🤦🤦

Man, you really can't win with people—not with your music, and definitely not with your pointless commentary.

But hey, we still deal with you. Because we’re an actually tolerant community that accepts whatever weirdness our members bring to the table.

So why don't you try doing the same and just accept his avatar?

I swear, this is the first time in the history of this forum anyone has ever complained about someone's damn avatar.

Sam Clark75 said:Just talking aesthetics here—AM and AT look way better than last year, but I’m not feeling the McLaren vibe; that light blue just doesn't work with anything, total mismatch. Though, hey, if they actually turn up fast, I guess I can live with it. 🤣

Good grief, man—that blue has been tied to Gulf since forever.

Based on everything we’ve seen so far (though who knows if these cars actually look anything like what hits the grid for race one), Aston Martin looks completely different from the rest of the pack...
It’s either a total disaster because they missed the mark entirely, or they just hit a home run like Brawn did with the diffuser. 😬

We'll find out soon enough. Like they said, we're all flying blind...

Could someone please explain this to a complete novice?
If testing kicks off on February 23rd, yet Alfa Romeo doesn't unveil the car until the 27th—does that mean we won't be seeing the Alfa in Barcelona?

Alfa Romeo will be running the 2022 car in Barcelona because the Barcelona sessions are basically "secret testing" where they keep the media away. Still, for the sake of official protocol and good PR, they’ll do the formal reveal on the 27th.

But let's be real—there's always going to be some guy hiding out in those hills with a camera lens, so don't worry, we'll probably catch a glimpse of the car before the big reveal anyway.

Thanks for the breakdown! 👍

Right? It’s ugly—and paired with that orange they love so much, it’s just hideous. The car looks like a damn lollipop or some cheap toy. They haven't been able to nail a decent livery for years, not since they went almost entirely black back in 2015/2016. Honestly, though, they were so pathetic back then that I'll happily take a fast car even if it looks like trash.

Sam Clark75 said:Is it just me, or is it actually quite unsightly? Especially when you pair it with that signature orange they love so much; the whole car ends up looking less like a precision machine and more like some oversized lollipop or a cheap plastic toy. It feels as though they have struggled to find a cohesive livery for years now, ever since they drifted toward that almost entirely black aesthetic back in 2015 or 2016. Though, I must admit, they were in such a state of despair back then that if the car turns out to be genuinely fast, I suppose I won't mind the lack of aesthetics too much.

If we are being honest, the last time McLaren truly presented a beautiful car was all the way back in 2005.

What do you mean "yeah, right"?

Both that blue and the orange are literally their sponsor's colors!

You wrote "this light blue goes with nothing, it doesn't match at all."

That sentence actually hurt my eyes because the connection is freaking obvious.

Those are standard Gulf colors, and Gulf is McLaren's main sponsor.

I mean, how can anyone claim those two colors "don't match"—it's completely beyond me.

Even that blue. Both the blue and the orange are their sponsor's colors!

You wrote that "this light blue doesn't go with anything, it makes no sense"

That sentence actually hurt my eyes—the connection is more than obvious.

Those are standard Gulf colors, and Gulf is McLaren's main sponsor

I mean, how can anyone claim those two colors have "nothing to do with each other"—that's just completely beyond me.

Again... so what? Just because they're sponsor colors, does that automatically mean they look good together? They don't look right on the original product, and they don't look right on the car now either. ☕

McLaren looked rather elegant back in Monaco last year, which makes it a bit of a shame they didn't opt for a setup more aligned with that aesthetic, even if they insist they actually did 🕺

Of all the cars on display, the AMR22 is certainly the most intriguing to me; between the overall design and those specific details like the "shark fin," I find myself quite curious to see how it actually performs out on the track 🎉

You are an incredibly stubborn woman

1) This isn't even about whether they look good—let the designers worry about aesthetics. I'm not an artist, and neither are you.

2) The whole argument is whether there's any actual connection between those two colors—whether there's "no connection" or if there actually *is* one.

3) I literally laid out the proof showing the link between them. The connection is the Gulf sponsor, who has been using that specific color combo for decades.

4) The way you wrote your original post made it sound like someone just grabbed some random light blue and slapped it onto the car by accident.

5) To make things even more tragic, you’re doubling down on this idea that it's just a random, ugly color choice simply because you're too stubborn to admit you're wrong.

6) The President doesn't like stubborn women, he doesn't like forum fights, and he definitely doesn't like conflict in general. So, maybe think about whether you want to keep this going, or if you'd rather just be sweet and polite—like a proper forum member the President actually likes—and admit the President is right and your "no connection" comment was total nonsense.

Blue and orange are technically complementary colors, a pairing frequently utilized to make certain elements pop.

