Finally sat down to watch this incredible movie, and man, it really hit me hard. 👍 The way they handled such a heavy story was masterclass—the characters, the acting (S. Weaver is hands down my favorite actress). Visually, it’s stunning, and those animations? Top tier. I haven't actually read the book yet. Having Liam Neeson provide the narration/voice for the monster is a genius move (cool little detail that he also plays Lizzin's father / Conor's grandfather).
The film nails how Conor deals with his family situation, right up until the moment he finally faces the truth—his absolute biggest fear. It explains why he kept asking his grandma, his dad, and the principal "Aren't you going to punish me?" whenever he did something; it wasn't about his actions, it was about the guilt over his own thoughts and feelings that he felt were wrong.
