I really ought to grab this show from CBS, but I just can't seem to find a decent program or plugin that actually gets the job done.
I’ve already cycled through about a dozen different extensions for Chrome and Firefox, but for some reason, none of them can even detect the video
It’s honestly pretty wild to me that there isn't a straightforward way to just download this thing and be done with it.

I’m a little lost here—I honestly have no clue how you managed to track down that specific link
Could you walk me through your process, please? I'd love to see how you did it.

You can clearly see the URL right there in the source code.

A, you can also grab the DownThemAll! add-on for Firefox if you want—just a heads-up for any future episodes in case you ever need it 😉

I think I'm getting a bit lost here, honestly—I tried doing the whole right-click thing and selecting "view page source,"
but then this massive window pops up with like a million lines of code and I have absolutely no clue where to hunt down that URL.
Then I tried right-clicking again and hitting "inspect element," and well, it’s the same story, just another giant wall of data staring back at me.
I was doing all of this over in Firefox.

Could someone please walk me through this a little more? I'd really appreciate the help!

I just grabbed it using video DownloadHelper. Jose Miller3 mentioned using DownThemAll!, so maybe give one of those a shot...

So, I just gave DownThemAll! another shot, but honestly, it was kind of a bust again.
Every time I fire it up, I’m staring at this massive mountain of links, and I actually managed to spot two that had "it's never too late" right there in the title.
I tried grabbing one of those, but instead of getting an actual video file, I ended up with this tiny little HTML file that doesn't do anything.
I’ve gotta tell you, I am completely stumped on how you guys make this look so easy.

Here is a screenshot for you to see what I mean.

Take a look at the "Pictures and Media" tab...

So, I just gave video DownloadHelper a shot myself, but after it finishes downloading what looks like an MP4, I check the file size and it’s sitting at a measly 1 MB, which basically means no media player out there—not even VLC or Windows Media Player—can actually get it to play properly.

Yeah, I actually gave that a shot already, but I ended up running into the exact same wall.

For me, Pictures and Media shows 7 different items, and one of them is an .mp4 file 🤷

@Nancy Thompson8

Try hitting play on the video first, then check your downloader...

Personally, I stick to two different extensions for grabbing videos online. So far, the only headache I've run into is when they refuse to work on YouTube or PBS. It’s hit or miss—one day one works, the next day it's the other, and everything runs smooth. Give them a shot!
Here are the links: Flash video Downloader and video DownloadHelper.

Could you walk me through how you actually tracked down that URL using either Firefox or Chrome? I'd love to know the steps.

If you dive into the page's source code and hit CTRL + F to search for ".mp4", you should be able to locate the direct video link there.

Just use the Chrome DevTools to inspect an element a bit further down the page. Since the video won't play because of Flash issues, just keep opening new tabs until you hit the video player; once you find the right div, it should highlight itself...

Wouldn't it just be easier to use one of those two Google Chrome extensions I posted above? 🤣

Honestly, I rarely—if ever—actually download videos, so I can't really be bothered to go through the hassle of installing extensions 😁

how do you even do that? I tried opening the source in a new Firefox window and searched for .mp4 on YouTube, but nothing happens... just gets a red error message...
