Why do people only use "hot" to describe someone's body?

I honestly don't quite get it.

My whole philosophy is that someone has to be attractive as a complete package.

For instance, I find Ben Affleck attractive.

It’s all about the overall vibe and how everything comes together for me.
😳 If you guys don't look at things that way, would you mind explaining why and how you approach it?

At the end of the day, Ben Affleck is first and foremost an incredible actor

For a face, you’re supposed to say it's "pretty." To me, though, "pretty" feels a bit cheesy—too romantic.
If we're talking about some fairytale-level beauty or a classic look, maybe "pretty" works... but calling a face "hot" feels more intense. That's just my own weird internal logic, though.

Probably not the smartest way to put it, but honestly, fifteen years ago, I didn't even know what the word "distinguished" meant.

You wouldn't believe how stunned I was when an acquaintance described her ex as "super hot." This guy had one of the ugliest faces I've ever seen in my life, even if he did have a good physique. Up until then, I always used "handsome" for a face... so I cautiously told her, "Well, his face isn't really my type." She just looked at me and said, "Oh, well, you can't call a face 'handsome' if it doesn't fit..." Later, I brought it up to some friends, and everyone agreed—apparently, people use "hot" for the body, not the face.

To me, "good-looking" refers to someone's face, whereas "sexy" describes a killer physique (honestly, a great body can make the whole picture work). But saying a body is "good-looking"? That just doesn't sit right with me. A body is sexy or attractive, it isn't "good-looking." 😂😂😂

To me, calling someone "charming" is more about that vibe they give off. It's like, you meet them and they just radiate this positive energy right away. You aren't necessarily thinking about them in a sexual way; it’s just that they have such a great aura and are genuinely pleasant to be around.

It’s a solid, comprehensive package.
