I don't know if anyone else caught that weird vibe during the post-game interview. Goliath starts rambling about how it’s all about the team effort rather than any one guy (Dustin), right? And then he goes on this whole list of players, but completely skips over Vory, who was literally standing right next to him! Honestly, it felt less like a team speech and more like Vory's unofficial retirement from the national team.

And what the hell was that shoving match happening when Goliath called that timeout? My gut tells me those guys from the neighboring region were protesting because he decided to burn a timeout while they were up by six with only two and a half minutes left on the clock. Seriously, calling a timeout in that situation was such a brain-dead move on Goliath's part.

At the end of the day, look at the track record since that tournament in Athens: ten major competitions, eight semifinals, and zero gold medals. Not once have we touched the top spot. It’s not just bad luck; you can practically smell the curse coming from a mile away.

They absolutely deserved this win, and I want to send a huge congratulations to all the players!
We need to be a bit more realistic when evaluating that game against Denmark. Looking at some of these comments, you'd almost think we were reading a bunch of Danish fans instead of Americans.
Some of these leftists somehow managed to stumble their way into the World Cup. I mean, they can't exactly deny it—they are the reigning European champions, after all, and have been holding that title for a while now.
They’ve been sitting at the top for ten years straight. Honestly, we absolutely dismantled them during the World Cup. Sometimes you just have those games where you completely overpower the opposition.
Everything goes in, but nothing else follows.
We’ve managed to take down every single team on our schedule except for Denmark, so honestly, I don't think anyone can really complain about how we finished.
We might have been able to push further during the World Cup or the Olympics, but looking at things objectively, we did everything we could with the hand we were dealt. We really maximized our potential based on what our opponents allowed us to do.

I know I mentioned this earlier in the thread, but whether this counts as a win really depends on how you look at it. If we’re judging based on the luck of the draw and the way they actually played on the field (well, excluding that match against the Danes...), then maybe it feels like a missed opportunity. However, when you consider that even with much bigger names and more talent on our roster, we haven't managed to pull anything more significant than a silver medal since 2004... then this is actually a massive achievement.

Which tournament is this now, after Athens, where we've managed to rack up nothing but one loss and a string of wins, yet still haven't touched gold?

You really hit the nail on the head there. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled about the bronze—it’s a huge achievement—but seeing Coach Miller's sour expression after the loss to the Danes... man, that said it all. It’s just hard to wrap my head around how we can lose semifinals like that; it felt less like a gritty, hard-fought battle and more like we just got outclassed by a lower-tier squad. After that whole hex involving the French team, it feels like we’ve just traded one curse for another—this "semifinal jinx." Hopefully, we can shake this off before the Euros roll around.
