PBS shut down

As soon as Radman voiced his opinion, he was met with immediate hostility from passersby, and before I knew it, people on the forum were already threatening him with permanent bans for supposed insults.
And just like that, the thread was shut down.

I suppose after his stint in politics, Radmanko still hasn't learned how to handle any kind of criticism.
If I’m being completely honest, I find myself wishing I could subject him to a little old-fashioned tarring and feathering.

Back when the old regime was in power, they would simply sweep anyone deemed "undesirable" under the rug just to maintain the illusion of perfect national unity and harmony.
It is truly disheartening to see them closing the discussion regarding PBS today, while the embarrassment surrounding Vučić's recent media appearances hasn't even begun to fade. It's quite shameful, really.

You know perfectly well it isn't about accuracy; the thread was just locked because people were getting too nasty with the insults. The mods figured it’d be better to freeze the discussion until things cool down rather than handing out bans right away.
Bans and suspensions aren't a moderator's only move, and as a long-time user, you know that better than anyone.
Even the discussion regarding Vučić's visit has its own dedicated thread where things are heated, so that excuse doesn't really hold water here.

Warnings and bans aren't the only tools moderators have, and you know that better than anyone as a long-time user.

To be honest, if we're being real, only one user (let's call him Piggy) actually started hurling insults. In just three posts, he called his interlocutors "right-wing pieces of shit and retards," and those were his only posts. He showed up specifically to insult people, and he did exactly that. In response, a moderator (let's call him DJ) deleted his posts—without actually punishing him, obviously—and told everyone to calm down or face warnings.

Let's face it—if me or jadeseal4 had jumped into this thread and spent three or four posts calling people "shit" or "retards," that moderator, let's call him DJ, would have banned us instantly. No mercy. Instead, one guy gets off scot-free, and the whole thread gets shut down under the pretense that everyone was insulting each other. In reality, one person was being abusive while everyone else was just laughing along.

Just my 2 cents.

It isn't true that only one person was insulting others, and it isn't true that nobody who insulted anyone else got sanctioned—though you can't see that part. It's just that to avoid too many drama threads, the mods take a break until tomorrow. A few people lost their cool, but that’s hardly your concern.

From what I could tell, the only forum user actually being abusive was "piggy." Everyone else was aiming their insults at PBS, not at other users.

Not my concern? If I see people getting away with things without being punished, what am I supposed to think? What’s the point of this PDF then?

Punishment shouldn't be the only tool in the moderation kit. There are times when a temporary shutdown is necessary, just to prevent penalties from becoming the sole method of control.

I get where you're coming from, but I noticed one user who was being pretty aggressive and insulting didn't even go into "silent mode" after his controversial posts were scrubbed. That shouldn't be allowed, IMHO. Maybe he ended up getting some warnings later on, but at that moment, he didn't 🤷.

Even though it says the topic is open, it remains closed🙂 zaborav is truly something else.
