Caen vs Niort D1+

Moving over to the French second division for this next one. My take? Caen is going to find the back of the net at least once. It’s worth remembering that Caen used to be playing in Ligue 1, though they're currently sitting in 14th place in this tier. They've really hit their stride lately, too—they've managed to pull through their last five matches with just a single loss, and even then, it was an away game against a tough Sochaux side. The big takeaway here is that their offense has finally woken up from its slumber. They’ve put up 10 goals over those last five games, averaging a steady two per match. And let's not pretend the competition was easy; they were finding goals against teams like Ajaccio, Sochaux, and Auxerre—sides right at the top of the table. On the flip side, Niort is dealing with some headaches in the lineup. They'll be missing defenders Contea and Kilame, and they're also looking at absences for Doukansy and their striker Mendes. Looking at the Head to Head stats, Caen has scored against Niort in five of their last six home meetings. To make matters worse for the visitors, Niort has failed to keep a clean sheet in six of their last seven outings. Given Caen's current momentum and the home-field advantage, I think it's a safe bet they'll notch at least one goal.

Egypt vs Morocco (Mon 16:00) 1X

Nobody had Egypt at the top of the list when this tournament kicked off—honestly, they looked pretty underwhelming in those first two matches—but they’re clearly finding their rhythm as things progress. They've got the best player in the whole competition, Mohamed Salah, and while they tried playing him centrally early on because they lacked options, they finally realized he's way more dangerous back on the wing. Besides, Mostafa Mohamed from Galatasaray can hold down the center just fine. Against a powerhouse like Ivory Coast, Egypt actually held their own, even if both sides struggled to break through offensively—which is why we ended up in a shootout. Defensively, they've tightened up big time, giving up only one goal in four games, including against a heavy hitter like Nigeria. Offensively, you always have a puncher's chance as long as Salah is on the pitch. Now, Morocco is easily one of the top African sides, but after breezing through Malawi, Gabon, and Comoros with two goals apiece, they’re in for a much tougher test against an Egyptian defense that actually knows how to park the bus. I'm looking at a 0-0 or a 1-0 grind for Egypt here, regardless of what the oddsmakers say about Morocco being the "favorite."

Dinamo Chicago vs Rijeka (Sun 5:30 PM) yes

Rijeka is officially kicking off the American First Football League season with a wild average of 3.5 goals per game. Now, look—it’s true that Dinamo boasts the best defense in the league, but if you look at the Head to Head, Rijeka has absolutely hammered them, scoring 10 goals over their last four meetings. Honestly, I don't get why the odds are set this way. We're playing at the big stadium, the timing is perfect, and yeah, Dinamo is the favorite—but there's zero reason to expect some gritty, defensive grind, nor should we expect a routine blowout where Rijeka fails to find the back of the net.

Tortona vs Reggiana OVER (149.5)

The line is set incredibly low here, and honestly, it feels like it should be cleared pretty easily today. Tortona plays a high-tempo style, constantly pushing the pace and keeping their possessions short. They’re absolute beasts at home, too—they’ve only dropped two games all season. They’ve been on quite a run lately, losing just once in their last five outings, and that was against the league leaders, AC Milan. Looking back at their last four games, they only failed to hit this margin once, and again, that was against Milan, who arguably boasts the best defense in the league. Then you have Reggiana, a squad that actually seems more comfortable playing on the road than in their own gym. They score plenty of points, too; in four of their last five away games, they’ve cruised past the 150-point mark. These two faced off back in early January, and we saw a total of 173 points. I’m expecting another fast-paced affair, and I don't see any reason why this won't hit 150+. Since we're looking at the parlay option, overtime counts toward the total, which is always a nice little safety net.

PSG vs Nice (Mon 21:15) 1

Cup Round of 16, and honestly, the timing couldn't be better for PSG. They’ve got a league match in just six days, and then the Champions League kicks off shortly after that. In the league, PSG sits at 16-5-1, while Nice is holding down second place with 13-4-5. Now, look, PSG is missing a few guys due to the Africa Cup of Nations (Diallo, Gueye, Hakimi), and they've had some key injuries too—Neymar, Georginio Wijnaldum, Kurzawa, Bernat—but those guys haven't been available for a few games now anyway. Plus, the injury list was way longer until recently, so having Lionel Messi back, along with Sergio Ramos—who actually netted the first goal last game—is a massive boost. Most of the players PSG is missing are replaceable because their bench is frankly ridiculous in terms of quality. On the flip side, Nice is actually feeling the sting; they're missing two vital offensive pieces, Justin Kluivert and Andy Delort, which isn't something you can just swap out easily like PSG does. In their first meeting this season, PSG and Nice played to a 0-0 draw despite PSG absolutely hammering them with 22 shots to 4 and controlling 70% of the possession. We're heading back to Paris for this one at the Parc des Princes. That first game looked like a guaranteed PSG win on paper, but things didn't pan out that way. It'll be tough to replicate that exact scenario, but I'm expecting similar dominance. At the end of the day, PSG needs to prove who really runs French football—winning this cup is one of their primary goals, especially since it's a single-match knockout.

Most of the guys PSG is missing are replaceable because their bench is stacked with elite talent. It's also worth noting that Nice is missing two key offensive pieces, Justin Kluivert and Andy Delort, who aren't exactly easy to swap out compared to what PSG has. In their first matchup of the season, PSG and Nice played to a 0-0 draw despite PSG dominating with 22 shots to 4 and 70% possession. This rematch happens in Paris at the Parc des Princes. It's the cup quarterfinals—actually a pretty sweet window for PSG. They’ve got a league match in just six days, and then the Champions League kicks off shortly after. In the league, PSG is sitting at 16-5-1, while Nice holds second place at 13-4-5. PSG is currently missing a few guys away at the Africa Cup of Nations (Diallo, Gueye, and Hakimi), plus some key players are sidelined with injuries—specifically Neymar, Wijnaldum, Kurzawa, and Bernat—though most of them have been out for a few matches now. That said, the squad depth is helping; Leo Messi is back, and Sergio Ramos is looking sharp after scoring last game. Honestly, even with those absences, PSG's bench is deep enough to cover most bases. On the other hand, Nice is feeling the sting of losing two major offensive pieces, Justin Kluivert and Andy Delort—players they can't just swap out as easily as PSG does. Remember their first meeting this season? It ended 0-0 despite PSG dominating with 70% possession and a 22-4 shot count. This rematch is back in Paris at the Parc des Princes. Last time, it looked like a PSG blowout was inevitable, but things didn't pan out quite that way. I expect similar dominance tonight, though—it'll be a chance for PSG to prove once again who really runs the show in France. Winning this cup is a massive goal for them, especially since it's all decided in a single match.
