Jason Campbell70 said:How would you describe the Mercedes-Benz engine compared to the Renault one?

Well, what I mean is that they can hit higher RPMs much more easily in lower gearsโ€”which helps them gain speed fasterโ€”especially when they're tucked in the slipstream with the DRS wide open.

Iโ€™m certainly not denying that the Mercedes-Benz is fast and arguably the better car here ๐Ÿ™‚ but it isn't quite ๐Ÿ˜ฒ working the way you think it is.

They laughed at Kepler too. So, where are all those jokers now, and where is Kepler?

Su basically invented the term "Keplerian" just to describe someone talking absolute nonsense

Except in the end, all those "nonsense" claims actually turned out to be true

I'm not saying Mercedes isn't fast or superior, ๐Ÿ™‚ but it isn't quite ๐Ÿ˜ฒ what you're implying.

It isn't ๐Ÿ˜ฒ"?

Are you really suggesting that a 19 miles/h gap at the speedtrap is just business as usual when teams are fighting for a top three spot?

Were you maybe thirteen back then? That would definitely explain a lot...

It seems like the announcer still can't quite wrap his head around saying Kivijat or Gutierrez correctly. ๐Ÿคฆ

He might struggle, but there is one small silver lining: over at Sky, they actually call him Kivijat...๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Does anyone actually think Nico Rosberg is faster or better than Lewis Hamilton?

Anyone?
Seriously, no trolling.

The answer to this tells you everything.
Everything.

Better at grabbing a title, sure. Faster? Not even close.
Dead serious.

DRS gives you maybe 5-6.2 miles/h, and everything else is just pure engine difference...

Man, Massa and Perez ๐Ÿ˜ณ

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2f8YrWb7i_Q

Honestly, Vettel handled that perfectly. I have zero clue how he managed to dodge Massa while simultaneously clipping him and jerking to the right...
But the interesting part is that he was actually right on Rosberg's tail, just like the rest of the pack...

Iโ€™m pretty sure both Vettel and Massa would've taken him out without a second thought if Massa and Perez hadn't collided first.๐Ÿ˜ณ

Honestly, Vettel handled that perfectly. I have no idea how he managed to avoid hitting Massa while dealing with that sudden jerk to the right...

Check out the on-board footage from Vettel's car. Only then will you see just how skillfully he navigated that.

Dead serious here.

By the way, whatโ€™s the actual win ratio for the races where Lewis and Nico finished?

After seven races, Lewis Hamilton still has more wins than all the other drivers combined.

In those seven races, Hamilton made maybe one mistakeโ€”that was just now in Canada when he locked up his front right tire entering turn eight during the final lap of Q3, costing him the PP.

Everything else has been nearly flawless.

Look, I don't necessarily view Hamilton as some tactical genius on the level of Alonso... but let's be real, he isn't the choker people have been painting him as lately.

Based on what some people are posting on these forums, you'd think Lewis Hamilton had already blown half the races this season.

Seven races in, and Lewis Hamilton still has more wins than everyone else combined.

Look, that's not even the point...
Man, just look at that 2012 season ๐Ÿ˜‰
I watched it the other day and was honestly floored that those numbers were even possible...

Check out Rosberg vs Michael Schumacher in the races they both finished๐Ÿ˜ณ
7 to 2 for Schumacher, and even then, Rosberg took 93 points while Schumacher got 49. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

That tells you everything you need to know...
The issue is that Rosberg is basically an Alonso type...
Not quite the same level of raw talent, but he's definitely right up there when it comes to racing IQ.

Just look at that 2012 season. ๐Ÿ˜‰
I watched it back once and was honestly stunned it was even possible...

Consider Rosberg vs. Michael Schumacher in the races where they both finished:๐Ÿ˜ณ
7 wins to 2 for Schumacher, yet Rosberg walked away with 93 points compared to Schumacher's 49.๐Ÿ˜ณ

That tells you everything you need to know...
The issue is that Rosberg is the type of driver similar to Fernando Alonso...
Not quite possessing that level of raw talent, but certainly on par when it comes to racing intelligence...

And how did the "intelligent" Fernando Alonso fare in 2010 or 2012?

All that intelligence doesn't mean a thing if you lack speed.
Whether it's the car's pace or your own.
Was Jenson Button any less intelligent or resourceful during the seasons before Ross Brawn arrived?

When faced with the choice between a pure racer and a points collector, I'll always pick the racer.
Take Alonso againโ€”by the end of 2012, he was just playing the points game.
He put himself in a position where he wasn't even in control of his own fate.

Lewis Hamilton relies on himself.
Nico Rosberg relies on Lewis Hamilton.

And that is exactly the point.

And actually, I managed to catch the difference in top speed on the straight between Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton:

When was the last time the slower driver on a team actually walked away with a world championship title?
Was it back in '96?

Jason Campbell70 said:So how did "genius" Fernando Alonso manage through '10 or '12?

Pure racer vs. points scavengerโ€”Iโ€™ll take the racer every single time.
And there goes Alonso againโ€”spending the end of '12 just hunting scraps.
He basically played himself into a corner where he wasn't even in control anymore.

And where was Lewis Hamilton during those 2010 and 2012 seasons with all that raw speed?
Especially in 2012, when he had the fastest car more than once...

Sure, heโ€™s way more exciting to watch, but let's be real: Alonso's playing-it-safe approach actually paid off way more than Hamilton's "win at all costs, regardless of the consequences" style.

Jason Campbell70 said:Lewis Hamilton relies on himself.
Nico Rosberg relies on Lewis Hamilton.

And that's the whole point.

Look at the stats from early 2007 until now...
Hamilton has 26 wins and 22 DNFs... it's almost a wash.๐Ÿ˜
Rosberg has 5 wins and 17 DNFs...

No matter how you slice it, Hamilton was driving better/faster/more expensive cars, so logically they should have been more reliable, not less...

Everything you're saying holds up and I agree, but then there's that stupid final race...
If Hamilton hadn't predictably DNF'd in that race, you'd be arguing that even if Rosberg had 4 or 5 wins and Hamilton had at least 10, Rosberg would still be the champion.

Iโ€™ve already broken down how we ended up with that 19 miles mph gapโ€”and trust me, it's definitely not all down to the engine power alone.
