Hey there...
So, look, I’ve got this Minix Neo X8-H Android player and honestly, it works like a dream most of the time. But here's the headache: I took this external drive I grabbed from Best Buy, loaded it up with all my leftover music and movies, and plugged it into the Minix. Now, it’s being a total pain. It’ll read the files for a second, then just drop out, then try again, then die—it’s like the device is struggling just to stay alive. To make matters worse, the Minix itself starts freezing up whenever the drive is connected. My gut tells me the Minix just can't pull enough juice to keep both running smoothly. I probably should just bite the bullet and get an external drive with its own dedicated power supply, but I really don't feel like dropping more cash right now. Is there any way to fix this or tweak something so it actually works?
Thanks...

Is it a 2.5" or a 3.5" drive? And does it take one USB or two?

Maybe try using a USB hub that actually has its own power supply plugged in

Yeah, that’s actually a solid point... would something like this work? http://m.ebay.com/itm/4-Ports-USB-3-...257Ciid%253A24

I reckon you should check the plug on that adapter first, because it probably won't fit our outlets. You can likely find something similar at a Best Buy for about the same price, which might be easier since you could just return it if it's a dud.

Yeah, yeah, don't worry, I checked. It says it comes with a US plug too... but anyway, I saw a decent one on Amazon, so I'll just grab it there. Hehe... fingers crossed it actually works.
Anyway, thanks for the advice. Cheers! 😁
