He’s just never going to catch a break.

Comparing Prost to Rosberg is pure blasphemy.

Once upon a time... or whatever.
When Rosberg saw that breakdown coming, he backed off to try and salvage what was left. Sure, he had a hell of a time dealing with Perez hanging on his tail and holding up the pack, but let's be real—he wasn't out there trying to outrun the entire field all at once.

On the other hand, Hamilton went out there in a car with zero brakes just to hunt down Rosberg because he heard the guy was struggling—even though he knew his own situation was way worse.
Then he has the nerve to lecture us about how he had to retire because his car overheated. Oh, sure, because he was tailgating Rosberg so closely. It didn't even cross his mind to just back off, create a two or three-second gap, and try to salvage a few points? No, of course not. He had to charge for the win in a junker.

And here’s the funny thing: you, being the ultimate Alonso superfan, keep crying about "luck." Personally, as someone who can't stand the guy, I’m convinced he would’ve done exactly what Rosberg did—just grab whatever points he could get and run. He wouldn't have played the hero like some martyr; he would've been just as cutthroat as anyone else.

I think you might be missing the point here... Lewis’s brakes were struggling because he was pushing so hard to make those overtakes in the first half of the race. If Rosberg had kept riding with that same brake balance and aggressive style, his brakes probably would have given out in about 5 to 10 laps. He only adjusted his driving style and settings after Lewis retired—just listen to the team radio for a second...

That’s just because iRacing doesn't simulate tire degradation or brake wear, so that's probably why you feel that way.😛

crimsonstag84 said:They basically gave Rosberg a quick heads-up on what to do once Hamilton's stuff failed. It happened right after Hamilton tried to hunt down Rosberg earlier—if he hadn't been chasing him, they probably wouldn't have had to step in.

Not true.
Both their MGU-K units died at the same time. The difference was that Rosberg called it early and shifted his brake balance to the front, while Hamilton kept pushing Rosberg, trying to out-brake him with later and harder braking points...

By the way, the brakes this season aren't nearly as robust as in previous years. They’re constantly relying on the MGU-K to help slow the car down, so the brakes take a beating since the car isn't actually designed to function properly without the MGU-K. Plus, there's the weight issue.
That's one of the massive headaches when the MGU-K dies; finishing the race becomes almost impossible because the brakes can't handle it, not to mention the fuel consumption issues...
What Rosberg did was a lightning-fast, smart reaction. Mad respect to him for that. 👍

ruggedhawk20 said:If you're just trolling, fine. But if you actually believe Williams, Force India, and McLaren are way better than Red Bull Racing, you've got some serious judging issues. You're a fun guy to chat with, but someone really needs to set you straight.

Red Bull is currently the second-best car.

McLaren truth, Force India, and Williams have better engines—but a car isn't just an engine.

Besides, McLaren is basically a junker that only stays ahead of the Caterhams because of that engine.

I agree that Red Bull showed they're the second-best car so far, and they'll be that again in Austria.

But in Canada, they had a massive issue with straight-line speed... honestly, Red Bull didn't stand a chance against any of those other cars we saw. The only reason they ended up ahead was because of Perez's struggles, while all those other cars could have easily overtaken Red Bull...
Another thing: they all ended up stuck in a DRS train where nobody actually had a real advantage. If Ricciardo and Vettel hadn't been lacking DRS, they would've blown past those Williams cars like they were standing still...
Plus, I'm convinced the Williams guys only stayed behind them because of poor driving; they definitely had the pace.☕
Bottas had his issues, but let's be real—Massina should have won this without mercy, and he blew it himself.

As for McLaren, I agree with what was said, but my point stands: they had a huge advantage thanks to that engine...

crimsonstag84 said:You clearly aren't getting it. Lewis's brakes were shot because he was pushing like a maniac to make passes in the first half. If Rosberg had kept running with that same brake balance and driving style, his brakes probably would've given out in five or ten laps. He only adjusted his setup and how he was driving after Lewis retired—just listen to the team radio.

That’s only because iRacing doesn't even account for tire wear or brake degradation, so you're basically just guessing. 😛

Come on, use your head...
If Hamilton’s brakes were acting up because of this or that during a specific window, why exactly is that happening?
Did Hamilton just wreck his own brakes, or did someone else absolutely nail him in a corner?

Which kid hasn't tried to dive past Rosberg through the pit lane by pulling two blistering laps—an in-lap and an out-lap—even though he’s clearly fast enough to smoke him? Instead, he just keeps trying to muscle his way ahead with late braking and absolutely destroying his brakes in the process.

