Look, I totally get where the ladies are coming from. I'm not being a simp, I promise. It’s just that, from a pure design standpoint, the MCL36 is an absolute visual nightmare—something you rarely see in Formula 1. It reminds me of how Williams used to look back in the day.

McLaren always seems to be messing with their livery. Back in the 70s, before those massive sponsorship deals took over, they actually had this beautiful, cohesive identity in both Can-Am and the World Endurance Championship.

Once Vodafone left the team, that iconic aesthetic they built starting with West basically died. They've tried everything to reclaim those "original" colors, but honestly? Nothing. Zilch. Ferrari stays red because it's red, and you have to respect that. I lost respect for Mercedes once they went with black, and teams like Williams just seem to lose their way... Speaking of McLaren, they actually had two schemes that should have been untouchable:

1. A modern take on the classic colors from 2018-2021



2. A modern tribute to the Gulf colors—Monaco GP 2021



This year's McLaren is just a mess, kind of like that disaster back in 2017. Just a jumble of random colors and weird lines. Why couldn't they just brighten up that old blue and call it a day? Voila.



Ferrari is the gold standard, the true institution for everyone else in Formula 1! As for the rest of them, they're just drifting aimlessly, living by the idea that even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Unfortunately, they only showed off the colors, just like Red Bull did. Still, I actually dig this—it’s a huge step up from that whole smoothie lane mess.

Looking at this Alfa, I can't help but feel it's basically a carbon copy of the 2014 Williams, just with a slightly more polished engine intake setup inspired by the Mercedes W01. I have a feeling this Alfa is going to be absolute beast on those tight, twisty tracks where low downforce is the name of the game.

One thing that really jumps out at me is how those ultra-wide, flat vents for hot air exhaust are positioned on cars like Alpha Tauri or McLaren—they're sitting so high up, almost level with the exhaust. I'm pretty convinced that even Mercedes will probably go with a similar concept, maybe a bit shorter and shaped more like a bottle, just to slightly speed up the airflow toward the rear wing assembly. That's become that famous Beam Wing, you know? The wing that directs the flow. Basically, that rear spoiler element is going to take the place of those heavy diffuser edge flaps we saw this year.

As far as McLaren goes, they’re rocking their sponsor colors now, but honestly? Those colors are just ugly.
Just like how RP looked absolutely hideous back in the day when they were rocking those BWT sponsor colors. 🤣

My latest guess looks more like the Mercedes W13. My assumption is below, while the McLaren idea is above:



It’s basically the same as the Lane car, just tweaked for the regulations and with a better aggressive rake. It features sidepods designed to work alongside the full Quantum effect package. The engine radiator opening is larger, and the cooling duct is packaged differently than the Lane car—it sits closer to the diffuser and the rear wing guide.

I'm just bored, so here’s a mirrored version of my guess for what the Mercedes W13 looks like. Personally, I think it looks pretty powerful.

Williams just went with bigger openings to cram as many radiators as possible toward the front. They’re also using a top intake since there’s plenty of room behind it—basically anything to keep that rear "coke bottle" section tight.

Alfa, meanwhile, is running a cooling setup similar to Aston, though they have that weirdly shaped intake on top too.

Oh, and word is Alpha Tauri might be trying to vent hot air from the cooling through the floor near the diffuser—just a little trick to try and boost the ground effect.

From what I can gather, Williams is running a split cooling inlet
which suggests the upper section might not even be for cooling, but rather just to help direct airflow toward the rear of the car.

I think the Williams looks great. I’m still waiting to see how the Alfa turns out, but so far, I’m liking most of them—some more than others.
Haas is the only one for me that feels below average; it looks pretty bland and just lacks inspiration.

Panj is having a rough time over at the Williamson marketing department—especially since the car keeps slamming into colors that look way too much like the Alpine design style