It really comes down to finding the right balance between shades; personally, I find the contrast a bit jarring because the blue feels quite cold and muted, whereas the orange carries such warmth. They might have achieved a more cohesive look with a better selection of tones.

Furthermore, they could have opted for an even deeper shade of blue. Since orange is essentially Max's signature color, it would have made sense for them to lean into a distinct visual identity that separates them from the Orange Army while still paying homage to their sponsors.

That said, I don't find it all that bad; after all, it is McLaren. 🙂

Edit: I just caught the President's post regarding stubborn women. 🙂

1) This isn't even about whether it looks good or not—leave that to the art critics. I'm no critic myself, and clearly you aren't either.

2) The actual argument here is whether there's any connection between those two colors or if they just don't go together.

3) I already laid out the proof showing there is a link. The link is the Gulf sponsor, who's been using those two colors for decades.

4) The way you phrased your post that started this whole mess makes it seem like someone just picked a random shade of light blue and slapped it on the car.

5) To make things even more tragic, because you're so headstrong and refuse to back down from anything you post, you're just doubling down on this idea that the color was random and looks terrible.

6) The President doesn't like stubborn women, he doesn't like forum fights, and he doesn't like conflict in general. So maybe think about whether you want to keep this going, or if you'll just be nice—like a proper forum member the President actually likes—and admit he's right and you were wrong to say "they don't match."

😂

Yeah, I'm stubborn—pretty much just as much as you are, Mr. President.

1) My comment was purely about aesthetics. How do you know I'm not an art critic if you're admitting you aren't one?

2) You say there's a connection because of the sponsor, and fine, sure, there is. But that's not a counter-argument to the fact that the combo looks ugly. In this free country, I'm gonna say it looks ugly, and I'll also say there's no connection between the colors simply because I feel like saying so. That's my plan for the future, too. Sorry not sorry.

3) Okay. Whatever.

4) Someone definitely just picked that blue at random and stuck it next to the orange without any logic, and then these guys just copied those colors onto the car. You happy now? Is that better? What's the point?

5) It's honestly pathetic what people—let's call them women—allow themselves to be these days! 🙂

6) If the President doesn't like forum fights, then the President shouldn't start them, and then we wouldn't have any fights to begin with. 🙂
Don't push it by forcing me to admit I'm wrong; you're really overstepping there. 😁

ruggedscout76 said:Blue and orange are actually complementary colors, which are often used to make something pop.

You just have to pair the right shades. Personally, what bothers me is that the blue is cold (sort of grayish), while the orange is warm. They had much better combinations in the past.

Exactly, the issue is how bright one color is compared to how washed out the other is. For example, last year when they used dark blue with a bright orange, it didn't look totally disastrous. I didn't love it, but it wasn't as bad as this.

ruggedscout76 said:All in all, it’s not even that bad—it's still McLaren, after all.🙂

Even if things go totally south, it’s still McLaren. Once they actually start performing like we expect them to—then and only then will we forgive them.

1) My comment was strictly about aesthetics. How do you know I’m not an art lover if you won't even admit you aren't?

2) You say it's because of sponsors—fine, sure, it is. But that doesn't change my point—the color combo looks hideous. In this free country, I'm allowed to say it looks ugly, and I'm also allowed to say there's zero logic behind the colors just because I feel like it. That's how I'll keep doing it. Sorry not sorry.

3) Whatever. Have it your way.

4) Someone definitely just picked some random blue, slapped it next to orange without any thought, and then those colors got copied onto the race car. Happy now? Is that better, or how exactly does that fix anything?

It's honestly tragic what people—especially women—are letting slide these days! 🙂

6) If the President hates forum drama, he shouldn't be starting it—then we wouldn't have the drama in the first place. 🙂
Don't try to force me to admit I'm wrong—you're totally overreaching here. 😁

1) We aren't talking about aesthetics. Period.

The issue is that you're too embarrassed to admit you didn't realize the blue was there because of a sponsorship deal. Now you're pushing this whole "aesthetic" angle just to sweep the fact that you completely missed the obvious branding under the rug. And you're clearly ashamed of it.

Well, it's not working. This guy has seen through way bigger scammers than you in his lifetime, so you don't stand a chance.

Now you're pushing this whole "aesthetic" angle just to sweep it under the rug—basically hiding the fact that it never even crossed your mind that these were sponsor colors. You're clearly mortified by that little slip-up and want to bury it.

Well, it's not working. The President has seen through way bigger scammers than you in his entire life, so you really think he won't see through you?

You don't know what you're talking about and you aren't actually having a conversation with anyone. 😁 Honestly, I'm dying of secondhand embarrassment right now. 😂