That's just because iRacing doesn't have tire or brake wear said:

Maybe if you actually dropped a few bucks and moved out of the Mazda Cup, you'd realize tire and brake wear actually exist

You can't judge iRacing based on the Mazda Cup alone.

But you *can* judge people based on their iRacing habits. If someone spends years grinding the FREE Mazda Cup, they're definitely a scrub. Sounds harsh, but someone had to tell you.

Shell out some cash for other cars and tracks—then you'll see what real tire wear looks like.

In the NASCAR Xfinity Series, tires last maybe 5-6 laps, man—and races go 100 laps deep—so do the math.

ruggedhawk20 said:Mamin, I’m basically just repeating what you said—why are you ignoring the obvious here?! It wasn't some random stroke of bad luck for Lewis; they both hit technical issues at the exact same time. One guy just got lucky, and the other didn't. It's not fate, it's just how the math worked out.

What exactly are you getting at?

It's all right there—you actually have to read.

If you were one of my favorite people on this board, maybe I'd bother repeating everything that was already explained—but since you aren't, go back and read the posts from a few hours ago.

Whatever.

Here is the replay. 😁
ruggedhawk20 said:Rosberg possessed enough skill to adapt his driving to the changing conditions where brake wear was higher, managing to preserve them. Lewis failed to do so.

Speed isn't everything. There is also the matter of driver skill.

ruggedhawk20 said:It wasn't that Lewis lost his brakes—it's more that he essentially let them go.

The real culprit here was the MG-K, which actually failed on both cars at the exact same time.

Now, Rosberg had just enough finesse to adjust his driving style on the fly to account for the increased brake wear, which allowed him to save them. Lewis just couldn't quite make that adjustment work.

Speed is one thing, sure, but true driver skill is about managing those tricky variables.

There you have it.

Well explained, Mamin. ☕

ruggedhawk20 said:It wasn't Lewis's brakes that failed; Lewis failed his brakes.

What actually failed was the MG, and it hit both cars at the exact same time.

Rosberg had enough skill to adjust his driving to the sudden change—managing higher brake wear and keeping them intact. Lewis couldn't pull that off.

Speed isn't everything. There's such a thing as driver skill.

True. Both drivers dealt with MG issues that popped up almost simultaneously.
Except, Rosberg had already messed up his rear brakes even earlier, so he had to compensate by shifting the brake balance forward.

How that "brilliant" tactical move worked out? We saw it during that extension through the chicane before the finish line.

A masterclass in adaptation, clearly.

Jason Campbell70 said:So, how did that brilliant little tactical masterstroke actually play out? Well, we saw the results during that stretch through the chicane just before the start-finish straight.

A truly masterful adjustment to a sudden change in circumstances—you really have to hand it to them.

I can already smell what kind of posts are coming from this crowd😁

May, year of our Lord 2014 - Rosberg is a fraud 😳
June, year of our Lord 2014 - Rosberg is a lucky winner 😳
First he's a total cheat, then suddenly he's the luckiest guy alive...
November, year of our Lord 2014 - Rosberg is the biggest lucky fraud in history, bigger than a massive storm
😵🙂😠

Does anyone actually believe Nico Rosberg is faster or better than Lewis Hamilton?

Anyone?

Unless you're one of those guys who runs out of the stands throwing bananas, right?

May 2014—Rosberg is a fraud.😳
June 2014—Rosberg is a lucky winner.😳
Just a constant loop of "fraud" followed by "lucky"...
By November 2014—Rosberg is the biggest lucky fraud ever, even more than a total disaster.
😵🙂😠

Rosberg is a hero, not a villain.☕

The main point is seeing which Vettel-style driver turns out to be a fraud... honestly, the guy is falling apart right in front of us.😁

Absolutely everything.

He’s just not faster. And honestly, looking at his career up to this point and how this season is going, he isn't better either.

Maybe he’ll step it up this season, but whatever, I don't care about a champion who gets treated like a little baby by his own teammate.

So far this season, Rosberg hasn't been the better driver; the only thing worth mentioning was that one time during the 7th race where he actually managed to handle a race car that was clearly struggling.

We've seen some wow moments from Lewis this season, but since Nica, not really.

One person seems to believe Grand Prix racing is nothing more than a game of chance, while the other argues it’s far wiser to avoid a crash in the chicane rather than chasing after a massive haul of points at any cost.

🤣

Canada really should have been Hamilton's track to claim, shouldn't it? And yet, Rosberg completely outclassed him, even during qualifying. 😂
