seeing these high iron levels has me questioning everything. Honestly, even my doctors haven't given me a straight answer😁. My ferritin is within the normal range, but my UIBC is low. If these iron numbers stay this high, I suspect I'll be looking at phlebotomy soon. Is anyone else out there dealing with this same kind of uncertainty?🤷

Mine jumped from 40 to 46 😬

Measured at 42.2 today😠

I'll gladly pass this surplus along to those who are lacking (which, let's face it, is most people)🤣

Biopsy turned out to be a doctor's visit after all. I'll be picking up my bloodwork results soon, and then comes the dreaded gastroscopy.😠I remember reading a thread about this once and honestly hoping I’d never have to go through it myself.🤣

Please tell me you weren't sipping on a Zlatorog!!

But hey, that’s nothing. You should see me after a few rounds—I practically cough up blood! Usually happens right after I finish insulting some six-foot-five guy while I'm drunk, but I'm sure that's totally unrelated. ☕

I had the same thought—maybe it wasn't me, maybe the beer was just bad.🤣

Either way, I'm staying away from it until the US Dollar stabilizes. If the urge hits me even then, then I'll start worrying.

That was my first thought too, but I’ve honestly never had stomach issues before—just a little bit of throat irritation, nothing more.

though I’ll admit my lifestyle isn't exactly healthy, between what I eat and all the stress.

Does anyone have any idea what might cause this? Tonight, after having a few beers (I’m only mentioning the alcohol because I want to figure out if it was triggered by drinking so I can avoid a repeat if I quit), my stomach started hurting pretty badly. I wasn't sure what to do, so I thought maybe I should just try to throw up, and boy, was I in for a surprise😲 right after the first expected wave of beer. During the second round, blood started coming up—dark red blood—and it was all over the toilet bowl. I bolted straight home immediately (I even left more than half a glass unfinished🤣), ignored all the advice telling me to head to the ER😳, and now it seems like everything is fine. My stomach pain actually subsided relatively quickly after the vomiting stopped

I’m going to take a break from drinking for a while, though I honestly don't get how this could be caused by having 6 to 8 beers in an evening; it’s not like I was slamming moonshine or anything🙄

Thoughts?😕 (I don't really feel like searching online, but I would definitely head to the doctor if this happens again)

I can't wait to check this one out. It’s sitting at a 7.0 on IMDb, which makes me wonder if the subject matter just doesn't grab people the way it should.🤷 (to me😛)
