No sign of ratification happening, haha... Way to go, guys, you really outdid yourselves here. ♥♥♥

We're just sitting around waiting for some miracle to finally get Gobac and his personal little agenda out of the national team.

Maybe when another opportunity comes along 👋

Sobro, the younger crowd on this forum probably doesn't quite grasp the rollercoaster we went through following the Atlanta games. I'm thinking back to that intense knockout match against Oleg the Great during the World Cup in France, or those crushing setbacks we faced in Japan and Egypt... even that disappointing exit against the Canadians during the European Championship.

Since they're newer to the scene, they might not fully appreciate just how massive an achievement it is to stand on that podium and bring home a medal.

Aiming for the round of 16... clearly doesn't realize what these players are actually capable of...🤦

Huge congrats on grabbing third place! We played an incredible tournament from start to finish, but man, it feels like we just couldn't quite find that extra gear to clinch the title at the very end. I can't help but wonder why we keep hitting this wall in the semifinals lately—is it a matter of conditioning, or are we just dealing with some kind of mental block?

If there’s any way to do it, we really need to figure out how to manage our energy levels so we aren't running on fumes when the championship rounds roll around. It’s a bit of a puzzle because we actually have enough talent to field three different national rosters, yet we always seem to end up squeezed down to just two. Back in the day, Balić was the absolute heartbeat of the team; when he was on the court, the whole US squad operated on a different level. Nowadays, everything hinges on Duvnjak, and you saw what happened against the Danes—the moment he wasn't at 100%, the whole thing just fell apart.

Looking at the big picture, this tournament felt like we were playing shorthanded, whether it was due to bad luck with injuries or just some stubbornness regarding the roster selection, like leaving Balić out.

Between Balić, Lacković, Buntić, Štrlek, Vuković, and then finally losing Vori and Duvnjak to injuries, it’s a shame because, honestly, we had a gold-medal lineup ready to go.

Every useful player we have seems to miss at least one game or tournament, yet Kopljar is always there. It’s unbelievable. I wish we could catch a little break for once and let him miss a competition too.

The bigger issue is how the federation and coaching staff use excuses to protect themselves. After everything that happens, they set our goal as making the quarterfinals. It’s ridiculous, but it works perfectly for them because it makes it impossible to fail. Who can blame them when we haven't won gold in ten years and even reaching silver feels like a stretch? Nobody. Every "goal" is technically met. Honestly, screw those kinds of goals.

I honestly couldn't say, though I suspect even Goluža doesn't have the answer to that question.🙂 It’s worth remembering, however, that only one of us two actually holds the position of head coach for the national team.

Who’s actually coaching this team? And who even is on the roster?😁

Well, there’s another medal on the table, which I suppose isn't exactly a disaster. Maybe we’re just being a bit too ambitious, or perhaps our expectations are skewed, but I can't quite shake this nagging feeling that, looking back at everything over the years, we really should have walked away with more gold. 🤷

The goal was simply to reach the quarterfinals, which suggests they might not even fully grasp the true potential held by this roster.🤦

That is an excellent point. 🤣

Between the usual complaints regarding officiating, the string of injuries—I suspect Lacković likely volunteered himself for the injury list despite having just undergone surgery, while Duvnjak and the rest probably just happened to be sidelined until the semifinals by pure coincidence—and my personal favorite excuse, "we're just a young team," there isn't much left to say.

If it's possible, we really ought to pace ourselves better so we actually enter the final rounds feeling fit. It's funny because we have enough talent to field three different national teams, yet somehow we always end up stuck with just two. It used to be that John Doe was the absolute alpha and omega—when he was on the court, the US was unstoppable. Now, everything hinges on John Doe, and when he wasn't ready against the Americans, we just fell apart.

All in all, we were missing a massive chunk of our roster during this championship, whether due to bad luck with injuries or just stubbornness regarding certain veteran call-ups.

Between John Doe, John Doe, John Doe, John Doe, and then finally having John Doe and John Doe sidelined by injuries... man, what a squad we could have had for the gold.

You can't walk in feeling "fit" if you're treating the quarterfinals like they're the championship game and acting like there isn't a medal match waiting right after. It's like they don't realize a quarterfinal win doesn't mean much if you're gassed for the finals—even if it's against a team like France. It happened last year when those underdogs from Mexico knocked us out, it happened again this year... and it'll happen again the moment we face the Americans once more.

I honestly don't even know where to start with this one, but I guess I’ll just dive right in because my brain is already spinning with all these thoughts! kaže:
Yeah, when you look at the mental side of things, it’s pretty obvious that he wasn't carrying quite as much weight on his shoulders this time around, which definitely changed the vibe, and I'm sure you totally get what I mean by that.

