I know this might seem like a pretty random topic to bring up, but it’s actually weighing heavily on my mind right now.

I’m 34 years old, and I was recently diagnosed with a complete blockage of my left middle cerebral artery. (I’m going to write part of this in English because all my medical reports are in English—since I’m currently abroad and everything here is done in English, I don't even know the specific American medical terms for some of this unless I just translate them directly).

From what I can gather, there’s a silver lining: the blockage seems to have developed gradually over time rather than happening overnight. Because of that, my collateral vessels were able to step up and take over the workload, which prevented me from having a full-blown stroke.

Right now, I’m taking 100mg of aspirin daily, and honestly, I’m terrified. I’m just waiting for a battery of tests that I don't even fully understand yet to figure out the "what," the "how," and the "why."

So, here I am. Even though I have health insurance, I have serious doubts about the expertise of the doctors here.
It’s very likely that I’ll decide to head back to the States to continue my treatment privately, paying out of pocket. Because of that, I was wondering if anyone knows what kind of procedures are typically recommended for this diagnosis and, more importantly, what the costs look like.

Thanks.

I'm 34 years old, and I was recently diagnosed with a total blockage of the middle cerebral artery behind my left eye. (I’ll be writing part of this in English since all my medical reports are in English—I’m currently stuck abroad and don't even know the specific American medical terminology for some of these things unless I just translate them directly).

From what I can gather, there’s a silver lining here: the blockage developed gradually over a certain period rather than happening overnight. Because of that, the collateral vessels managed to step up and take over the workload of the main artery—otherwise, I would have suffered a full-blown stroke.

Right now, I'm on 100mg of aspirin daily, and honestly, I'm terrified... I'm just waiting for a battery of diagnostic tests—most of which are completely foreign to me—to figure out the what, the how, and the why of this whole mess.

So, here I am. I have health insurance, BUT the competence of the doctors here is highly questionable at best.
It is very likely that I will decide to move my treatment back to the States to see specialists privately, at my own expense. That's why I'm asking if anyone knows about potential procedures for this specific diagnosis and, more importantly, what they might cost.

Thanks.
