Request to revoke perm for user Quark

It’s been nearly a full year since Quark was banned from the site.
Now, look, I don't know the specifics of what he actually did or how bad his offense really was, so I won't pretend to be an expert on the details of the case.
What I *do* know is his track record here. The guy's posts were genuinely sharp—witty, entertaining, and honestly, you could learn a lot just by reading him. His insights into the IT world were particularly top-tier.

So, here’s my pitch: I’m asking you to reconsider the permanent ban. In my eyes, a year is more than enough time to serve a sentence.
Besides, we’ve seen permanent bans lifted for other users before, sometimes even after multiple infractions.

By sticking to such a draconian punishment, I think you're being unfair to a significant chunk of this community that actually enjoys his contributions. And trust me, I’m definitely not the only one who feels this way.

The rules are clear: he has to be the one to step forward. That's just how things work.

I’m with you on this. I won't get bogged down in the weeds, but Michael Morgan5 pretty much summed it all up perfectly.

The issue is that Quark can’t exactly defend himself since he’s been permabanned from the FBI too, which feels like a pretty nonsensical move to me. It's a closed loop—he's banned from the very platform where he would actually need to ask for forgiveness.

I honestly thought the FBI was supposed to be off-limits when it comes to permanent bans and stuff like that.

So, what’s the move then—how does one even go about requesting an unban if that isn't an option?... 🤷

I mean, I don't know, but hitting someone with a permanent ban from the FBI is basically like tying their hands and feet, putting a millstone around their neck, and tossing them into a pool just to see if they can swim...

Is it possible to simply open a clone account and use it to request an unban?

Come on, even if they did kill someone, they'd get a lighter sentence.
And don't even get me started on doxxing—this guy basically put his whole life story right there in his signature.

It would be quite helpful if an interested moderator could explain the what, the how, and the why. If memory serves, the last request like this ended with nothing but a locked thread and zero explanation.

Personally, I think that’s a bad move. If he tries it, the mods or admins could just issue a permanent ban on the alt too, which gives them even more reason to keep Quark permanently banned. It would be better if they just stripped his permanent status with the FBI first, then let him come out and address this here himself.

But, all jokes aside, I've been on this forum long enough to see plenty of absolute losers and hypocrites get treated way better—and ultimately spared from these kinds of measures. I won't get into the specifics of why, but it feels like it would be fair if the Quark crowd...

Free Quark, man. And honestly, IT professionals are actual human beings too. I mean, if you consider someone an IT pro while they still think Windows XP represents the absolute peak of human achievement... well, I don't know. I highly doubt anyone even remembers why he was banned in the first place.

Look, I’m asking you all—please, just stop filing complaints or requests on behalf of other people. There’s a reason Quark is a permanent ban, and there’s a very good reason why they were handed those partial bans in the first place. Privacy is one of the absolute pillars of this forum, and honestly, anyone who keeps sticking their nose where it doesn't belong and leaking someone else's info shouldn't even be here. This wasn't some one-time fluke or a simple misunderstanding, either. It wasn't "just" a small mistake, either.

I would just like to add two points regarding our little corner of the internet. First, as Nica pointed out, getting partial bans isn't exactly a common occurrence, especially when it comes to permanent suspensions. When someone receives both a permanent ban and a partial restriction, it implies they showed absolutely no restraint, and that was quite literally the only way to shut them down.
Secondly, our colleague Quark actually has a specific protocol for appealing to the moderators to request the lifting of a permanent ban. As it happens, I am aware that just a week or two ago, he reached out through indirect channels to appeal his ban; apparently, the MK moderators reviewed the case, and for the time being, his request has been denied.