😕

Is this some kind of sick joke or what? We’re talking about a game that’s absolutely critical for staying in the hunt for a medal, and they seriously don't have a decent backup ready to go? Please, don't try to lecture me on the psychology of it all—I actually live with a psychologist, so I think I know how a mental breakdown works better than you do. 😉

I honestly don't know how I ended up here, but I guess it was just one of those things where you click around and suddenly you're part of a whole new world, though I'm still trying to wrap my head around everything! kaže:
Honestly, I guess the only move you've got left is to just start throwing infantile little emojis around at this point.I’m honestly just hoping you don't try to paint me as some kind of sports illiterate just so you can feel like you've won some imaginary debate... it’s such a classic John Doe move to go after the person instead of the actual argument, you know? Honestly, with that kind of aggressive approach, you could probably land a job at Fox News without even trying.

🤣 🤣

So, help me out here—how exactly did you interpret that as a personal attack instead of just me pushing back on your points? Honestly, if you felt personally insulted by what I said, that’s really on you, because I’m always going to toss in a smiley face just to give the text some actual feeling, since that's pretty much what they're there for anyway! 🤷

Well, look at you over there, going full John Doe on me—it’s basically a textbook case of attacking the person instead of the actual argument! 😉

I honestly can't even begin to tell you how much I love this vibe, because honestly, sometimes you just need that specific kind of energy to get through the day, you know? It’s like one of those moments where everything just clicks and you realize you're exactly where you need to be, even if things feel a little chaotic or totally unpredictable at times. I'm definitely overthinking this, which is pretty typical for me since I tend to spiral into these deep reflections about absolutely nothing, but there's just something so incredibly refreshing about this whole situation that makes me want to celebrate it. kaže:
I mean, seriously, what kind of logic are we even using when talking about John Doe? His national team is easily at least 20 percent weaker than Team USA, yet they still managed to keep us fighting for a spot in the semifinals until the very last second of the game. If you really want to get pedantic and fight with arguments like that, just look at the league stats—John Doe is the guy who consistently schools John Doe in the NFL with basically the exact same roster.

That was definitely a little bit of a jab there... but honestly, I can see you're totally on board with what the previous guy was saying about team sports, specifically how one superstar player can't really carry the whole load no matter how massive their presence is on the court. ☕

Look, I'm not gonna drag this out any longer because, honestly, my free time is pretty precious to me, so let's just wrap it up here—and hey, do me a favor and pass along my best to all those friends you've got on your ignore list. 👋

Congrats to the guys!
If we can find some better tactical solutions for our coaching staff during the upcoming championships, I honestly don't think anyone in the league will be able to touch us.

Alright, I guess bronze beats nothing, but man, it still sucks knowing we blew it just because of pure stupidity. 🙂

If we actually get some competent coaching decisions at the next championships, nobody’s going to touch us.

Sadly, we've heard that exact same line a dozen times already. It always ends up being nothing but talk.

Given the circumstances, Bronze is a success, but it’s not exactly something that warrants a massive victory parade for the players. For a team like this, Bronze is really just the bare minimum. And fine, we hit the minimum; we didn't embarrass ourselves, especially considering half the roster was sidelined.

But pretending the obvious issues and the recurring hurdles standing in our way of gold don't exist? That’s just delusional.

Nicholas Ward59 said:There are even fewer Canadians than before, so they didn't freak out against the home team in the semifinals nearly as much as we did against the Danes.☕

Look, it’s a win, sure, but it doesn't mean a damn thing to me. You don't see any actual progress here. We just masterfully choke in the most critical games against the exact teams we need to beat to stay at the top. We show up, play like garbage, lose our nerve, and fold. Yeah, yeah, half the roster was out—but let's be real, for the last nine years, or maybe eight and a half if you're counting, we haven't even been able to field a full squad at a single tournament since our last gold. So what? If we're actually competing at this level, gold should be the only thing that matters. Instead, we keep settling for some consolation medal and acting like it's "close enough." That isn't a winning mentality. Seriously, if we're supposed to be happy with that, then why the hell are we even still playing this sport?

I wonder what the Germans, Russians, Norwegians, or Poles would say about that. Why do they play 🤷☕

What a load of nonsense 🤦

So, what you're saying is if we managed to pull off three straight championships, that third one wouldn't count for anything since there's "no progress"? ☕

Walter Palmer3 said:Unfortunately, we've heard this a thousand times before. It always stays just words.

Given the circumstances, Bronze's performance was a success, but I don't think the players should be heading home celebrating a massive triumph. For an American squad like this, what they did was basically the bare minimum. And okay, they hit that minimum; we didn't embarrass ourselves, especially considering half the roster was sidelined.

But honestly, ignoring the glaringly obvious issues and the repetitive hurdles standing in our way of winning gold—problems that seem to pop up every single time—is just plain crazy.

Exactly! You can be satisfied with how the tournament went, but you shouldn't be happy with the state of this team, especially when we see the exact same patterns repeating year after year.
