Look, this is the pure, untouched Windows setup straight from Microsoft. Nobody messed with it, nobody tweaked it—it's totally legit and free. Just click whichever version you want and the ISO file download will kick off.

Oh, thanks! I absolutely live for those pristine, untouched Windows installs. I can't stand that garbage where they pre-install a hundred useless programs that expire faster than a carton of milk. Honestly, I only need this for Office anyway, and if it keeps acting up, I'm just jumping over to Linux. 👏👏👏👏👏👏

You can find just about anything on torrent sites these days... 😂 I guess when people get bored, they start trying to integrate random programs directly into Windows 😁

Look, if they just installed Office, I wouldn't be complaining—honestly, that would actually be a win. But instead, they dump this massive pile of useless bloatware onto my machine. I’m working with a measly 1 GB of RAM here, so when they force all this junk onto me, it absolutely kills my performance. It’s brutal. I don't even run heavy software like Adobe Reader. Why bother? I can use Sumatra PDF, which is ten times smaller and way more efficient. Or take browsers, for example: I use Firefox because it only takes up about 50 MB when I install it, whereas Google Chrome is three times heavier, a total resource hog, and honestly just slow. At the end of the day, the only reason I even touch Windows is to get my hands on Office. If it were up to me, I'd be running Linux all day. It's faster, it's minimalist, and it doesn't try to suffocate your hardware. I just want the essentials and nothing else.

Greetings!

I find myself wondering... has anyone here ever run into trouble while trying to install Windows 7 on an Asus X551MA laptop?

What could possibly be the root cause of such a headache?

Any idea what might be causing the headache?

It works fine for me.

Anyone know where I can actually find Win 7 Pro retail (FPP) for sale here in the States? Every single online shop I check only seems to stock a tiny handful of those OEM versions... 🤷

Microsoft actually pulled the plug on retail versions about five months back—and if my math is right, they’re cutting off OEM sales by October too. Honestly, your best bet is just to try and track down a copy somewhere else out in the wild.

So it's a total bust 🙄 looks like I'll just have to bite the bullet, hold my breath, and settle for Windows 8 then..🙂

Wait, how on earth did you actually manage to get Windows 7 running? I just found out that this Asus—and honestly, maybe this entire new line of Asus laptops—doesn't even support anything other than Windows 8! How is that even possible?

Can someone help me out? Every time I boot up Windows 7, this window pops up saying there's a DaemonProcess error
And the thing is, I don't even have Daemon installed on my system

I'm getting this DaemonProcess.exe-System Error pop-up on my screen, and it's claiming the program won't launch because QtNetwork4.dll is missing from the system. It's giving me that whole "try reinstalling the program" routine to fix things.

If anyone's got a clue how to deal with this, I'd really appreciate the help.

So, did you just install a fresh version of Windows along with some extra software? 😬 It looks like the problem is that the QtNetwork4.dll file is missing—you’ll probably need to grab that specific file individually and drop it right into the Daemon directory...

http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dl...tml?qtnetwork4

Just click on the link to download the zip files.

If your hard drive was formatted without a backup being made beforehand—you know, things like burning them to a disc or moving them over to a USB drive—then those files are pretty much gone. Honestly, your best bet would be to reach out to the person who actually performed the formatting and see if they can help you out.

Hello.

To put it briefly: if you aren't working with a partitioned drive—meaning one broken down into multiple sections—then everything really just comes down to the total capacity of the hard drive itself. That’s when these kinds of issues tend to crop up. If someone went ahead and wiped the drive through a full format without having separate partitions set up, there's a high probability you've lost everything. However, there are still ways to handle this. I'd suggest downloading a program called Recuva from the web.
It is a modest little program, but don't let that fool you—it packs quite a punch. It’s designed to recover deleted files, and it can even pull data back from disks that have been completely formatted. Good luck out there.

If you're running Windows 7 now, there might be a folder on your C: drive labeled "old." Take a look there first. If nothing turns up, you might want to try using Recuva..☕

The easiest way is to boot a live Linux distro from a USB drive. Use that to access the old files, then just copy everything over to another USB stick..

Yeah, right, she'll be able to "just copy" things once they've gone ahead and wiped the entire hard drive to install Windows 7...

Greetings!
After I finally decided to ditch my old Athlon 64 and that ancient ASRock motherboard to upgrade to an Intel Core i5-4570 on H87-HD3, I went ahead and performed a clean reinstall of Windows 7 using an original disc. Now, I’ve hit a wall with Windows Update, and frankly, it’s becoming quite a headache. I have spent far too much time scouring various forums and reading through endless threads, yet nothing seems to provide a solution. I even attempted to use Microsoft Support tools, but the result was absolutely zero progress. It simply refuses to let me modify any settings; specifically, when I attempt to set it to update automatically and click OK, the system just ignores the command entirely. It persistently prompts me to restart the computer, but of course, after a reboot, everything remains exactly as broken as before. When I ran the problem report as an administrator, this specific error popped up:

Microsoft-Windows-WindowsUpdateClient/Operational
Windows update lost connectivity
File name B2983D76-E1A1-4591-B6BD-E6562Fc6E72E.Diagnose.Admin.0.etl
Eror code -939523550

We even attempted a complete reinstallation of Windows, hoping for a fresh start, but the issue persists stubbornly.
Has anyone here encountered such a bizarre malfunction? The friend who handled the installation is a professional IT specialist, and since we are using genuine Windows, I know they work perfectly fine on three other machines in the house—and they worked flawlessly on my previous setup before this hardware upgrade.

I would be most grateful for any assistance you can offer.
