Sorry if this is the wrong subforum. I couldn't find an existing thread through the search bar, so I figured I'd just start a new one—what high-quality office chair would you guys recommend?

Is it even possible to buy one just by looking online, or am I right in thinking I should actually test a chair out in person before deciding if it works for me?

I'm about 6'1", spend a ton of time sitting, and all that...
Where can I try some out and actually buy one? Looking for solid recommendations. 🙂

Don't do it online—you gotta try it physically. A chair might be great for one person and total garbage for another, so you really need to hit up some stores and actually sit in them.

I can vouch for mine—been using it for a few months and I'm finally happy (after struggling through cheap office junk and those IKEA chairs). I'm 5'6" and sit all day at work, so if that helps as a baseline, here's my pick:

If you're okay with the aesthetic, I’d suggest going with a gaming chair. They’re actually pretty solid when it comes to ergonomics if you're sitting for long stretches; those lumbar and neck pillows make a massive difference.

Take this one, for example. It seems like a decent sweet spot for price versus quality.

I don't know what kind of budget you're working with, so just browse the rest of the selection.

I can suggest my own setup, though. I've been using it for a few months now and I'm finally happy with a chair—especially after struggling through some cheap office junk and those basic ones from IKEA. For context, I'm about 5'6" and spend all day sitting at work, so if that helps:

I think this one offers a solid balance of price and quality.

I'm not sure what your budget is, so maybe check out the rest of the selection too.

Thanks for the suggestions. Can I actually try out these specific chairs (or any others) at an IKEA or an HG spot?

You can at IKEA, but I've got no clue about the HG spot.

I can't speak for HGspot, though sometimes they have a few floor models put together that you can test out. It really just depends on which location you hit.
But I just went back to the one I suggested, and they bumped the price from $900 up to $500. So much for a good deal.

I hit up Lowe's, H&M, and IKEA to test out a bunch of different chairs. In the end, I’m leaning toward the Team Liquid one since it's been recommended to me, and honestly, the value for the money seems pretty solid here:

None of the options at Lowe's really worked for me. IKEA has the Mark chair, which is actually decent—at least in my opinion—but I have a feeling this Neon one might be the best fit, though I guess we'll see how it holds up after using it for a while longer.

Bottom line—you really have to go try a chair in person to know if it works for you.🙂
