Headphone recommendations?

Greetings. I see Best Buy is offering free shipping until March 16th—so I am considering picking up some budget headphones from them, staying around the $33 mark. My top choices so far are the Sony MDR-ZX110 at $25 and the Sony MDR-ZX310 at $33. I am curious if there is any significant difference between those two models—and how they actually stack up against the Audio-Technica ATH-M20x I currently own (though I might pick up a second pair if the need arises).

Hey everyone, which way is the better move? Should I drop $67 on some new Medusa NX, or go with $117 for the SteelSeries V2 7.1 (they're only a month old and still under warranty)?

Which one do you think is actually worth the money?

It's a bit hard to put into words, but my desk setup is such that I'm constantly getting caught on this standard, "flat" cable. It snags on things so often that my headphones end up getting pulled right off my head, which is incredibly frustrating. Plus, I like to move around a little when I'm listening to music.🙂

Actually, I feel the exact opposite—straight cables just stress me out. Every straight cable I've ever owned was either too short, causing too much head or body movement and making them slip off, or if they were long enough, I'd just spend the whole time worrying about where they're going to snag. This "telephone-style" coiled cord is perfect for avoiding all that.

Is it actually possible to use those headphones you pick up at a convenience store for $6.75 phone calls—assuming the jack matches, of course?
I’m using an Apple iPhone and I just need something to keep my ears from getting cold. Basically, I'm looking for the cheapest option available where I can hear the person on the other end clearly, but I'll be talking directly into the phone itself—I don't want any microphones attached to the headphones... I've never really dealt with them before, so I'm a bit out of my element here. 🤦

They’ll work just fine, no issues there. But honestly, nobody can tell you exactly how they're going to sound until you actually put them on and try them out. If I were in your shoes, I'd rather shell out a few extra bucks and grab some entry-level gear from a name brand you actually know: Sony, Panasonic, JVC, Philips, or Sennheiser... you can usually find them for around $60$23, maybe even less. At least with those, you know they'll get the job done. Plus, they're everywhere—you can find them at any electronics store, or even just grabbing something quick at Kroger, Walmart, Aldi, or Best Buy.

If you are looking at headphones with a built-in mic, the smartest move (not necessarily the best quality, but you'd need to test them or find someone with actual experience to know that) is just to go with whatever comes with your phone. Those are usually optimized for what you need.
